I might have a different view because I watch South American qualifiers and I’m up to date with what’s going on and same up here in North America with the mls. I'm from Arg but congrats to Team Canada for an excellent match. Liked all his answers except the one about the third place match. He should not downplay it like that. It is an honor to be the 3rd best team in an entire continent. Both teams (and fans) are going to look forward to that match. Saying fans are not interested was a very poor choice of words. But he'll learn ;) best of luck, hope Canada wins 3rd place.

This is what happens when Canada puts on their greatest performance at a big tournament. The criticism, the player bashing, the lack of scoring, Laryin sucks, Millar shouldn’t play…the list goes on. First off, success brings negativity from some and higher expectations for others. David scored one of Canada’s 2 goals in the tournament. He also scored in the shootout. His work rate was outstanding, he ran more than he usually does and I think he was strong defensively and made some great reads. Could he have been better? Yes. Was he disappointing? No. Argentina is the best team in the world, possibly the best team ever with arguably the best player to ever play the game. Messi didn’t score until today…and he missed his shootout attempt…and he didn’t play his best games. He’s also on a great team who have played together for years. Are you cranking on him too? Canada was beaten by a better team. Canada looked tired today. They have played so well and yes we can all want them to play better, but perspective needs to be in play. I’m disappointed that fans are “disappointed” with a players performance after this remarkable run. There is no disappointment from this guy.

Steven Vitoria, Derrick Cornelius, and the young kid (can't remember his name) have been great for team canada over the most recent years, but a CB of top flight caliber, a real anchor on the back end to keep things organized, bring experience, that would be massive for team Canada. Rotation is always one of the most important Factors in Big Soccer Tournament Success. Even if you have the top 11 players in the world, you will not succeed with them in a 5, 6 or 7 match tournament, people have limits. Had Canada had a larger pool, definitely it can go far and win big tournaments. You have to rest your top 4 to 7 key players after in the 3rd game of group stages and after that too. Grow more after this success and aim higher. Don't feat the hard work you have to do, it's never easy. Even if you aim lower, you still have to be accountable and show up for work etc.. May as well go for the Gold, it will come easier to Canada than others. But you have to work for it

The overall Canada Soccer Style can work in the World Cup, but you need to develop more defensive and offensive quality. Example once you're inside the box you have to score 1 out of 3 opportunities, we didn't see that yesterday. Defensively you have to expect what Argentina did from any good team. If I have to focus on two positions, I will say had Canada been strong in the central defender and number 9 forward positions (Stronger) Canada would have prevented 1 goal and scored 1 goal, they have had the chance to extend the game.

I am very impressed with the Canadian Soccer Team’s performance in both tournaments the World Cup and now the players play as equal with more experience teams as Colombian & Canadian I feel very proud of their performance nevertheless the next game will be the most challenging. Keep the excellent work… best results are yet to come to our national team. 🇨🇦 go go go!

Does Canada deal with the same issues like the USA where it's mostly pay to play throughout their soccer structures? I know they are in MLS, which is a huge pay to play structure, but what about the lower levels?
@MS-ii1sv
@MS-ii1sv 2 месяца назад
No. They deal with the lack of interest just like the US does. The only place anyone takes it seriously is in ethnic enclaves in big cities. Canada has considerably more Indian, Chinese and Filipino immigrants per capita than the US so the immigration thing is not really the factor that people let on. In the sense that if you want good coaching and good competition it is scarce and you need to join an exclusive club then yes there is probably a "pay for play" system. Every sport has that though so it's not really worth talking about.

They need to play a lot more international friendlies with much better teams between now and the WC from Europe and South America (teams ranked in the top 10 and ok if they lose but learn from each loss)...but this tournament is a good start... hopefully they can make it out of the group stage next WC. The level of teams in CONCACAF pretty low.

Congrats to Canada, I'm soo proud of my national team and the successful journey they've had in Copa America, I would've been more excited if they had reached the final as well, but at least Canada made it all the way to the semi final and they pulled off some great performances against all the countries! 🙂❤️🇨🇦👍✌️ Now the manager I mean Jesse Marsch just has to focus on the future and try and build a strong and competitive new team for World cup 2026!

He has done a good job, his team have excelled...This is a good match of coaching, talent and confidence building...Yes, must get more players made available...but, relative to the size of Canada in North/South American style football...They took a backseat to not one nation.....USA, like England...say their prayers before the first game...suggest they are the "IT" ...USMNT are gone, beat themselves really, then tried the passive aggressive game of insulting people...oh so American...England have fudged every game, and made the final... way better teams deserved that game...Goes to show, the game changes, is bizarrely unfair at times.....OH CANADA...yes...stand proud

There was only one way that Canada 🇨🇦 was going to win against Argentina 🇦🇷. Canada would have to play it's best match ever and Argentina would have to suffer a full blown disaster. Clearly, that didn't happen. Canada's best players, Davies and David, did not show up. Canada's offense can't score a goal. Messi was average but average is enough for Messi to do some damage. And of course, all the calls favoured Argentina. Messi tax. Also, Canada's logo is one of the ugliest on the planet. The football gods hate ugly logos, which is why France lost the Euros with their ugly giant cartoon 🐔 crest. And the Drake curse strikes again as he bet stupid amounts of money on Canada to win. All the odds were stacked against Canada. But congratulations to the Ice Ballers! You guys did your country proud. Football ⚽ loves you for it. Now go and score a bloody goal and win that 3rd place match.

Absolutely, where is Ugbo who has never got chance to Olay for Canada, Millar is garbage. Why not let Alphonso play mid and front left wing? Center back is garbage who is responsible for goal loss in last two games, who is slow and incompetent. Where is the previous ones. Besides it is team defence, room for improvement. Having said that Team Canada appears a better team under Marsh for sure, much better than under Herdman who should have been replaced before last World Cup. Herdman is garbage

Enlarging the player pool, which Canada most certainly can do with the amount of talent available, will first require a hell of a lot less nepotism at all levels. Perhaps more importantly, we need quit with the mindset of seeking and developing thoroughbred athletes and start seeking the naturally gifted footballers. Physicality is fine for CONCACAF, footballing refinement is what is required on the world stage.

Well if you know that, then how on earth you thought you could defeat the world champions, and kept complaining about referees and the Argentina team appear late for 2nd half, and asked to fine the Argentinian team, and all that drama? Glad that you were brought back to earth by their 4 goals in total.

Don't want to seem harsh but I was actually expecting Canada to win against Peru and Chile. On paper they have better quality. The only downsides were the lack of major tournament and Conmebol experience and the recent coach change. That being said, well done Canada, we need to schedule more games against higher seeded teams.

Canada and the US have the same problem. And its a unique problem that other soccer nations don't have. Our best athletes don't play this sport. Canada's best play hockey and the US best play Football and BB. Until that changes both countries will never reach European or South America top team heights.
