my girlfriend (who is actually a 2nd jerma editor, daisy) introduced me to jerma on one of the first occasions we hung out. we watched the entirety of the computer building stream and the whole time i was so CONFUSED. i'd never seen anything quite like it, so i admit i was more baffled than entertained. a guy was streaming himself doing a fake pc build? why?? but, as someone who loves absurdity, that stream stuck in my head. within a month or so i'd watched every single video on the 2nd jerma channel. im now a regular viewer! i adore this man, he is so funny, so refreshing, and so HUMBLE.

I think the most impressive thing about Jeromenine-eightyfive is how his comedy has stood at it's peak for his entire career, the only difference between TF2 Jerma and Silly Stream Jerma is funding. If TF2 Jerma had the cash to make a carnival, he would've. It's just a greater cashflow and viewerbase allows for him to become more than he already was. Jerma hasn't gotten funnier, his act has been refined.

What I like about Jerma is his humor is not limited to insulting other content creators, or trying to offend a specific group to be edgy or shocking for a cheap laugh. He just does what he wants and he doesn't care if its good or bad since he knows in the end it will still be funny. It takes me back to a time when RU-vidrs did skits or whatever they wanted just to have a fun time and entertain their audience. He, and his chat are all in on the joke and he doesn't expect everyone to get it but those who do are along for the ride. We are in an era where RU-vidrs and streamers follow the meta to fill the quota, but Jerma brings me back to the old times when you could make anything and people would watch.

The thing is that jerma actually is more of a real person then any other streamer

I've never watched Jerma before, but he seems to be, like, a wholesome Filthy Frank who's reaping the rewards of playing the long game with his content

His relationship with chat has always been one of the most entertaining aspects of his Twitch career. He obviously gets super frustrated and argues with chat constantly, but he isn't really getting mad at chat, he's just letting chat roast him.

It's also worth mentioning how his streams truly feel like you're hanging out with a buncha friends, with how he and his audience play off each other. He's authentic enough to be believable, you don't get the impression he's putting on a face or act, and he's always going back and forth with chat. It makes for great television

The point about "the joke always being on him" is exactly why I love him. I've always equated him to a clown- like a real clown, not in a meme way.

I'm late to the party but my absolute favourite comment comes from one of his viewers in 2nd Jerma channel saying " It's not about a guy trying to play a game while he talks it's that it's about a guy trying to talk while the game distracts him." And I think that's one of the most accurate things to describe Jerma's content to anyone.

I started watching Jerma after seeing this video. It’s been about a month and I cannot thank you enough for introducing me to this eccentric and incredible person that is Jerma. With everything going on, it’s been very hard for me (someone who struggles with clinical depression and autism) to stay positive and sane. Jerma has genuinely brighten my daily live and while he has kept me entertained, he has also kept me looking forward to the future with hope that things will be okay. I may be only a new fan to Jerma, but I cannot express how glad I am to be apart of the community. Your video was so well thought out and crafted with love that it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for this beautiful dissection of one of my now absolute favorite streamers and for showing me this wild man.

Jerma is one of the greatest comedy geniuses of our time. His ability to understand what most of us would see as a passing gag, and stretch it so far beyond its limits it becomes something we rationalize as running jokes is seriously so smart and creative.

The holy trio of streamers: Jerma, Vinny, Vargskelethor. Alright, actually, tbh, I don't watch live streams, but I watch their clips and cr1tical probably more than anything else on RU-vid. Even when Jerma was doing TF2, ster would win, every time. But he didn't stop making videos with ster, he continued because he enjoyed humour where he was the but of the joke. That is a new level of humble right there.

I've always loved even if the joke fails completely he always sticks with it and the concept of sticking with a terrible joke somehow turns it around because of the absurdity. If i were in the same situation, my confidence would drop from being a perfectionist. If jerma has taught me anything, it is surely that everything doesn't have to be good to be great.

The unique thing about Jerma is that he is absolutely controversy-less because he naturally makes himself the butt of every joke. If the joke is funny its funny because of him, if its not then he commits to it so hard that the absurdity makes it funny. This is a man who could make a stream where he's standing in a completely empty room the most hilarious thing we've ever seen. He's the diamond standard for truly relatable streamers we just can't help but watch.

I genuinely have never seen such a good description of how jerma streams and what makes him so good. I'll definitely be sharing this video with people so i can convince them to watch more jerma. Seriously love this

I didn't know who Jerma was until a few months ago and I'm so happy that I did find him because after Etika passed away, there weren't really any streamers that really made me feel the happiness the way Etika did. I can confidently say Jerma fills up a large portion of that happiness that left when Etika left this world.

