Great interview and loved the information you guys drew out of Jerry. Nothing earth shattering but definitely helps me figure out his decision making process which helps a lot! Great work!
I think a lot of sports interviews are quite frankly robotic and boring and you get the same lame scripted responses but I feel that here we got to see a bit more of a down to earth and actually passionate about the game side of Jerry Dipoto here which was a lot of fun. Particularly when talking about the prospects. It feels like Jerry could likely go on for hours talking about it if he didn't have a baseball team to run. Great interview.
Birthday twin Jerry! It was real interesting seeing him aware of the different hitting ability by climate considering how little has seemingly been done to alter that. It would be nice to have a staff that gameplanned not only around pitching/situational matchups, but also the weather and park factors. I'd love for them to have a smaller ball approach in the early months and then loft the ball and let it carry once it gets warmer. Real interested to see what they do with the bench spots. Felt like Jerry was alluding to the value of DMo/Hags at the end of the roster, but when you have two spots taken by platoons, super utilities feel like they lose a lot of allure. Would love for them to go with a higher potential proposition that can really use the seasoning now to become a factor for them in the post-season. Great job!
The word I would use to describe Cole Young is present. He looks so present in the box. I don’t see the jittery ticks a young player looking to prove themselves when I watch him. He’s just confident in his skill set and just plays. He may not be up late in the year, but he’s definitely making his debut next year!!!
I give Jerry a lot of sh*t so I want to preface this by saying I ask this genuinely and not out of criticism: is he ok? He looks like he's lost significant weight (for someone his size) and aged 10 years. And his voice just sounds sickly. I know he's had health issues in the past so I do hope he's OK.
Dipoto is a jerk who needs to be gone, he doesn't care in the slightest if the team wins or loses, as long as he gets his paycheck. Servais needs to go, too. Had way too many chances to do something, but never fails to fail.
Mariners should NOT trade top prospects. Bring up clase and Locklear. If they can't help, then it is what it is. Vic Robles is swinging a good bat, but sits. Drop canzone and hanger. If Locklear and clase do it don't succeed, so be it. Other teams bring guys up. No more washed up vets.
