My Grandpa owned the corner of Montgomery and West Side Ave. He was in the Cemetery headstone business. My dad owned the Transmission shop and my uncle owned the Auto parts store. My dad grew up on Mallory Ave and my mom grew up in the Duncan Projects. I was born in Jersey City also, at Christ Hospital and lived in JC until i was 5 then we moved to Secaucus. Nice to learn something about the city i was born, the city where my parents were born and grew up in. Thanks for this video

I grew up in the Bergen Square area in the 70’s - seeing Bergen Square/No 11 school brought back so many memories. Thank you sir taking the time to keep these historic details alive.

Very interesting. I live over on Kensington just south of JFK BLVD, but I walk through Bergen Square all the time to go to Journal Square PATH. I believe that church is still there!

I use to live on Marin Blvd and in my honest opinion is that JC has been so priced out to live, and now i live in Long Island

Why aren’t there any reference of the barracks in Greenville that I spent the first 13 years of my life?

I spent the last 40 years living in an apartment building on Van Reypen St and my apartment windows on the fifth floor looked straight east down Academy St. I knew it was a very historic area and I have attended Old Bergen Church the last 20 years, whose Dutch Reformed congregation was the first in NJ.

If you ever heard of Angelo Zingaro and making liquor during the Prohibition, as well as had some ownership in a failed bank where he took over the mortgages and ensured folks could stay in their homes, owned a lot of property in Jersey City, and also ran a bar outside of Manhattan, then you're talking about my Great Grandfather. He owned a house on Broadman parkway, and my grandparents lived in a house on Garfield Avenue. My Mother went to Our Lady of the Sorrows in the 1940s/50s.

I hear what you're saying but I feel like the ethnic parade line was a shot
