I love this version. Sounds like this version (which is more rocking than what's in the film or the stage version) has some influence from Elvis' "Little Sister."
Jesse Pearson was a very good actor and singer. He should have been more famous than he was.May he rest in peace. Shame he left this world at just 49 years old. 😢
Jesse Pearson was Fantastic in this movie Gorgeous, sexy, great voice and nailed every scene. The movie would have been soooo much better if he was 1) in black instead of gold 2) sang more songs and 3) Got to sing more of One Lass Kiss.. the sexiest song ever in a musical. The guy rocked and didn't get the credit he deserved. He was the main reason this movie is so great. RIP you gorgeous talented man.
For some reason, this version of "One Last Kiss" reminds me of Elvis' "Little Sister" (perhaps that was intentional.) The guitar riffs especially. Yeah, I wish this version was act ually in the movie. It's done in a tongue in cheek spoof way, but it's still rockin'!
Truly love this song. One greatest artist and talented. Love classic hit song. Remember this film movie, was a my Jr high school back 1970s in Hampton Iowa. Think was 1977 or 1978. How got start classic hit songs. Still have paper of concert school play. One greatest singer and actor. A plus. All actors 100% still have DVD and found record. Wish put on blueray DVD quality soundtrack and songs.
Just the beginning? All those little licks all through the song, and that killer break (always my fave part of the whole thing)...ah, glorious no matter how you look at it
haha I love ittt! My mom got me into this movie and we actually have the DVD but haven't watched it in yrs but I actually just watched it last night because it was on tv and all the words came back to me and I knew everything! I like him doing this in the movie better but it's still good on this too. He was a good actor I wonder why he wasn't in more things I know he was on some tv shows like Beverly Hillbillies and Andy Griffith for a few episodes but that's about it.
D*mnit Hugo! I really wish they would have held off with Hugo punching Conrad in the movie. The man could have gone on singing this for another 12 hours as far as I'm concerned. The way he looks at her while singing & steadily moving forward to crowd Kim off the platform. Sexiest 2 minutes ever put on film. I'm off to look for Jesse's Decca records now.
Bobby Vee recorded the ORIGINAL for Liberty Records in March 1960,. The following month, the song was performed on stage for the Broadway play "Bye By Birdie". Crash Craddock recorded his version in late April. In 1963, Jesse Person performed the song in the movie vesion of 'By Bye Birdie'.
@someone481 he did. i admired his good looks. he could have been the 2nd ELVIS. it's a matter of luck & the agents who promote you. it's not an easy industry. i saw him on andy griffith, the beverly hillbillies, & ? it's such a long time ago.
@nancygef so you don't know how he died? How did you find this distant relative. I know I can't find anything on the internet. I wouldn't say that's really distant that means they were second cousins then.
@someone481 when did he die? Does anyone know? I tried looking him up on google but theirs not very much info. I know he was on a few shows on Andy Griffith and Beverly Hillbillies but that's about it. I loved him in bye bye birdie I wish he would have done more.
