I think we all hope that when our time comes we will have left someone behind who loved us the way that you clearly loved Jerry Jeff. I could listen to you sing his songs and tell stories for a week. It's truly remarkable how much you sound like him on certain songs. I will watch this again from time to time.

I lost my house to the bank a few years ago. I was blessed to keep my family and this cool claw foot tub that was longer than most. It was a beater of a house. A fisherman’s shack built in 1908. You could see through the boards to outside. A few years later I was stuck with having to finally give up the tub. A man named Dave King traded me passes to see Jerry Jeff at the rio theater in Santa Cruz. RIP Dave King who passed this year and RIP Jerry Jeff Walker.

Please NEVER let this video die. I still listen to this at least once a week and get goosebumps. i was very lucky to see Jerry Jeff at gruene hall in 2015. stood by the pool table in the left wing by the exit. got high in the port a potty and guzzled 6 packs of lonestar while shedding happy tears to each song. i sung every word to every song with all my heart. the people around me probably thought i was a luntic but i was perfectly in my element. Thank you Jerry Jeff, ill see ya down the road my friend. Thank you Todd Snider for this wonderful tribute.

I love all of the comments. And none of us are alone, are we? He was the greatest. Saw him play downtown Waco, outside. I waved my arm at the crowd and told my buddy "Look, three generations of people are singing along with Jerry Jeff." It was true. I'll always enjoy and always miss him.

I was born in New Orleans, and went to high school in Texas. I was blessed with Jerry Jeffs music for many years. I knew Babe Stovall (Bo Jangles to some)back in the day. Saw him every day for a while when I lived above Bonaprt's Retreat. Saw Jerry Jeff play all over central and south Texas. Started playing guitar myself because of him. Still playin that old Texas music. Saw him and the Lost Gonzo Band one night in Kingsville, with three beautiful Texas sisters, and got a kiss from the youngest one that night, that I will never forget. Sweet angel. He was always a part of my life and my music. I knew this day was coming, but it still hurts. Jerry Jeff, Towns Van Zandt, Guy Clark, all gone, but NEVER to be forgotten. God Bless their music, and God Bless Texas.

Thank you, Todd. I started my career with ten Peter, Paul, and Mary songs, and Bojangles. Still runs out like honey. I learned "My Old Man" and then sucked up "Night Rider's Lament" and "LA Freeway" off the same album. Then NAVAHO RUG, I learned "Feel Like Hank Williams Tonight". JJ taught me how to sing 'em. I had all the same heroes, did a dozen Kris songs and a half-dozen Prine, and same with Nanci Griffith. Opened for Buffett in Key West, Good Friday of '76, Can't believe it's our time in the barrel. This was as good a two-hours as I ever spent, brother.

He has been a part of my "musical favorites" since the mid 70's. I don't feel like my life musically is any longer complete. Grateful for every song, every time I saw him and right now I am listening to a crackly vinyl of High Hill country rain. Thanks Todd for embracing this wonderful talent. I have seen you a couple of times at Bells Brewery in Kalamazoo and love your music and message. When I saw JJ just before Barack Obama was elected. His words were "Lets hope for a kinder, gentler nation". I quoted him many times. Drinking and singing along to now "Charlie Dunn". xoxo

Wasn’t sure what to do when I got the news of his passing, but I needed to do something more than just feel the emptiness. Your share was much needed and appreciated. As his music always has (since ‘71 for me), it made me feel better and helped me cope. You, like your mentor, bring it raw and real. Doesn’t get better than that. R.I.P. JJF Rock on TS

Thanks Todd. I never wanted to picture a world without a Jerry Jeff Walker in it. Isn't it cool the way his eyes sparkled when he smiled? I can't count how many times I have seen him play. But one night sticks out. It was a small bar in the north west area of New Jersey called The Stanhope House. He was obviously a bit hung over and they had given him a guitar he was not happy with. He ended almost every song with "this f ing guitar".. It was obvious that Jerry didn't care for people yelling out requests. This one fellow was drunk and he kept yelling for Jerry to play The Wheel. Finally Jerry called him out and said hey you can yell that all night and I still wont play the "mother f er...lol. What a guy what a Talent. There will never be another like him and that's the way it should be. R I P Jerry and thank you for all the songs and the stories and the memories. Thank You also again Todd for this tribute...

JJW fans like me all over sending their love to you and through you to Jerry Jeff's family and friends. He was the touchstone for my music way back when and he introduced me to so many of my favorites for a lifetime. Guy, Jesse Winchester, Butch Hancock, and on and on. I never really knew him. As luck would have it, I moved to Austin back about 15 years ago. Would see him around now and then. Met him a couple of times. But I have close musician friends who were very close to him. All held him in highest regard. We will not see his like again.

Thanks, Todd. That was much needed today. "Viva Terlingua" made the music I like as cool as rock and roll. I went to Willie's picnic in '76. Around 4 o'clock in the morning, a few of us gathered down in front of the stage and passed a guitar around. My turn came and I belted out "London Homesick Blues" and since I sing really loud, I got quite a few people singing along. When I finished, a guy on the performer's side of the fence, said, ""Leon wants to borrow your guitar.' and I'm like "what?" and he nods back over his shoulder, and there's Leon Russell and Steve Fromholtz sittin' on top of their RV. Leon waves real big. So now I gotta tell the roadie it ain't my guitar. The guy who owned the guitar said, "He can play it, but I wanna go back there with it." The roadie kinda shook his head and went back. I looked at the guitar owner and said, "What the hell is wrong with you, man? You let ME play your guitar and won't just pass it over to Leon Russell!!? Lemme tell you somethin": Leon Russell can play MY guitar anytime he wants to."

Todd you don’t how great it was to watch this again brother and you done so much for me when you did this. I can relate to life’s struggles in a lot of the ways you may have dealt with and I hope you are doing well at the moment. You helped a brother out in his darkest days and feel like I should tell you that. Keep fighting brother ,look forward and hope to hear more from you in future. Talent at its finest, you have great abilities to touch so many of us that have to live day to day and know there is a way to beat the odds.

Todd, Thanks for this. I've been a big fan of yours for 20 years and I know how much not only JJW meant to you but also Billy Joe and Prine. You are kind of carrying the torch for all three of those giants, and I know you are making all three of them proud. I have an old guitar I carry around to shows, you were the third person to sign it. the signees, in order of when they signed it, are: Billy Joe Shaver 2002 JJ Cale 2004 Todd Snider 2005 Jerry Jeff Walker 2006 John Prine 2008 Fred Eaglesmith 2011 Tony Joe White 2013 I didn't have my guitar with me for an epic Guy Clark show in 02, and I didn't start going to shows until 97 so I missed Townes, but other than those two I feel like that's a pretty nice list of badasses!
