100% agreed. It seems integrity on RU-vid is something people sacrifice for more views and it’s absurd. I feel there’s a responsibility many creators don’t actually take when it comes to the influence they have over others and the clickbait has been unbelievably stupid now. Love your vids btw notvixios Keep doing what you do chief 🫡
He probably got hit up by Lunchly's legal team and he wanted to clarify his position which is not negative. I also recognize that people on the internet just want drama
Misrepresentation of someone's views, particularly a medical professional's perspective, is damaging. It's admirable that you're determined to continue offering accurate and reliable information without being deterred by the misinformation.
@TenderIS: definitely a valid possibility that it’s an AI generated post, but admittedly if I’m in the middle of reading medical research or working on something in a professional setting my writing tends to reflect that, even if it’s something as simple as a RU-vid comment 😅 so it certainly isn’t unheard of.
Those fake tweets on thumbnails are a real problem on youtube because it's the new clickbait now. And the worse thing thing is they don't show any tweets throughout their videos.
This is far beyond clickbait. These people are openly committing libel, and exposing themselves to damages. This would be an open and shut case for the courts. I hope Dr Mike considers teaming up with @LegalEagle for this one.
I unfollowed so many ppl that use these annoying thumbnails. I know you gotta beat the algorithm but some take it so far, and the content is so far removed from what their baiting... sorry but no
Omg hi! I literally just watched your collab with jake and dogpack and left a comment on this vid recommending it to Mike's viewers about how people are finding mould in the cheese lmao I feel like people will forget about Dr Mike pretty soon once that news spreads 😂
I think alot of those clickbaiting youtubers owe you a huge apology for making you look like when you were team red or blue when you didn't even choose a side
@@erreyakendo8290 they will try to acknowledge it when they do a video covering this video, and after a few days, they'll go back and do the same thing all over again
Thank you Dr. Mike for your honesty and professionalism. I wish all doctors and the internet would do the same. We need more caring and helpful people in the world. ❤❤❤
Well said, Dr. Mike. Hopefully enough people out there recognize that you’re not the kind of person/doctor that is advertised on those click bait thumbnails or they soon realized the thumbnail was false advertisement given they wouldn’t be able to pull anything from your Lunchly review that would support their accusations. Thank you for always being a reliable and ethical source on the internet ❤
I think the whole situation tells more about peoples feelings towards MrBeast & Logan Paul, than anything else. I can relate to that, but not the hyperbole & misinformation..
unfortunately "enough people" is a bit vague imo. A majority of these people likely won't even go find the source video and even if they do they might still feel the fake videos are truth because they have no critical thinking skills and may believe they do. My roommate currently is like that getting upset about an interview Harris had with fox news claiming she said things she didn't say or was deflecting the questions. I personally felt she answered the questions adequately considering the topic of the conversation.
It's a shame the thumbnail lords don't go after the misinformation spreaders with that inciting misleading content. They could do so much good if they put that enthusiasm and energy into helping others instead of their own veiw counts.
Too many people listen to attack beliefs that aren't theirs. They should listen to learn. Question. Research. Then make an opinion based on that but that is absolutely not what's happening
"In general, we as a society forgot how to listen, and therefore we react as we percibe reality, not necessarily as reality is." hey, i remember pizza is a healthy vegetable and i live healthy ever since XD
No surprise. Content creator(mostly Slop and Twitter) thought it would be good content to farm view/click for-profit and throw away any crucial information that doesn't fit their narrative.
The lack of nuance across the Internet is a major problem. I've noticed it across all social media platforms. It just pits people against each other instead of creating a worthwhile discussion.
Lack of nuance and exaggeration are what generate clicks and views for most channels. So these people don't care about the truth of whatever video they're commenting or reacting, they care about increasing their viewership.
This is why i do not like a lot of Social Commentary Channels. They use false clickbait till get people to watch. It gets out of hand, milked, and worse spread false info. Good job calling it out
I'm so happy you're actually talking about this, I'm sick of the "LUNCHLY IS FINALLY OVER" shit. Commentary channels are near always slop now and people eat it up like they're starving to death.
