I was in the navy. And there was a guy in my bootcamp that wanted to be a seal. He was ripped. Not an ounce of fat. Pure muscles. He went to the training and didnt get past the first week. Being in great shape. Doesn’t mean your gonna make it. Mentally is a big part of it💯👋
From all the interviews of past seals Ive read, its more of a physical- mental fortitude thing, as long as you are strong enough physically, very good when it comes to endurance and excellent in mental fortitude, you'll be good as long as you dont get injured.
To people saying that Jesse never served in Vietnam, do some basic thinking. When you run for office, they learn everything and I mean everything about you. If his military service was made up believe me, they would've found out
+bostoncopguy He served in the Vietnam theatre of battle and received a service medal. If they did not physically deploy him within the borders of Vietnam, that is irrelevant. His unit conducted missions in the Philipines and Korea. He has a SEAL trident.
Jesse served in UDT 12. He was stationed in the Philipines and South Korea during the Vietnam War. There is no evidence of him ever having gone on a mission anywhere. I think he admitted years ago that he was never in actual combat during his military service. People did find out things when he ran for office. He had to walk back his claims about having hunted humans and I believe he had some problems with his comments about being exposed to agent orange in Vietnam.
You don't need to go into combat to rate wearing the "Budweiser," you just need to pass the SEAL course. In fact: I'm not entirely sure about this, but I do believe that in some rare cases, a servicemember can elect to go through SEAL training without accepting a spot on the teams if they pass; they would rate to wear the trident pin. Unless I miss my guess, you're talking about the National Defense Service Medal. If so: you don't need to go into combat to rate one. For that matter, you don't need to such much as deploy to a "hot area" to get one, or even be assigned to any unit of any kind at all. The NDSM is awarded to anyone who serves in either an active duty or reserve capacity within a time frame designated as the time period for a particular war. I got an NDSM for having taken part in combat operations as a tank gunner in the Marine Corps during Operation Desert Storm; when we got back from the sandbox, the new guys who joined our unit after having done nothing more than graduate from boot camp and complete the basic armor course at Ft. Knox got one too. It should come as no surprise that the NDSM is a ribbon/medal that is not typically perceived as having oodles of prestige and esteem attached to it; we used to refer to it as "The Firewatch Ribbon." As for running ops in South Korea and the Phillipines: if either the North Vietnamese or the Viet Cong ever projected military force in either or those places during the Vietnam War, this would be the first time I ever heard of it.
he smiled and asked basic questions lolol that's not real journalism, that's called a friendly interview. Not sayin hes not a real journalist, but this interview is a casual interview.... a real journalist interviews controversial people and asks the questions everyone else is afraid to ask
Like what? What should he have asked Ventura to qualify as a 'real journaist' in your eyes? Sometimes there isn't much controversy to look into, like if you're interviewing a man with a successful business. (i.e. David Tran)
aaronrus Democrats get interviewed. Republicans get interrogated. Yes, refreshing to see a real interview with a republican for a change. This is how Dems are always treated by the Leftist “media”(Marxist propagandists).
To be fair our government should take care of these vets no questions asked. Seal training is the hardest thing a human being can do, and men like 'the body' got through it. If they should ever need unemployment money when they get out, it's our duty as taxpayers to get it to them as fast as possible. Their courage provided our freedom after all.
@@jamesteegardner2273 Jesse Ventura never completed the Navy Seal process nor was he ever in any military combat situations. www.military.com/veteran-jobs/career-advice/military-transition/famous-veteran-jesse-ventura.html
I've watched many Graham interviews and I am always amazed how he speaks so little, lets his guests talk, and how his guests open up to him so freely during the interviews.
I can tell this guy takes no bs from anyone and he speaks from the heart. He tells you as it is the old school way. Yet he seems like a friendly person. As long as you don’t mess with him. We should have more people like him. Ventura, thank you for your service sir.
