Too bad they don't make them like this any more, Makes me think of all the good old days when they really had talents , ....without tons of make up and flashing lights, smoke on the screen and fireworks. These artists did not need any of that stuff ................. Thanks for upload
Right before Jerry Lee died, the final album he made was another "Boys from Farriday" with his cousin Jimmy Swaggart. It was a gospel album. Jerry said, "I know where I've been, I know where I am now, and I know where I'm going". Jerry's singing a new song now.
I remember Mickey when I was stationed at Ellington AFB in South Houston in 1964-1967. His band with lead singer Johnny Lee and Mickey on the piano and occasionally singing, were the house band at "The Nesadell" in Pasadena, His most popular song at the time was "Red Red Wine". Between sets Mickey would mix and chat with the guests. I lived in a trailer park close to the sheet metal warehouse style building, so I was pretty much a regular. I met Mickey many times and he was always friendly and smiling. Jerry Lee Lewis would always drop by when he was in the area, as did many other Country Music Artist friends of his.
my momma went to high school in Galena Park Texas with Mr. Mickey Gilley at Galena Park High School... She said that alot of girls were mean to him but she was always sweet to him and she would never let them be mean to him around her, she was a popular cheerleader and dated a football player not my dad at the time and she said that she went to his bar Gilleys years later and he was playing there that night and he seen her and dedicated a song to her I don't remember what song but she was always a big fan of his and Jerry Lee Lewis
3:02 is my absolute favorite of the sessions he did with Mickey Gilley. Catchy, good lyrics, amazing instrumentals, God like voice and the piano is to die for
Sometimes when you see these two playing together - you will see Mickey just look over at Jerry Lee with a bit of awe. They're both great, but even he (Mickey) is just somewhat amazed at how Jerry Lee plays.
Jerry Lee Lewis, Mickey Gilley, and Jimmy Swaggart. All cousins and all with incredible talent. More importantly, sinners that have been redeemed by the Lord!
Saw him perform in a country bar in the mid 80's never seen a better performer since. Played over 3 hours. Still remember it today. It could have been the rowdy bar I was in, but he really rocked it that night. Much rowdier and frenetic performance.
Caught him back when he was "down and out" playing almost anywhere. after the 13 yr, old wife scandal....In Tallahassee . Fla. where the stage was a wrestling ring withe the ropes down.....he rocked that piano so hard it started to bounce....I kid thee not....it bounced!.....he called out to his equipment guys...."buy this damn stage for me....I want it!"
thank you Yankee for posting this. JLL tthe greatest pianist , Mickey his cousin what a pair and how blessed both in the music. They both left us this year . Mickey had his dance hall in Pasaden,Tx. on the outskrt of Houston so he was very well known..JLL just left us 10-28-22. RIP JLL & Mickey, tank yu for our great music you left us, it will never die.
At 4 min 23, when jerry sings " lord i know just how they feel " it maybe seems nothing for some people, but the feeling for thinking and doing that little note is something unique that only singers can really understand. This is why is he so much better than elvis for me. The king would never made a note like this. the killer is so talented !
I was so blessed to be able to see JLL in person. Even got to hold his had. Wow like always he put on one hell of a show. Love and miss you JLL. Rocking and Rolling in Heaven now.
Rest In The Heavens Above Jerry Lee "Killer" Lewis and Mickey Gilley. Grew up on these guys. It will never be the same without them. Oh and Rest In The Heavens Above Mr. Ralph Emory.

jonthan1985 howell Same with Jimmy Swaggart. They all learned to play by the same person.. It was either Mickey's or Jerry's mother. They all three play the same way.
Jerry and Johnny are singing together again ... Thanks Jerry for a great time ... May God comfort Jerry's loved ones during this temporary separation ... Thank you Jesus !
Wonderful Talented cousins. Be awesome to have the three of them cousins together. Jimmy Swaggart,. Jerry Lee Lewis,. Mickey Gilley. Imagine that!.🤷♀️
Mickey gilley looks younger. He joked ‘ cant tell theres only 6 mths difference in our ages. Jerry said something and they both laughed. Jerry born sept 1935. Mickey gilley born March 1936. Exactly 6 mths.
My grandfather was best friends with another of their cousins. My grandfather stayed at Mickey’s mom’s place when they went to Louisiana to go fishing. He saw Mickey live, and another of his relatives Carroll Gilley sing and play similar to them. My grandparents loved both Jerry Lee and Mickey. They could dance really good boogie woogie to this type of music.
When Jerry Lee passes from this world it will officially mean the greatest rocker and roller and the 2nd greatest country singer ever was or ever will be is gone but as long as me and my kids are alive he damn sure won't be forgotten.
++Βασίλης Κυριακίδης Willie's a great song writer but not quite so hot a singer. Of all the fine Country singers there have been apart from Ray Charles with his occasional excursions into Country, not one, male or female, could come near him putting out the emotion of a song and convince me that he or she was really experiencing what was being sung about. Maybe I felt that because a lot of them seem kind of generic in the way they sing and handle t e songs. You certainly could never say that about Jerry Lee with his bluesy slurs and slides and the way his piano so beautifully underlining his singing. I certainly didn't like all Jerry Lee's songs, but there are a number of songs he covered that no-one else could come near to in expressing such emotional intensity. A great, great Country singer.
++Βασίλης Κυριακίδης Willie's voice doesna do it for me. Jerry Lee has something about his voice that reaches me. Added to that, part of his impact, is what he does with it with those embellishments and his piano accompaniments. I'd definitely put Jerry Lee up at number one. You reckon Willie Nelson? Is that because of his singing, or is it also taking into account his writing?
