One thing that stood out to me was how Deborah was shown in her garden standing in front of flowers. She was cutting them and collecting them to keep for herself to enjoy, She wasnt looking at them and letting them grow
Deborah seems like such a wicked and evil woman. Amazing how she has no respect for Mountain Girl or Jerry's kids. I always wondered how great men can be so manipulated or attracted to such evil women. She is probably one of the most hated people in the entire GD universe.
jeeez Jer MG loved you all them years...an original merry prankster, wonderful mom to the girls you kinda neglected and in the height of your addiction u gave it all away to that jezebel black widow. A wonderful musician and we forgive you... but that was a pretty big flub up there. Just goes to show how human you really were no matter how much lightning came off those fingers and peals of fragile thunder from that voice. Thanks real garcia family for sharing him with us. We R ever grateful
god that women is fucking rich as fuck off of all jerrys hard work, years of time and energy spent too give US the people the music we all have learned to cherish today...fucking jerry doll...cmon now thats just the exploitation of a man
"The ties make more than the music'. Maybe - but does it matter? Why even make the comparison. People will still be listening to Jerry rolling into those awe inspiring mixylodian mode solos long after the ties have gone the way of Beatles wigs.
In truth, I personally never 'got' the GD. That said, his widow is representative of everything that can go wrong in estate planning. She is the avatar of greed and insensitivity. Not even letting his friends and family attend the service and then tossing his private possessions out for bid? So wrong. A 'Jerry Doll'? That's just plain disrespectful and tacky.
Deborah seems like the consummate opportunist. She denied Carolyn, Manasha, and his little daughter Keelin access to Jerry's funeral. How incredibly sad and selfish.
It is so unfortunate that Deborah Koons is so disrespectful to Jerry's family and only after monetary gain. Must say I do miss Jerry Garcia, a great man and musician.
I remember reading/hearing that Doug Irwin could not come up with the tax due on the guitars due to their huge value. according to Wikipedia Irwin "sold Tiger and Wolf at auction. Wolf went for $789,500 including the buyer's premium, Tiger sold for $957,500 including the buyer's premium. It is believed that at the time, Tiger's price was the highest ever paid for a guitar at auction."
Deborah helped Jerry. He cleaned up while married to her. Other than that, I have nothing good to say. Protect the estate! Question Jerry's marriage? Horrible. Bad Karma. Greed. Shame on Deborah Koons!!!!!!
To me, Deborah Koons was the image of Jerry Garcia last years depression, no surprise she was his last woman. No doubt Mountain Girl was the woman near to Garcia in the most important years, the really creative ones.
So like I was saying Debora was so insulting to everyone it still hurts me today. She is now and has been in charge of the estate and had been making money ever since. She says that MG & Jerry got married for a tax purpose "For 13 years?" Koon's was so insulting to the memory of Jerry it is still a BAD TRIP in my mind. So NOW DEAD HEADS everything you buy with his name, insignia and ties Koon's get's the money. Irwin really pissed me off too. to get the guitars back then SELL THEM!
I try not to speak ill will about others--so I won't ;-) I must say, I love Annabelle. She seems so balanced, loving, and forgiving. I imagine Jerry might have been somewhat challenged in the parenting dept. but Annabelle is a great legacy. Hell, I'd rather meet and hang out with her and MGirl than the other surviving band members...except maybe Lesh. Loved his autobiography.
I understand but we never know all the détails involved in JG relationships. Also Im sure that even members of the GD were not particularly "cool". And inheritance questions always brings the monsters out ...
I do not like Debra as a person. She deserves NOTHING OF Jerrys in any manner of form. It's So Sad that Jerry didn't protect himself. She did fend off some law suits, but to deny Mountain Girl what Jerry had personally agrees to give her. Un Freaking Believable. That's what GREED Does. I must say It's very rare that I make a comment. This just bothers me enough to hammer out a response.
" I figure Jerry was a rock star". Hmmn, no he wasn't. He was a wonderfully talented and eclectic musician. It's a crying shame that his own widow would be grubbing money out of parody of the Monkees circa 1966 style tacky and tasteless little dolls. For those of us who loved him for his talent it's a bit stomach-churning.
This was nothing more than highlights, I am sure there are details that only the family knows, I have no problem with the dude cashing in on the guitars, got to do what you got to do to get through it all.
I find it unbelievably ironic that Garcia - and all that the band stood for originally - has been reduced to an extremely unseemly squabble over the ‘body’. The merchandising of JG’s memory would be funny if it weren’t so lamentable...a long strange trip that ended with a predictable money grubbing final chapter.
Manasha was child practically. Deborah, Jerry was scared of her, and it kept him more "in line". Yes addiction to heroin and cocaine is hard to break. If only he had eaten better, his diabetes really hurt him too.
the widow is the major cash merchandiser after paul mccartney, she converts garcia's memory to gold: jerry turns into her cash cow, and she brings in the lawyers. the band attempts to profit from garcia's guitars.. and his guitar maker is forced to sue. hey kids... it turns out it wasn't the counter culture, it was the "over the counter culture." poor jerry- marries a female midas and then watches as the relatives and "friends" squabble, scratch, and moan over his newly collected ashes.
Ok. Now on the Jerry's guitars & Doug Irwin & the band. Again with the Greed. Something's are priceless & those guitars that Jerry bought from Doug ( at a very fair price in my opinion ). Now for Doug to turn around & sale the guitars "OUTSIDE of the FAMILY" was kinda lame. Although its unlikely anyone ( in the family) would had that kind of cake to spend. Real bummer in the end. Another case of being exploited & everything your against happening to you in Prince.
Of course those guitar's were Jerry's. Can you imagine the WHO telling Entwhistle's estate that his collection(worth substantially more then Jerry's) belonged to the band.An incredibly selfish act. Been a fan for 35 years, seen 150-200 shows, had hundreds of hours of bootlegs, but as much as I loved Jerry as a person and musician, the rest of the band(except Billy) always came off as douches, 'specially Bob and Mickey.
no one gave a sh t about jerry. band members included they just keep shofing him out one stage. ratter then take a year off and make him get help he needed. I stoped seeing the dead in 93 because the shows suck ass in 93 my tape deck still when till the end and not one good show.