I was on the PT course on Okinawa, Camp Smedley Butler one morning, and a Marine got off the pull up bar and looked at his hands. There were three or four torn calluses on the inside. A gritty old sergeant was there and said, “What you need to do is go home and put some lemon on that.” The Jarhead looks at that sergeant and says, “Will that help it?” The sergeant says, “No. But, it builds character.”
I was diving with a retired Seal in Key West and had a partial finger amputation. He rendered first aid and told me “ pain is just fear leaving your body”. Still great friends with him and one hell of a dive master !
As a videographer, I had the honor of spending a day with Governor Ventura. I can tell you that he is who he appears to be. Unvarnished, unpretentious, plain-spoken and a man of dignity, principles and honor.
@@FleetaFleegalBuckFut Sorry man I have no idea where you're going with your toxic passive aggressive bs. Ventura has been playing the victim, there's no need to check Chris' service record it's well documented. Innocent people die in war you naive clod and if you think after 4 tours Chris wasn't afflicted with PTSD you're as insensitive as Ventura.
The UDT’s and SEALs are essentially one and the same. It’s why the UDT is still part of the training acronym BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL). Like it or not, Jesse Ventura is a Navy SEAL. He did the pushups and put up with the cold water, just like the rest of them , Jesse Ventura buds class is class 58 nov 1970.
Can you imagine a man this big and tough being terrified of anyone? We can't even begin to imagine how hard these men are pushed during they're training!!! Ultimate respect for The Unites States Navy Seals
"There are no individuals here" was legitimately ingrained into my head in basic training. Hell, we all bought the same exact toiletries so there'd be zero variance whenever inspected.
@@MarkArness I'm sure you all bought two tooth brushes, two tubes of tooth paste, and two bars of soap. One set for inspection, and one set for use lol. We did the same thing.
Wrong. Ventura sued Kyle. Kyle was murdered prior to the settlement. Ventura had the opportunity to settle for a verdict -- he won the case -- without pursuit of/ collecting monetary "damages." But he didn't. Jesse-the-asshole-Ventura demanded payment in full from Kyle's FAMILY (Kyle's estate was his family's assets). This action by Ventura is absolutely despicable. He got the win from the judge but his fragile ego demanded money. Even if he (Ventura) were a highly decorated CMOH recipient, such reprensible actions as that which he did by choice renders him a scumbag
I kinda sided with the verdict of the jury. Kyle didn't mention Ventura's name in his book, but later came out and said it was Ventura and the story about punching him, which the Jury believed never took place. There were photos taken of Ventura 3 days later show no signs that an altercation took place. After the story broke sales of Kyles book skyrocketed! He clearly profited from this story. On behalf of defaming Ventura. I can perfectly understand why Ventura was pissed about this! Regardless of the fact that Kyle died later does not change the fact that huge profits were made from Kyle making this claim. A claim that appeared to be false. Even though both did claim to be in the bar and there were a few wittinesses on behalf of both of them. Evidence that there was no wounds to Ventura's face kinda points there was no fight. If Kyle did punch Ventura then he was a pussy for picking a fight with Ventura who is kinda crippled up now with his hip and other injuries. If Ventura had been the same age then go ahead and take a swing at the big guy, but if that were the case Kyle would probably gotten smashed! Just saying, I think it was made up.
It was the publisher of the book who had to pay damages. Not Kyle's family, you despicable liar. Chris Kyle had the enormous luck that he got killed before he had to admit, that he had lied about Ventura. Everything was Kyle's fault alone and Ventura didn't do anything but defend himself against a liar, you coward.
I would love to "meet" in person these pricks on here, so bad ass slanderous in their typing, yet absolute real pussies in reality I bet ... I have no opinion on the matter, frankly, what I state is what I have read. No one knows what really happened between Kyle and Ventura, if anything. Only Kyle knew and Ventura knows and no one else. Estates get sued, not book publishers. It was well reported in all of the media at the time that Ventura-the-asshole collected on the estate of Kyle, which after his death was in the hands of his family. Only a mother fucking prick would conduct oneself as such.