Dead ass everything in this world is a Type of slop, gameplays are a type of Slop,Reaction videos are all Slop,in truth we didn’t realise we were eating slop 24/7 until the Whole Lunchly situation
100% agree. It’s sad. Nuance is purposely ignored for clout. Everything HAS to be extreme so that people will care. It’s insane what some people will stoop to, especially regarding a serious subject like health.
@YaqeenStudies I was completely confused why the algorithm recommended me this video from a channel and regarding a topic I'd never even heard of, and then I saw mog in the comments.
I've seen the thumbnails on these videos, and I think people forget that misinformation or fabrication online in spaces like Twitter and RU-vid can get people like Dr. Mike in trouble in the real world as he has to be professional in his real and online work given his position in the medical field.
@@kekeandtofo I'm a bit unclear about defamation, Is it defamation during the moment without real damage at first or is it defamation once the damage is done and has caused problems for the individuals lively hood?
@@maxbarthropp7130I’m not a lawyer so take with a grain of salt but I believe you’d have to prove damages. You have to show the statements affected your livelihood, reputation etc.
Wow that is very concerning it's also concerning that an attentive parent if they are doesn't check their kids food or try to explain to their kid what mold is and how to look for it
It's saddening to see the misuse and manipulation of your words for clicks and views. Acknowledging the importance of accurate information, especially in the health sector, is vital. Misleading thumbnails and titles, as shown here, only exacerbate misinformation.
It's 100% important to call out bad behaviour. When we talk about health and nutrition it's incredibly important. People these days want quick content that basically tells them bullet points of a whole video without going to the source. This is how misinformation is spread online and I'm glad you spoke about how others are using your content and clipping it to show you in a bad light.
I hate channels that will just get on the train of any controversy and suck it dry for all it’s worth. At that point people are just spreading or misleading people for views. Glad to see Mike that you are here for one thing. The Truth
I can't even imagine how annoying it would be for me if a dozen people out there use my face on their thumbnail, to create a false or extreme narrative that I was never involved in the first place. It's terrible you have to deal with all this, but keep being you, you are doing a good job handling this situation. As always, fantastic videos.
So glad you’re addressing this. I saw a video with the thumbnail where you “said” that lunchly was poison..and my first thought was “but he didn’t say that though?”
I didn't even watch Mike's original video, and when I saw that thumbnail that you mentioned, I immediately knew it was bullshit. I'm a bit lenient on it *because* of the fact that I don't think anybody really takes those thumbnails as legitimate quotes, but it's quickly starting to devolve into a really shitty game of telephone, and this is also a space that younger viewers who might not be savvy about that type of thing could easily misconstrue it as fact.
@@DarkAuraLord Being lenient on it just lets it spread further, and even if people don't take the quotes as legitimate if it gets them to watch the video they'll likely hear similar words from the person who made the video anyway, which just creates the same issue.
I really enjoyed how you responded. You were respectful and humble when responding to these things. Made me happy to see you genuinely and sincerely care
I have never seen such a person on RU-vid with such humility and so humbled, that he only reacted for not the sake of destroying Lunchly but to just state out what's true about it, great job Dr. Mike you have my respect.
I think Rosanna Pansino treated your video with respect and used it to support her argument without taking it out of context. She also gave some actual healthy alternatives to things like lunchables and lunchly
I watched Phillip Defranco give some news on Lunchly and mentioning Dr. Mike's video, but he mostly used it as a source and actually did a very good, honest summary of what he said, too. We love creators with integrity
@@nicanproud Philly D is such a weird anomaly in this space, the fact that he's been doing what he does for SO long and hasn't had any major scandals and still mostly remains unbiased in reporting is kinda wild to me given the landscape of youtube right now.
@@DarkAuraLord I’m glad Phil defranco has managed to stay consistent and straight for the entirety of his career, I don’t watch him anymore but will always root for the guy.
My British self says hats of to you for confronting others.Mike is that guy who's always calm even though people twist his words into something different. He know the world's not always the best as well as the internet
One thing that sucks about the internet is that it’s so easy to take somebody’s words and twist it to fit your opinions or downright change it. This has been happening for a very long time, but in a way it might be worse on the internet because of how rampant it seems.
at this point it is outright fabricating what someone said. Those fake tweet thumbnails really do need to come down. Like not the video themselves sure, but the thumbnails yes.
