The Jersey Freeze on Route 9 North has been a staple of the Freehold area for decades. This historic frozen treats shop has recently come under new management and they have really revamped the experience to focus on food as well as ice cream. They're telling us all about what they're serving up hot and cold and why the Jersey Freeze is still the same old favorite people know and love.

Jersey Freeze has been a stable in my life since I was a young child. My parents would take my sister and I there for a custard and then later as an adult I would go with my aunt or by myself when I went back to NJ on vacation and get an egg salad with coleslaw and a pickle. Loved it. Glad its gotten more robust.

Jersey Freeze---my first real job. I think I worked there the summer of 1963. Yes. It was a main young people's hang out on the Rt. 33 circle for years and years and attracted many lunchtime crowds headed for an afternoon at Freehold Raceway, just up the road about a half mile away. Unfortunately the Freeze's time eventually ran out and it's now been replaced by an Olive Garden restaurant. All is ephemeral, fame and the famous (locally) Jersey Freeze as well. R.I.P.

So sorry if I screwed up. I could have sworn I drove past there a few years ago and it was an Olive Garden. Glad to see JF is still there. I moved from Freehold 13 years ago after retiring from the iconic Nestle plant. Have visited the area occasionally to see our children and drove past the JF site, where I must have been hallucinating. Again, so sorry.
