Jerry';s Nugget is a blast. Filled with every local Vegas dweller, leather skin, cigarette coughs, whiskey sours and a lot of dreams lost. But they are all sharing their loneliness together.
I went to Jerry's twice last year. The first dinner was the 'English' cut like the one you show. Mine was perfect. Two days later I went back and tried the 'Double' cut. It was perfectly cooked and as tender and juicy as could be. However, it was way too much to eat. I killed about 1/3 of it and I was done. I was one happy customer. I packed up what was left and went back to El Cortez. On my way into the casino a poor homeless guy hit me up for some cash so he could get something to eat. I gave him my left-over dinner and he couldn't believe what I gave him. He was overjoyed and so was I. That's a night I'll never forget. For Prime Rib, I think Jerry's is a great place to get your money's worth. Nice place to gamble, too.
I appreciate that you get off the beaten path and show us lesser known restaurants. If you are ever at the Gold Coast I would love to see a review of DuPaars, forgive any misspelling. They are famous for their pancakes. I like your videos and kind demeanor.
Thank you Amy. One of my best friends live in Summerlin so I go to Suncoast to watch movies and hang out from time to time. I've walked past that restaurant a few times, haven't tried it. I'll add it to my list of places to check out eventually. Thanks for watching!
Shin: yes - the exterior of the prime rib looked very juicy so I was equally disappointed to hear the interior was dry. Still, a good deal considering they give a pretty good-sized salad and a quite large baked potato. I always like your videos where you review prime rib from different restaurants. Prime rib is one of my favorites but I have not had it for many years. So I especially enjoy your prime rib reviews
This was a good report on your meal. When I lived in Las Vegas I went to Jerry's Nugget a few times. The first time a friend I had at that time took me. Went back once or twice on my own.
Well thank you for doing that review I go to Jerry's Nugget cuz it's near my house and I've had their prime rib and it was really good like you said maybe it was an off-day thanks again I love your videos
Judging by the rest of the food I had, I had to assume an off day on the prime rib. I'll definitely return to try it again. Thanks for watching Claire!
Nice! I'm 100% going to return to try out more of the food. The zucchini sticks were so good so I know they make good stuff in that kitchen. Maybe I'll try the pork chop next time. Thanks for watching Scott!
😊😊😊good video. I've never had a bad piece of prime rib at Jerry's. One of the best in town. Especially since Ellis Island raised their prime rib king cut to like $34.00. I've been eating the prime rib at Ellis Island since it like $9.99
A lot of people I know is intimidated by going to Northtown especially that area of n las Vegas Blvd/lake Mead but I absolutely love going to Jerry's Nugget coffee the prime rib is usually very juicy and tender I believe it was an off day just as you mentioned..the ribs are also great for the price,it's our stop before going to palomino club across the street with friends to make it rain a lil bit lol
The zucchini stickers looked freshly homemade. Not from a distributor. Funny you said almost a Greek influence. When you were looking at menu, I thought it looked like a Greek restaurant / 24 hr diner type menu. Looks like a fun place.
I still stand by it, probably the best zucchini I've ever had. It's a nice coffee shop. If it was closer to me, I'd probably go a lot more often. Thanks Sandra!
Try Four Queens, Magnolias Veranda for prime rib. I think it was about $22 and available at 4. I can’t wait to go again, delicious. We got seated before 4 and kinda hung out, waitress was so nice. She let us order the prime rib before it was time and started us off with a salad. They get busy, when we finished, there was a line. $22 is for a complete meal! Thank you for reviewing Jerry’s, we wanted to try it but no need.
Had the prime rib at Magnolias in February, which was my birthday month. If you are signed up for the all access players card you get a coupon for 2-4-1 entree coupon during your birthday month. Unfortunately, I ordered med rare but waitress said they only have medium, when getting prime rib it was actually med well but I just ate it. It is a good quality of meat though, better than El Cortez imo.
