i use to be on a bulking diet where part of it was eating up to 12 eggs a day. Ive felt nothing but greatness, I felt amazing and did it for 2 months straight. I actually went from 78kg to 81.5kg in 2 months. Only downside is that i got so sick and tired of eating eggs every single day 😅
I'm from farm country and all these farmers wake up and eat eggs (in grease) with bacon, sausage every day. They're dying alright -- at the age of 80 or above!
Cholesterol is bad is a lie cholesterol is nothing but good for you when your active and overall healthy. Also eggs have more ldl cholesterol which remove rdl cholesterol out of the bloodstream so it doesnt even make a difference so you feeling better while eating meat and eggs and cholesterol is absoluty right
Zabo was a big-time weed smoker. That's why he was so laid-back. Chong from Cheech and Chong worked out with the GE bodybuilders and said that he smoked with Zabo... and on occasion a certain Austrian governor joined in!
Damn you Ric Drasin! You got me so obsessed with the golden era that I'm getting depressed due to the fact that I will never be a part of it. What do I do? Life is so precious and wonderful.
Is there a golden era in heaven? I will say hi to joe Weider, joe gold, mike mentzer, serge nubret, leroy Colbert, Larry scott jim morris, steeve reeves, and many other great bodybuilders of the good old days.
Owned a bar for decades, drank five nights a week and lifted weights. Now I've gone two years without drinking because my wife is sick and quit (so I quit in solidarity). Ive noticed that lack of alcohol has only helped me in that I'm never hungover when I lift. Didn't make any other difference whatsoever with my strength, size, or endurance. Back when I drank I told people it didn't hurt my lifts, now that I quit I was hoping I was wrong, but, at least for me, I wasn't.
6 eggs in the Am.. for years.. well. actually 4 egg whites, and 2 full eggs, I dont like full eggs. to rich for me, but to each there own.. Nice Vid Ric. at working listing to your vids. Peace .
I have to agree with the weed bit , I train more Intensely and get a great muscle connection after I've had a couple of puffs of weed and a strong coffee , works very well for me.
Its hard to give any advice without seeing what you look like & what your diet is. What is your goal? If your goal is to get bigger then dont worry about putting on some fat. If your training naturally its not possible to put on muscle without gaining some fat. After you get as big as you want - cut your calories & start training to get cut. You maybe taking in more calories, way more than you need. High intensity cardio couple times a week.100 meter sprints are best & activate type II fibers.
You also need Choline to move fat out of the liver cell and into the blood. The liver cell converts alcohol and fructose into fat and then needs Choline to move the fat out into the blood stream. Without enough Choline fat will build up and you get fatty liver.
12:21 ----The reason cannabis motivated bodybuilders back in the day, was because in the 1960s and 70s, most of the marijuana was pure Sativa, from Mexico,Columbia, and Thailand, there was hardly any Indica in the states back then, until the late 70s early 80s

I have eaten well over 50,000 raw eggs in my life with no problems and just great healthy results.....except for the last couple times. Kind of made me nausea, but didn't get sick. I waited a week or so and tried it again, but with some free range organic type eggs and same tummy ache feeling. Next time I tried my drink WITHOUT the raw eggs and had no problem. Maybe I need to do a full on month long juice fast or something, I dunno, but seems as tho they are causing me an issue.I have no problems with cooked eggs. Typically would take Pepsin/ hcl with it. Maybe I've developed an allergy or resistance to the raw eggs?
Your age says 21 on your channel. What you are saying is you started to hit the gym when you were 9 years old with 8-12 whole eggs every morning. Sounds like a bunch of bs to me if you are 21 years old and making that claim.
Been eating 8-12 whole eggs every morning before I hit the gym for 12 years now. Nothing's wrong with me so far. The whole high cholesterol in egg yolks thing is a big fat lie imo.
It was all bs! There was never anything wrong with eggs unless it was salmonella or something. Same thing with coffee don't put all the s*** in your coffee and it's perfectly fine.
The whole cholesterol is bad is a lie its one of the reasons Alzheimer disease is such a thing nowadays and also if you active cholesterol is nothing but good for you
Six whole eggs every morning with 2 cod liver oil tabs for 20+ years... I am 40 now with heart rate of 39 Beats Per Min. at rest and a 29 inch waist. No problem.
@TJ P I dunno if he is or not but that kinda sounds like a recipe for disaster for your ldl cholesterol. I took fish oil almost everyday for a year to try and lower my triglycerides. Came back the following year and I had lowered my triglycerides but my ldl had risen almost 20 points since my last physical and I attributed it to it most likely being the fish oil (although OP said cod liver oil, maybe that's different I dunno) and with him saying he eats 6 whole eggs everyday, I dunno if that would be good for you in the long run? Everyone has got different genetics tho.
It's funny you talked about alcohol, and it destroying the muscle. So true! I drank like a fish on the weekends years ago. By Friday i was pumped up and vascular, but by Sunday all those gains were lost from Bing drinking. An older guy in the gym told us this would happen, we didn't believe him. I haven't drank in years now, and I'd like to say have fun once in a while but if you're serious about bodybuilding, you can not drink heavy for more than one night. My experience anyway.
Such a wonderful interview. Jerry at his best, The late, great Ric Drasin knew exactly how to ask the incisive questions and then let the guest hold forth. We miss you Ric. Please keep up the fight Jerry. Priceless.
I come from a family that was largely into sports such as rugby, American football and martial arts. Hence, I was introduced to weight training when I barely started primary school by my uncle and brother. Contrary to what is said, weight training does not stunt growth if you start early. I also did my best to emulate my brother's diet program (he was an aspiring bodybuilder at the time) when I started hitting the gym.
Eating eggs for me does not increase cholesterol at all. Last year before I started my diet and workout routine I was only eating maybe 2 to 4 eggs a week. My cholesterol was 241. I increased eggs to three to four a day, but I only eat duck eggs which are twice as large as a regular egg. That’s between 21 and 28 eggs a week. My cholesterol this year was 241. Exactly the same.
Ric I just started watching you and I love ur interviews.. I crack up watching you listen to some of these guy speak bc you look around...check out other stuff..and look like you're distracted... lol but I love it!!!!!!! great work. I LOVE EVERYTHING GOLDEN ERA.
The reason they throw away yolks is coz that much amount of fat even if it's good won't go well with a high carb diet. High carbs is the foundation to get big while High fat is for lean building or cutting. So it's all about one's priorities.
Love watching these two together and the hearing the old war stories! In my humble opinion professional body building is way too much about the right illegal juice even though steroids were used in the old days also.
Ric, I recently listened to your comments on leg workouts and i have two brand new knees from a surgery 3+ years ago. In my first post surgery office visit i asked my surgeon "Did you happen to see who stole my quadriceps?" -- Reason was, double knee replacements have you off BOTH legs for a while and the atrophy shocked me... Im a highrise steelworker and NEED to know "replacement knee safe" exercises... Thanks
p.s Always been into training but the walking is the thread that holds my fitness together. Used to do it for 6 hrs a day when I was student but still do a couple of miles a day today (I am talking about real walking, large strides and brisk like you have purpose). If you do enough walking it becomes as difficult as sitting down at rest.
Ok, but I still think most people can tolerate eggs, and often heart (infarcts) come from combinations with an inflammation as well and also heritage plays a role.
In his book education of a bodybuilder Arnold says they used to go out in the woods drink beer and lift weights for hours at a time. As for Steve Reeves of course you can train one month out of the year if you spend the other 11 flexing in front of a camera!
