Playing in a time where there is no mobility in the league and having to lose to the All-Star Celtics, seven times stirred a fire in Jerry West. With the new rules of player mobility, he built two dynasties in LA and one in San Francisco. His amazing talent for not only seeing talent, but also understanding how it would mesh together is unparalleled. Jerry West was my idol growing up . I was in Vietnam in 69 when I really thought they’d pull it off but they couldn’t quite finish. I really suffered with Jerry. The deck was stacked against him. It was great to see his later success!

In Undisputed, Paul Pierce mentioned that Jerry West reached out to him pre '98 draft and was trying his hardest to get Paul with Kobe and Shaq in the Lakers. Unfortunately, there was no deal made and the Lakers couldn't get the higher draft position to aquire him at that time.
