@@seregarublev8915yes. It particularly affects synapses (connections between the cells) which is why memory problems are frequent effects. Interestingly clinically depressed people also experience something similar where the synapses suffer due to the chemical imbalance and thus when speaking they may appear slow or absent minded because their speech stalls and they have trouble recalling words or their thoughts. Just an interesting tidbit.

I have an issue with hyperventilating without realizing it, it's caused respiratory alkalosis more than once and is not only excruciatingly fucking painful but also dangerous because it then causes my heart to basically "vibrate" (I forget the actual medical term for this.. atrial fibrillation I think?) so as a response I've subconsciously started to hold my breath.. which can then lead to acidosis lol.