@@youdecide2696 I hadn’t been there in many years so had to get a new card. Worked out well, I forgot how many points you earn on the card and you get a 2 for 1 coupon, that’s what we did. We got med rare, we were probably the first ones that’s why. I think you need to try and get there close to 4. I didn’t know about the birthday coupon but my birthday is in July, we never go from June through September.
Thanks for the tip! I'll put that on my list of places to visit! I'm going to give Jerry's another shot one day. I know a lot of people who love the coffee shop there and the zucchini sticks were so good so I want to try other food on the menu. It's just a bit of a drive for me. Thanks for watching!
I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PLACE BUT THEY REALLY HAVE SOME GOOD LOOKING FOOD AND THE PRICE NOT BAD. THANKS FOR SHARING, KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK SHIN. 👏🏽👏🏽👍🏼😁
My first time visiting and although the prime rib was just ok, the zucchini sticks were awesome so I want to try some more food on the menu. I'll be returning sometime in the future. Thanks for watching Tracey!
You're in North Town now, way off the strip. This is where the many of the regular residents live. I used to walk from my house on E. Webb to Jerrys at all hours. That was my go to place when my girls' had other plans for the night. I used to be able to gamble, drink and eat for under $30 or so a night. I am sometimes missing those days. We were absolutely living life large.
Yes! I did a little bit of gaming when I came to make this video and I really enjoyed the vibe. Low key and really comfortable here. I live near South Point though so this is quite the drive for me, but if I was closer I would probably frequent them much more often. Thanks for watching Lynne!
@@VegaswithShin I really enjoy your videos and wanted to thank you for making such content. I miss those Old Vegas days. Oh the stories I can tell! LOL. Including gun shots, night walks and dealers who could cheat if they liked you!
Hi Shin! That’s more than a coffee shop! So many food choices…I like seeing these older nostalgic food places…now that’s a serving of Ranch! Sorry your prime rib was not good that time maybe next time it will be better!😊 Thanks for sharing this coffee shop! now we know where to go for cheesecake! I have a video request, since Formula 1 is coming to Vegas this year, could you do a segment on the Monorail/Tram if you have time? On where it goes? It’s efficiency? Your thoughts on the system. Thank you!
Hi Arlene. Yes, it was a very nice coffee shop. I'll definitely be making a return trip to try some of the other food as well. I could look into a tram video but to be honest with you, I've tried making non-food related videos in the past and they all came out terribly. I'm passionate about food, I'm not so much passionate about hotel rooms or monorails and it shows lol. Thanks for watching!
Some good ol' classic Vegas here for sure. The strip is much more elevated nowadays for all the finer tastes as well as fatter wallets. Lots of great stuff around the valley for locals still though like this place. Thanks for watching!
What do you do for work? You seem to be very knowledgeable about food… are you a chef? I love mom & pop diners/coffee shops as it brings back a lot of childhood memories going with my late mother. Thanks for the video.
I'm a project manager for an art studio. I enjoy cooking at home but I have no professional cooking experience. My only work in the industry is scooping ice cream at Haagen-Dazs in high school and as a host/server at Denny's during college. Food is just a passion of mine that I enjoy and I've come to really like making food videos on RU-vid. It's a very fun hobby. Mom and pop shops are my heart. My parents were small business owners so they hold a special place for me as well. Thanks for watching!
@@VegaswithShin Thank you for your response. That sounds like a fun job as a project manager at an art studio. That is awesome that your parents owned their own restaurant. I love cooking and baking as it my passion and life. It’s refreshing to see videos from someone that is also passionate about food too. Unfortunately I live in a small town currently that is surrounded by farms. I have lived in major big cities most of my life so this was quite the culture shock for me. There are not a whole lot good restaurants here and most of them have very plain, tasteless food. Yes, I will have to plan a trip to Vegas to eat properly. Thanks again!
