I think Six Flags was wary as to how aggressive Wonder Woman was as a coaster, and with Toro already filling that gap, they wanted something a little tamer. That’s fine with me. It doesn’t need to be as aggressive as Toro, and this is something that both the GP and enthusiasts will love.
@@jonathonedwardmiller "a little tamer" than El Toro and Wonder Woman will not be tame, as those 2 are among the craziest rides in the world. "A little less intense" would be more descriptive.
Well this enthusiast finally made it to the park for the first time ever, and was hoping it would be at least slightly more intense than it was, given that Toro was a no go. It’s still a great park. A lot of good quality rides and great atmosphere.
Jersey Devils only problem is the pacing in the second half and the overall pacing compared to the prototype Raptors isn't as good but that doesn't make this ride bad at all. The pacing may be less but it still does some things better than the other raptors, it's longer, more hangtime, more unique elements... And you got to give Six Flags credit for going with a custom layout. It may not be as good but it's different than the other raptors and that's what it does well.
Walibi Holland is Getting A Dueling RMC Raptor in 2025. With A Thrill Side And The Other One Being A Family Side. i Really Hope The Thrill Side Has The Same Pace As Wonder Woman. Coz Then it Will Be The Netherlands's Greatest Coaster Ever!
I rode it twice yesterday in the early evening and came away happy but not blown away. It definitely has some unique elements for Great Adventure and it's very smooth. I just wish it was taller and faster. While that first drop is near vertical, it's not very long. It feels like the front car is already rolling out of it as soon as the last car enters the drop. I'd place it a solid fourth behind El Toro, Nitro, and Kingda Ka.
I don't think rating a coaster on when it runs "best" is a realistic way to rate them. The simple fact is, the vast majority of rides will not take place in the evening. So an early-in-the-day ride is far closer to what most of the public will experience and is therefore far more valuable.
I agree, but i also think its important to note how much a "warmed up" ride makes a difference. That way you know whether its worth it to wait until a ride has warmed up.
This being my home park I was fortunate enough to ride this on opening day. I got the back row and let me tell you, it’s so good. Probably my second favorite in the park outside of el toro.
It's my local park and I got to ride this for a whole day. It definitely speeds up at night and I got to reride it on the same train twice in a row and realized, the weight on the people on the ride can also affect experience. First time was with a bunch of kids second time was with a bunch of grown men and the second time on the exact same train hauled like crazy
@@cccEngineer this is six months after ur reply so idk if u will see this or are still curious but it is faster because the wheels warm up throughout the day and there is less friction as time goes on allowing the coaster as well as all coasters to move faster later in the day
El toro, this, and Superman were closed today. Haven’t been on el toro in 7 years. And i was so excited to try this. Once they both reopen I’m going again. Nitro and Kingda Ka never get old though. Bizarro is great too
Two great reviews of this in one day (Coaster Studios and Canobie Coaster) - really has gotten me pumped for what is going to be my first coaster of 2021.
I can’t wait to go back and do it again. I did it 13 times that day and my sister and myself are in it a bunch. Looks like you only need to be 48 inches to do it and my 10year old nephew is 53 and he is so excited to try it. His first coaster ever was El Toro and his twins sisters at 7 years old and I may have scarred them. Right after we put them on Zumnajaro Drop. Lol . Poor kids. They are starting to love them now tho. They just did Inpulse at Knoebels.
I may have been lucky and gotten a great ride on this in the summer, but my ride was insane. The drop is on par with Toro, the MCBR was off, and the pacing was still on par with most other RMC’s I’ve been on. And it exerts a lot of positive G’s on you, unlike most RMC’s.
I rode jersey devil twice 2 days ago and I have to say it is now in my top 5 easily at six flags great adventure. The roller coaster to me is just amazing I love it. Also being that it's my first ever single rail coaster experience I loved it.
So I think of the second half is more calm and tame as a family coaster because it also may help get you ready for the end whereas the other ones are going like so fast and BAM brake run.
