Thanks for showing the play in the mounting. Have you thought about installing a few washers under that bolt? I've got one on the way and I'll probably end up doing that.
I have a pair of 12s but I want something portable on the fly for easy listening... I was considering a pt 01 scratch with a tone arm upgrade would you recommend it?
I bought myself this and the JD fader for Xmas. fader was a breeze to install, buttt I've been avoiding installing the tonearm tbh bc it's my only turn table and i dont understand the grams of pressure etc and I'm afraid I'm gonna break the needle or a record immediately. Am i being paranoid? or can u direct me to a video that explains what all this means to a n00b? :)
You're being a bit paranoid TBH, you got this! The needle tells you how much pressure it can handle in the manual. Just give it a quick read through. Usually 4-5g is ok for any scratch needle.
hey so I upgraded to the jesse dean tone arm. but now if I throw a 12" on my PT01 scratch the tone arm is at a hard angle. This is bad for my stylus right? so essentially you should only be playing 45's , 7"?
Yeah it's not really meant for 12" records. The mods are meant for 7" scratch records. Check the tracking weight also, it's pretty heavy out if the box which can wear down your vinyls.
@@gabe7987 Hello Gabriel, I hope you are well! 🙂Just a question - when you said "the tone arm is at a hard angle", did you mean that the tonearm is at the edge of the 12", but *not* at 90 degrees? Or did you just mean that it's heavy (and thus it makes the 12" bend down) ?
How do you know how many grams you are putting on the needle? I have the same tonearm. Any advice. I know the video is old but thought i would give it try.
