I used to wonder if my life had purpose or meaning, then I heard Jerry sing the line "cause theyre people there that care a little bit about me and won't let the po boy down". I could die happy
I know it's not a competition but in my opinion most covers Jerry did are better than the original. The only one I've heard so far that isn't is Early Morning Rain
Jerry Reed was a great singer and guitars why didn't he sing more of those songs and come out on records and he also sang some slow songs about love he's really talented person love to hear him all the time and when he sang Chuck Berry songs here they were great just as greatest Chuck Berry.
too bad Jerry didn't play some lead. this is big time. I'm seeing this about 3 weeks after Chuck passed, rest his soul .I'd like to find an old tape of BB KING w/ JERRY REED on TV. both playing electric guitar ,around 1980 ish.
That prooves: Jerry could play ALL - blues, jazz, boogie, country - just terrific! Sadly the guy on the lead guitar overplays him; they should have changed the roles; Jerry had to play lead...
Everyone knows county is the base of rock and roll!! From Waylon to Buddy Jerry to Berry!!! All music with the clip a te clock beat is country and that is what rock is based on!!!
@@adrianjames1940 right on my humanoid brother! Different strokes and all, may the great spirit shut your mouth and open your mind! Sex, Droids and Lak & Roll!
Jerry should be the lead guitar, not strumming an acoustic guitar. His playing is drowned out by the electric guitar, which is a shame. Jerry should play lead electric guitar and do Chuck Berry properly.
Several points - a medley tribute of popular songs was common on variety shows like Wagoner’s. When well-done like Reed’s Berry medley, they renewed interest in the original artists’ works, bringing in sales and royalties if the artists still owned the rights. If new medleys garnered enough attention, they could lead to covers being recorded, garnering more royalties, or updated releases by the original artists. Also, I believe Reed and Berry were acquainted as they’d both been in the business for ages. Reed was known as being a supreme pro and nice, not the sort to piss on Berry’s legacy.
