His sound can be so thick and heavy with a gloomy heavyness and they can also be so acoustic and beautiful it all still gives me goosebumps almost 30 years later. One of the songs that Willie said he wrote when he was in a dark place. Jerry Cantrell has done it justice for sure. I miss AIC....Great job on the tune! Getting props from Willie himself had to feel amazing. I had no idea that country music is what Jerry kind of grew up on. And Elton John was a big influence early on. Watch the "Icons" show about Jerry, if you've never seen it. Definitely worth the nearly hour and a half watch. I'm happy that it wasn't just some short piece like a lot of guys do. Man we've lost a lot of good musicians lately. I'm sure Mikey and Layne are jamming with all of them. Eddie VH is probably pulling up a chair now and getting tuned up!
That Jerry interview made me seek out this one, too. I love the more obscure varieties an artist has. I've never been a Willie fan (tho my parents were, I grew up listening to him) but this song is beautifully done by Jerry. ❤🎸