The stalls u get on some of the i inversion are fun, went on it for the first time yesterday and enjoyed it. First time at GA in a while and probably won’t be back for a little bit. Zumanjaro was down so I still need to come back and ride it!
I 100% agree with everything you said my favorite roller coaster at Great adventure's Kingda ka and it is my favorite roller coaster of all time that being said, I've only been to great adventure dorney , and Busch Gardens
I was able to ride it six times today and I do agree with you on a lot of things. The stall is probably the best element and the second halve does have pacing issues however in my experience the hill right before the brake run can run really fast a give a little airtime. I haven’t ridden any other raptors before so idk if this is a common issue but the way the train and restraints work is not very good. It’s very uncomfortable.
Rode it in the back row in the late afternoon on a 90 degree day, and it was amazing. The first half was a perfect 10, and the second half exceeded my expectations since I did get some airtime and I didn't think I'd get any. Number 2 in the park for me after El Toro, which is not an insult at all since it's freakin' El Toro.
Rode 7 times today. Got lucky with 4 back seats. In the backseat you feel everything, and it's a great ride for most of it. Any other seat? You feel something......but just not..... everything? It definitely felt slow in the morning. Afternoon it felt faster after running 3 trains all day. That stall did impress though it felt like it held forever
jersey devil was my first single rail i’ve gotten on, i love it, probably in my top 3 in the park! they did an amazing job, could’ve done more than 12 but i went Friday and there was a suprise rain
@@kerryalfaro9437 Yeah. They're probably close. I think Coaster Bot implied before he likes Nitro more than Kingda Ka. I guess it is kinda a one trick pony like TTD.
Rode it last Monday. The thing is, the point of the single-file seating is that it allows rapid side-to-side motions and extremely tight turns and changes of direction. Jersey Devil, being an out-and-back coaster, doesn't really take advantage of that feature of this coaster type. It's still a fantastic, re-rideable coaster. But it is tame compared to the other raptors.
The first time I rode this coaster I was waiting for the ride to open. Still has some difficulties but runs well. I had flash pass but i made it into the line before anyone else when it opened that day. Great adventure is my home park and I love Jersey devil.
i rode it 3 times today! first in the back, then in the front, then in the middle! back was def my favorite, even though it was first the thing in the morning so it wasn’t going as fast as my second two rides. i agree about the second half needing to pick up the pace a little bit, but i would also put this in my top 3 at the park, along with nitro and el toro! plus the new bbq place was really good! i’m a happy gal all around :)
When thinking of what kind of new coaster Six Flags Great Adventure would and/or should get, I had three things in mind. Based on what they have been getting and what could be coming. In that, "Jersey Devil" is basically my third choice, but probably was always the most likely. My first choice was basically "east coast racers" not that theme but a dueling launch coaster that has real length to it, with that same crazy compact stuff to fit around things while looking cool. After that, it'd be a GCI-dueling or not, but a Gen 2.0 with the new seating, inversions but mostly wood still. I say leave the steel on wood for when El Toro will eventually need it. Having said that, I am both impressed and overall happy we got this coaster. I could care less if they clone it in cali. I'd change the ending to be another heartline roll and thus 4th inversion, but I agree on the 9 out of 10. Hauls, comfortable, crazy, airtime, hangtime, length, and line moves way faster. I do hope we can get one of those others by 2025, in fact I hope they keep cheap on new rides like add a chance freestyle, zamperla endeavour as new rides (not the more expensive like wonder woman).
I totally agree with you on the second half. I actually got stuck on the midcourse when I rode it in the back. It really killed the second half pacing.
My personal thought-those last hills would of been better if one of them were an inversion..wish it went into the brake run out of a roll like Helix from Liseberg
I think this coaster is awesome. It’s the only single rail I’ve ridden but I agree the pacing could’ve been better in the second half however I rode it 2 times earlier in the day. Can’t wait to get an evening or a night ride on this.