Great video! I appreciate this post. That prime rib does need more fat left on; however, appearance wise it looks good. Question: did you happen to notice any old reel slots around the casino floor when walking through?
hi shin, this will get me in the mood to make some ribeyes on the grill. (tonight). i got, of all things, wagyu ribeyes from WALMART. yup, walmart. and they were really good the last time the hubby and i had them (did a video on that not too long ago). he likes the main part and i like the rib cap, so that works out great for both of us. if you have not yet tried the walmart wagye ribeye, i urge you to try it. but dont do the ny strip. its not nearly as good or tender.
Been wanting to eat at this coffee house for awhile now, for some Vegas nostalgia. So, did you wander across the street after your meal for some entertainment? Thanks for the review Shin, nice work!!
I'm definitely planning on making a return trip to try out some more food here eventually. It definitely has that old Vegas charm. Haha, I did not cross the street for entertainment. Maybe next time. Thanks for watching!
@@dmotta2811 Bonitas chicas and the Palomino. Palomino is the only full nude club allowing alcohol in Vegas, because they were grandfathered in prior to new law.
I think I would've walked past there before not knowing they had a menu like that lol. Where was the coffee menu? The prime rib looked slightly under to me, and for me, when it's on the rare side I find it chewy. Do they trim the cap off? Prime rib without a seasoned crust is just a chunk of meat 🤣🤣
Ed, I laughed out loud reading your comment. For a coffee shop, there was very little about coffee. Yeah, I think this cut could have done better with a bit more cook. They did trim it up quite a bit. I agree, a good crust makes for a great prime rib. Thanks for watching!
I don't recall seeing an Italian restaurant but I wasn't exactly exploring either. I went straight to the coffee shop to make the video and then back home. I do plan on returning so I'll see if I can find this Italian restaurant. Thanks for watching Dawn!
This reminds me of when I tried the prime rib at the luxor buffet...looked so juicy and tender, and when I tried it, it was the toughest I've ever eaten. I was rather shocked. LOL But maybe I'll give it a shot as you said others raved re this place you tried! Thank you John!!
Yeah, I'll be returning here for sure. If not for the prime rib, I want to try a lot of other foods too. This place especially I have friends and commenters who swear by the prime rib so I do want to try it again at some point. Thanks for watching!
Great review. I so appreciate your honesty! I hope sometime you will go to Jackson’s Bar and Grill for the 1lb ribeye. Would love to hear your review. 😊
4:53 - it looks like bottle ranch, which is way too tart and peppery for me, but when restaurants make homemade ranch, its wayyyy better. i only do homemade for dinners at home. well, i make it from the dry packet with low fat butter milk and mayo, super easy.
It was a lot thicker than bottled ranch, almost as thick as like a blue cheese dressing. But I've had some home made ranch before and wow yeah, the flavors were very good. Thanks for watching Gail!
I'll try going back. I've had more than a few people tell me they love the food there and the zucchini sticks were actually outstanding. I'm going to go back to try other food but Jerry's Nugget is kind of a far drive for me so it'll be a while before I return. Thanks for watching Kyle!
It looks like an interesting place. I don't think I would order the prime rib, but I do enjoy a good steak more. It is too bad the prime rib wasn't top-notch. I am looking forward to visiting Vegas later this week.
I'm definitely going to be returning to try more of the food there. If everything else was any indicator, they make some good stuff back in that kitchen and it may have been an off day on the prime rib. I hope you have a great trip this week Robert! Thanks for watching!
It looks like a nice clean coffee shop. Some of them are run down. The prime rib did not look good. I would like to try the patty melt or the French dip with French fries.
Prices are high everywhere but I thought the deal was still a good value. 10oz prime rib, potato, bread, and a choice of soup or salad is a pretty good haul I'd say. Thanks for watching Eric!