Reminded me of when I applied for my first job after separating from the Army. The interviewer asked me what I thought that I could do better than anybody else? "Honestly?", I asked. Yeah, honestly, he said. "I can lay a machine gun better than anybody else", I replied. Not a lot of call for that in the civilian world. I got the job anyway.
I can write my name with a pig. I have to say it garnered me no employment. I liked firing it standing offfhand, like a rifle just to be a smartass. My dream is a belt-fed Stoner.
I don´t like people very much but Jesse Ventura is one of those guys I would love to drink a beer with, not because he was a SEAL/UDT but because he seems like a decent guy who thinks before he speaks and allways has something smart to say. I like him.
I love Jesse... he is as authentic as they come. I had the honor of sharing a few laughs with him on a photo shoot for his Conspiracy Theories show. Also, I would vote him into office, again, in any capacity. The man is actually very likable in person and not the ego-maniac everyone thinks he is. We need more men like him doing good in this country, once again.
The only criticism I've seen thrown his way in regards to his service is that he never actually saw combat but has made obnoxious statements like "if you've never hunted man, you've never really hunted"
He is right. The best advice to anyone going to Basic training or any military training is to blend in. Don't draw attention to yourself and your life will be much easier.
The question was “what seal training ENTAILS” and Ventura’s response was “it’s difficult” and then went on to explain it in detail. What’s weird here??
Jesse Ventura what a truly remarkable character, this is an American man with a good attitude, if only our politicians could not take a leaf, there's honour and respect for human life in its defense and unmatched robustness. The seals are quality men we can all aspire too thru the journey of manhood family and the best a nation can build, you just know your kids are safe, as for the mobile phones and social media we can always live without them, keep the Porsche Jess it's a touch of class. Happy Xmas and God Bless America. Go get em Jessie,
It's funny because when you talk to Team guys, none of them give a shit about BUDS. You don't learn anything in BUDS, it's just simply the test to see whether you want to be there or not and whether you possess the basic aptitudes to be in the Teams. These days unless you've got a couple combat deployments under your belt (some of the guys have 12-14) with some decent accomplishments, other SEALS don't care about what you have to say. That is pretty much true across the board for everyone in the elite units.
@@ffryan 12-14 deployments? In how many years? I know of one Marine Raider who left after 15 years in had 7 deployments. 12-14 would mean you'd served like 30 years.
EverythingViral That’s because Raiders operate on a two year cycle, six months of which is devoted to deployments. Perhaps the navy seals do it differently
“I live by a simple premise today... I don’t want a religious person telling me about government... I don’t want a government person telling me about religion... and I don’t want a draft dodger telling me what’s patriotic” -James George Janos (AKA “Jessie Ventura” speaking in 2019 about donald trump & his enablers)
Roger that, but idk ? How well I'd do cause I stick out like I just got blasted with blue/purple 💰bank bag dye wherever I go it seams lol. Not saying I'm a criminal , but that's how well I blend in, wherever I go.
Glad someone, like Jesse, finally said it. Spec ops is primarily guys w/ a high % of slow twitch muscle fibers, particularly in they're legs. Its not about being the largest, strongest. There's a huge misconception about SEALS, Rangers, etc..
People on this thread arguing like, “He was never in Vietnam.” They say, “he was not a seal because he was in UDT.” Here’s why those comments are ignorant: When Ventura was on active duty (1969-73) he was in UDT. SEALs did not exist. After active duty, he went into the reserves and was assigned to SEAL Team One (1973-75.) So, even if someone wants to disqualify UDT on semantics (an illegitimate and petty argument), Ventura was assigned to a SEAL team named a SEAL time. Next, what is a “Vietnam veteran” according to the military? Answer: someone who served during a specific period for a specified number of days. It can be service in theater or elsewhere in the world. He rates the Navy ‘Vietnam Service Ribbon (VSM) and therefore also rates the title, ‘Vietnam veteran.’ Nobody can take that away. What I found interesting, in researching this, is that few details of Ventura’s service are available. However, he once made a reference to “hunting men.” So, it seems he engaged the enemy somewhere, or at least went out to do so. One last thing: Nobody who never served rates to diminish the career of someone who did serve. Even if they received a BCD, at least they put on the uniform.
