Performed at the Dark Shadows Festival Weekend in Tarrytown, NY in July 2012. Nancy and Jerry recreate the roles of Carolyn Stoddard and Tony Peterson who encounter each other at the Blue Whale decades after their last meeting.
Nancy Barrette graduated from College High School in Bartlesville Oklahoma 5 years before I did. Imagine watching her on Dark Shadows while I was still in highschool. She got this part within a year of graduating. What is even more fun to me, of course, was decades later around 2001, becoming friends with all those on Dark Shadows when I first talked to Kathryn Leigh Scott who ran Pomegranate Press about the Dark Shadows Tarot. Jim Pierson gave me the entire series and said 'get with it's. They were even thinking about about putting a card in each episode in the DVD releases. Did get a publisher and all the needed permissions to do the deck from Dan Curtis-each card included a frame of the series with a quote from the episode (with citation) that explained the meaning of the card. Got a publisher. Jonathan Frid, David Selby, Kathryn Leigh Scott and Lara Parker we're all signing the cover card which was a picture of Collinwood. Would have taken them to the festivals to sell. Unfortunately for me, Johnny Depp, way before he did the movie brought all the rights to Dark Shadows and when Dan Curtis died, Depp refused to work with anyone and would not allow anything to be published unless he got $$$. So, I could not give him his 'fair share' and Total Recall Press, the publisher did not want to give Depp money either. The deck was featured in the Encyclopedia of Tarot Volume IV. And it was the only deck that critics actually were rather impressed by and commented on. Oh well. Did get autographed photos of all the actors and sold them on eBay with the inscription 'Peace and Goodwill' and included a copy of their letters to prove they were original. For those reading this, Big Finish Productions in the UK did radio dramas featuring all the original actors. Voices remained the same so those are rather enjoyable.

I thought this was wonderful!!!! I watched them 44 years ago!!! The show was cutting edge!!! It was the best in TV!!! Thank you to all the players for a wonderful childhood experience.
Jerry Lacy had a pretty good history on "DARK SHADOWS",playing a straight role in the first season of the show,before taking on the fanatical "Rev Trask",and even playing a Deputy policeman in "HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS" (1970)
I found it touching that the song they danced to at the end was very frequently played on the jukebox during scenes at The Blue Whale 🐋 - such a nice touch!
haha! I just found out this song had been retrospectively titled "No. 1 at the Blue Whale" on an album of Dark Shadows music. Now *that* makes me smile!!
She looks good. From 10 to almost 60, I sure don’t the same. At 16 I had the Carolyn vibe. Don’t look bad for having 20 surgeries and the doc thought I was younger. Revived several times. Carolyn/Nancy was my hero at ten. She’s about 15 yrs older than me now and no doubt in much better shape. This is cool, but they should have been played Stairway to Heaven. Love Coni
I was only when when DS first aired. I used to watch it with my babysitter though. I've always loved it. Now that so many of the episodes are being put on RU-vid I am rewatching. I'm only up to episode 753 so I don't know this scene but I am so excited to watch the rest of the series. This performance was wonderful to watch. I feel like I've know these people my whole life... Lol. Well, in a way, I guess I have.
Just AWESOME!!!! Nancy and Jerry have still got it. Funny of all of Carolyn's boyfriends, I always thought that Tony should have been the one to win her hand!!!

HERE IT IS 55 YEARS LATER & THESE ARE THE SAME FAMOUS DARK SHADOWS ACTORS BRIEFLY REPRISING THEIR ROLES AFTER A MEETING AT THE BLUE WHALE. HARD TO BELIEVE NANCY BARRETT IS 70 NOW! JUST INCREDIBLE! WHERE DID THE TIME GO? SOME OF THE ACTORS THOUGH STILL LOOK GOOD AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, SOME AGE WELL, OTHERS NOT SO MUCH. CHEERS TO THE GREAT DS ACTORS WHO ARE STILL W/US & (RIP) TO THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED ON, FOR EX: THE LATE JONATHAN FRID, THE LATE DENISE NICKERSON ETAL. That big guy that Tony thought Carolyn was still with....everyone laughed. I thought..."who?" All I can think of is the guy who played "Adam." Do you know if that was what they were referring to?
To my eye, she bears a striking resemblance to Katherine Helmond playing Jessica Tate on another bizarre soap opera I used to watch. This was a marvelous bit of theater. It would have been wonderful to be in that audience!
I wish they had a place in l california and one in new york for actors. It would have a stage, and studio and library. maybe rooms you could stay in and a couple of other things. then actors can go there act make some film for youtube anytime they wanted. and now with computers you can have any type of background. Thats something I would aprove federal money being spent on.