I'm sorry Shin but this restaurant is just lame I've seen it featured on other channels and I can tell you I wouldn't eat there, the food is just boring and not of high quality and that prime rib was just a joke I mean nothing is worse than having bad food and having to pay for it at the end.😕😕😕😕 Peppermill, hash house a go go, and even black bear diner are way better than this and what about the omelette house though I've never eaten there but I hear it's good.😋😋😋 Anyway thanks for taking another one for the team brother and by the way your last video at that Asian restaurant well what can I say the food looked good but the portions were to small and it was way over priced granted you have some good restaurants on the strip here and there but the celebrity chef restaurants are always avoided by me you're just paying extra for the brand looking forward to the next video Peace!!!!!😋😋😋😋
To be fair, I thought overall it was a decent value. You get the prime rib, a potato, bread and soup or salad for $23. I've never tried The Omelet House but I can agree that Peppermill, Hash House and Black Bear diner all have good food. M.Y. Asia is very pricey. I say it's worth visiting once as a fan of Chef Yan, but personally I'll be sticking to Chinatown here in Vegas for similar eats. Thanks for watching !
@@VegaswithShin Omelet House, a somewhat hidden gem, I've been eating there for three decades, Charleston and Rancho. Their choices are huge re their omelets, omelets are huge, enuff for two people, delicious. Hot pumpkin bread, a 'gotta have'. Homemade soups, the bean soup with ham, I always order a bowl, a cup size ain't enuff when it's sooo good. The potatoes that come with the omelet, are sliced, fried kinda like hash browns, but the taste, wow. Omelet House, my vote for a longggg time as best omelets in Vegas.
Definitely not the best cut for sure. I'd say overall still great value though. You get the 10oz cut, potato, bread, and choice of soup or salad for $23. It's a solid deal. Thanks for watching Keith!
A very good deal I would agree. Prime rib, potato, bread, and a soup or salad is still a great value at $23. I'll have plenty more prime rib videos in the future Norman so glad you like them. Thanks for watching!
$52 plus tip is terrible. Didn't look that great. Would rather go to Longhorns and get their 20oz bone-in Outlaw Ribeye, which is usually $29 including sides and appetizer breads. Chain steakhouses are now better deals and quality that most casino house restaurants in Vegas. (Except maybe not South Point if eating late-night).
Haven't been out to Longhorn before but I have heard they have awesome deals. I'll have to make my way out there one of these days. I don't know about chain places having better quality than Jerry's. I still think the prime rib here was better than one I'd get at like an Outback Steakhouse or something. $52 is with extra apps and dessert. At $23 for prime rib, bread, potato, and a choice of soup or salad, I think that's a decent value. Thanks for watching!
@@VegaswithShin Definitely give Longhorns a shot. Believe me, I swore off chains like them and Outback for about 2 decades. My Dad kept insisting to try it. I was shocked how good their Ribeyes and premium steaks are for about $30. I was thinking it was going to be the same as Applebees, which has gone so far down to microwave food since its heyday. But once Las Vegas top steakhouses all began charging $90 for the same ribeye they charged $60 just 2 years ago, I gave it a shot. That Outlaw Ribeye is excellent and enormous. Don't go for the cheaper small steaks that are $20 (they are good, just too small to be impressive). Get the bone-in 20oz.
Hmm, that's a good question. I'm pretty sure the worst I've had was at a buffet as well. In my review of the Bacchanal buffet I had a pretty poor cut of prime rib. Thanks for watching!
well, Shin, might your prime rib been better if cooked medium well? just wondering if the tough taste was from being medium or under? keep on eating and videos are appreciated.
It's totally possible. I typically get my prime rib mid-rare to medium. But maybe this cut would have done better medium well. I plan on returning at some point in the future so maybe I'll find out then but I want to try some of the other food there. Thanks for watching!
Lawry's Prime Rib is my favorite prime rib in the city but it's not a Vegas exclusive. There are locations in Beverly Hills and Dallas as well. Thanks for watching!
I typically get my prime rib mid-rare to medium but I do think this particular cut would have done better with some more cook time. Thanks for watching panjo!