"You forget that I have a responsibility to tell the truth." Why am I getting choked up.... Your conviction to state only facts is SUCH a breath of fresh air. Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou
When I was here from the beginning, I was hesitant on you gaining popularity and was scared I'll stop watching you (like some Dr. RU-vidr who is now promoting supplement sponsors) But you always stayed humble, always stayed true to your medical side of things to make sure everything is correct and not preferring viewers over your morals. This is an amazing followup video, thank you
The fact that you adressed the situation for what it is and pointed out people exaggerating your take on lunchly which can be misleading shows that how much care about your audience (specially kids who are vulnerable to these) . Thanks for your hard work ,you have my utmost respect.
What's the problem with exaggerating on a food item that is absolutely terrible nutrition wise for a kid. Are you aware about the amount of trash that kids in America are eating on a daily basis falling for influencers and advertisements.
@@petrichor259 that is the worst take ive ever heard, overexaggerating to that degree will just lead to people either being desensitized to that kind of news or straight up believe that any piece of news that serious is probably just fake news even if it isnt. Also what "influencer" are you talking about
This is just many ways of so called “RU-vidrs/Content Creators” whom will do anything to get views, even if it means ruining someone’s image in the process, which is disturbing. So hats off to Dr. Mike for staying professional.
He examined the new lunch product and the internet blew up with fake news! His real point: honesty matters, especially for kids' health. Let's support creators pushing real, healthy options. Thanks for keeping it real Dr. Mike! 👨🏻⚕💪🏻
I love how much integrity Dr. Mike has. He doesn't play into anything special, like fake stories and mis-repsentations for his opinion, he actually considers the merits on both sides, and even supports the opposing side for the goal of truth, not beliefs.
As a physicist who also encounters a lot of misinformation, it is great to see when other experts use their knowledge to help educate people and debunk misinformation.
People using a Dr to take someone down is sick. People need to listen. He didn't attack lunchly, he broke down components to a degree. Not attack, there's a difference. I come from a family of people who's in or was in the medical field and lawyers and military.
It sucks because Doctor Mike kept it to a strictly professional standard, talking about what he knew as a doctor, and people turned this into influencer drama. Thank you for the video!
Thank you Dr. Mike for not only providing professional criticism and knowledge about Lunchly and its problems regarding it's 'healthy' promotion, but also addressing internet drama with high professionalism and maturity. My respect to you, and thank you for educating your audience about these matters.
I just want to say, I started following you about 10 years ago, when I was in my teens and some newspaper talked about you as "the hot doctor" (hate that now, but was hooked at age 16 :D), and now I'm studying to become a (possibly children) therapist and just love how you manage to combine entertainment and knowledge, without turning into some sort of "know it all guru" or doing only what's "trendy" at the moment. I really appreciate the work you do on here and have learned so much through you and also the guests you've interviewed. Guess I just wanted to say thank you for being you (as far as we get to know you) :)
Exactly. Nuance is LOST in social media. Most people want an answer to issues they have now, and most people aren’t interested in hearing the nuances of situations because it’s not attractive and enticing online 🙄 Thank YOU Dr. Mike for sharing the boring, often unsexy, truth on topics. This is a great example of how many, many, things on the internet are fake and this is probably one side creating a false conflict and posting for both sides using fake accounts. Remember kids, go outside, touch grass, talk to real people that you can see and touch and interact with.
Agreed. In spite of being social animals we always seem to invent new ways to cut our social interaction down, even the newspaper proved a way to keep people from talking to each other and keep them doomscrolling, or in their case, doomturning. We need real interaction, there's a reason why solitary confinement is such a dire punishment. Here online everything is too tailored to be natural no matter how much we could try, these extra layers of safety and lack of a voice and face strip away the human elements of conversation. Theses interaction are so carefully tailored I bet you may have thought for a second I could be a smart person with my attempts at proper grammar and my structured comment layout, but in reality I am actually a very average person intelligence-wise who just happens to focus a lot on keeping my messages online easier to read by using breaks.
Dr Mike has officially reached peak of humans and the truth, we need more people like him, because he doesn’t keep creators in check, he expresses the truth and nobody like him deserves hate nor backlash