I remember a friend I've since stopped talking to linked me to the 'death to spies' video on the day it was uploaded and I hadn't heard of the guy before. The bit with them all rushing in the door and throwing grenades had me in actual tears barely able to breath, and not too long ago I watched him rewatching that video on twitch and it brought on a weird flush of nostalgia. I'm proud of what he's managed to accomplish since his move to twitch. I'm excited to see what insane concepts he might latch onto in the future and surpass even the carnival stream.

I have a difficult time trying to explain to myself why I enjoy both Jerma and his community so much, and to a greater degree than other youtubers or streamers, but I think you did a good job explaining why. Really nice and well polished video.

Jerma, STAR_ and TF2 are the reasons i know English. All of them shaped the way i speak and write, not only in English, but in my native language as well. Its a long story, but ill try keep it short. I'm from russia, and schools in russia, at least from where im from, didn't really teach English for actual talk or writing. Its more of a "well now you know how to ask where the subway is". But it still gave me a basis to work with. I'm not sure how i switched from russian translation of tf2 to english, but it was a thing that helped me a lot with understanding accents and fluent speech. And Jerma with Star, gave the rest. Not sure how will it be in English, something like a spoken English. If that makes any sense. So.. yeah.. they helped a lot Спасиб ребятам кароч

I started watching jerma in like september, and I was a little worried that I was too late to the game since he's been doing stuff for so long. I was so wrong. I have no idea how he manages to outdo himself every stream. Never a boring moment

I had heard of Jerma when I first really dove into the internet, I didn’t get him at first but after a couple of years I looked at his stuff again and instantly fell in love with his content

Wow, this was a really good analysis, nice work! You hit the nail on the head with all your points :D I didn't even consider that some of his best jokes are always at his expense, whether he intended them or not. I think the "coffee, cheetos, chicken"-joke really summarizes his humor. The joke isn't funny. It goes on for too long. It's obnoxious and repetitive. But you can tell Jerma is having such a blast making a fool of himself together with Star_ that it comes across as charming. And the joke goes on for too long, but THAT'S what makes it funny. His sheer commitment to even his dumbest ideas is honestly remarkable. Many people would try something out, notice it doesn't work, and stop. But Jerma does the god damn Labo stream like what, 3-4 times??? It really shows he believes in the jokes he creates, or at least he thinks it'll be worth it if he keeps them going. And it does work, and that's why we all love him.

If anyone’s confused by the video (super well made btw) then basically: Jerma stands out from other streamers for- • Having a larger following on RU-vid from 2 channels (1 dead and one consisting of stream highlights) • Doing things other than playing games on stream (building a birdhouse, using an easybake oven, reviewing community emotes) • Having long-running lore throughout all of his videos (trip to vegas, being short, coffee cheetos chicken) • Reviewing media related to his stream on his stream (green screen night, community night, best of awards)

It just occurred to me that most of the traits you described belonging to Jerma apply to Vinny Vinesauce as well

i started watching clips a couple months ago after seeing some on my, yes, *tumblr dashboard* popping up. a mutual was really going ham on reblogging them and i was enjoying them so much i looked him up on here, and now he's become one of my comfort streamers. i've been going through a lot, and every bad day is brightened by literally any of the hundreds of compilation videos uploaded by his community.

I still remember when he started moving away from TF2. Back in highschool my friends and I used to watch him and ster and constantly quote him ad nauseum. Only *TRUE GAMERS* remember the shpee era.

Jerma will always be a part of my childhood, the guy is pretty much the perfect embodiment of ADHD but he's able to channel it in such a creative way that's just entertaining to watch.

The best thing about jerma is he acts like he has a Hollywood budget's worth of creativity in practically every stream he does.

Jerma cannot fail his jokes, and that makes him the perfect streamer. Pulls off A joke? Great! Fail the joke? Chat allows him to bounce back perfectly by making fun of him, kicking in the self satirization. One of Jerma's chat memes really embodies this, that would be +2 and -2. By allowing the audience to have direct control of saying the current joke is good or bad, he can play off of that. Mid joke he sees the chat in -2 mode? Acknowledge it, play it up with one of his many personas and throw in A classic meme for security. If mid joke it's +2, all he has to do is biff the joke last minute for ultimate comedic timing.

Wow, this is an interesting dissection of what makes this whole thing tick so well. I’m glad this exists.

Honestly, my favorite thing about Jerma is that he's been on the internet like a decade now & has had no controversy/drama. Jerma is just a genuinely good person. Which is insane. Like, almost anyone w/ enough time will fuck up on stream or have a skeleton exposed. But not Jerma. Jerma is consistently funny, creative and uplifting. Gonna miss him when he finally retires.