As a person who is getting into Rollercoasters, I would say I'm hesitant on riding this just because it's single seating, i cant get that emotional support from a friend that sits in front of me (😂). The shoulder restraints look like they move around. I wanna feel secure especially with that hang time
I went to Great Adventure on Friday, and this ride was closed for most of the day. It finally opened at around 5. I got 2 rides on it, and the mid course was turned off both times. The drop off of it was really good, but other than that, I don’t think it changed the intensity of the last half of the ride very much.
Yo Taylor… on the mid course did you notice how the train slows down quite a bit? I wonder if that was intentional for the turn, or if they just have to dial that brake in…? If it didn’t slow down so much, I feel like it would be better on the second half.
this was my first raptor and I went on this baby twice today. first in the middle(seat 7or 8) and 2nd close to the front(seat 4). i wanted to ride the back so bad but didnt have the chance. hopefully some time this summer but man this ride is my top 3 for the park. me and my friends loved it. as for the ride experience, the first half is amazing, the pacing was great. the second half is lack luster imo. it reminds me of the ending for nitro which is nothing bad i just wish the pacing was the same all the way thru. like if they ran 3 trains instead of 4 and if they replaced the mid-course with a speed hill and another airtime hill. that would've been awesome. but hey i am just happy the we have a raptor at my home park. as for the restraints, the first time thru i was uncomfortable.as a 6'2 guy who has longer legs than torso, my legs were pigeon styled the whole ride but that was on me because i didnt know how to position myself. once again it was my first raptor. but the second time i fixed my positioning and i was more comfortable. overall this ride is a perfect addition to the park and i definitely recommend to everybody to ride it
I was on Jersey devil over the summer and i was absolutely stapled and it was painful on each airtime hill. Afterwards my thighs were bruised because of it. Other than that it was really fun.
Great review, the one thing you didn’t mention is how ridiculous the loose article policy is. It’s worse than Steel Vengeance, they will kick you off the ride for any loose article period. I was removed my first time waiting because I had my phone in my cargo pants pocket which was buttoned. They also give no warning at the entrance so i’m sure many gp are upset.
I was there yesterday and they were watching the entrance like absolute hawks. I didn't even look like I had anything in my pockets (because I didn't) but the guard there still asked me to squeeze my pocket to show it was empty.
I rode this yesterday. My thoughts on it: the ride is very good. It’s jammed packed with a lot of elements. And got some good air time on it. The downside to this ride is when seating, it made my legs cramped. Felt some pain in my legs after the ride. I would give this ride a 7/10. It would be higher if it didn’t give my legs some cramps.
OMG I literally rode it earlier today and thought I was, like, crazy because I had thought my leg cramped up during it. Turns out I must have been right!
When I rode Wonder Woman: Flight of Courage today before my shift, I blacked out on the final valley. I've greyed/blacked out on the dive loop and the crow's nest. Did this ride make you greyout or blackout?
A helpful audio tip, you should use a low cut/high pass filter on your voice. Your mic is picking up some low frequencies that are really loud so if you cut everything below ~100hz you won't have those explosive audio moments anymore.
The ride actually stabbed me in the leg while I was riding. Not bleeding but it caught my pants and scraped my leg. Overall it was an awesome ride though. Nitro is a good one too
I was there in April and saw it being built and I was there 2 days ago and went on it. It malfunctioned and a full cart got stuck at the top of it and it took a solid 15 minutes to fix but otherwise the roller coaster was great
I rode it three times this past Saturday and all three times it was so good and the only seat I noticed the mid course was near the middle but the other two seats I noticed nothing I actually got back row my first ride of the day
But if you could only get one ride on JD or WW, would the far shorter coaster still be better? Or, since JD has higher capacity, would you wait an hour for JD, 90 min. for Stunt Pilot or 100 min. for WW?
My feeling going into this is that the ride will have some pacing issues after the mid course and that you have to ride this coaster in the back row. I've been on 13 RMC's and my expectation going in is that this would be near the bottom of the ones I have ridden. Still a great ride.
