He just did. He showed Labour, in no uncertain terms, that they can't just edit him out. This is a strong basis for a new party, one that's going to be needed in the next few years, given that Starmer's taken the party to the centre right.

This still brings tears to my eyes a few days later. This was seat I cared about most in the whole country, even more than my own constituency (in fact, I don't know the name of my parachuted-in Lab MP - I voted Green this time).
I disliked Jeremy Corbyn for being an absolutely useless figure to head the opposition during Brexit. But I love how he managed to pull an independent seat after the labour party gave him the boot. How many candidates have a following that is this enthusiastic?