Every Navy SEAL I know and have worked with will tell you that he has every right to call him self a former SEAL. Those who say other wise arent SEALs and have no voice in the matter. Great Statement btw!!
I have herd Don Shipley and Marcus Lutrell say that Jesse is a SEAL and thats good enough for me. Your statement however is not entirely accurate. The SEAL Teams first went to Vietnam in 1962 and they were founded not long before so they existed at the same time as the UDT even though the UDT had been around since probably Korea. In World War II they were known as Naval Combat Demolition Units or NCDUs the mission was similar but not the same UDTs differed in that they did take on some Commando type missions on land infiltrating from the water or sea. They were not however the same as SEALS who regularly operate in all enviornments. A guy that Jesse regularly claims as a close friend Dick Marcinko that founded SEAL Team 6 addresses this in his book. Marcinko himself was a UDT at the same time as Ventura but unlike Ventura he went through what was at the time called SEAL Replacement Training and is presumably now called SEAL Qualification Training. Both UDTs and SEALs went through and graduated BUDS but graduating BUDS does NOT make one a SEAL. There are quite a few other things like SQT mentioned above before they pin on a Trident. Now we can assume that Jesse bieng assigned to SEAL Team 2 as a reservist and the fact he did recruiting and is even featured on an early recruiting poster for them he probably went through some early version of this SQT or maybe was gradfathered in somehow but that is where the confusion comes from. Members of the WWII OSS and First Special Service Force and Alamo Scouts to name a few are considered grandfathered in to the modern day Army Special Forces( Green Berets) and the Special Forces Association has gone out of its way to do so.
It was always hard not bringing on attention being 6'5 and 250 in the Army. They would find me and use me as an example no matter where I was. It was then I was jealous of my 5'5 friends that literally blended in. haha
When I was in Navy boot camp at San Diego in 1967 a UDT guy came in looking for volunteers and my buddy said let's try out for it. I said are you insane, do you know how cold that water is? He thanked me later.
rich Chavez John McCain was a fucking traitor to the uniform he wore he ran his fucking mouth to the vietnamese that got several fellow navy pilots killed that were there in the same prison as his sorry ass he is no damn hero either and that's from a real navy man that served this nation honorably get your story straight John McCain's bullshit has been documented and on record.
@@ronaldhill9561 all he did was tell his captors where his military target was. Most POWs did. They couldn't help it because the torture worked to a point.
I remember when this happened. So was John Rambo, Duke, Snake Eyes, Dutch (he was Delta Force and was going to South America and took Jesse Venture with him, along with a gatling gun, for some crazy reason). This really happened. Brings back so many memories, including Cobra Commander. Man, I hated that guy. OK, thanks.
He was UDT when UDT and SEALS had the same basic training but had specialized training in two different fields. They later folded the two into one entity and just called them SEALS, but Ventura never had the specialized combat training of a full-fledged SEAL operator. If you don't believe me ask any SEAL from the Viet Nam era if they would have been comfortable taking a UDT guy into the bush with them and you'll get your answer. Don Shipley is not going to disparage anyone who went through the hellish experience of BUDS and that's understandable, but Ventura was not a SEAL as we understand the meaning of the word today, even though technically he might have been given the title at some point before he was discharged.
@cozzie twothousand, he was a seal in the reserves so your statement false. UDT members are seals. all navy seals consider UDT members seals why are you spreading lies.
Do you genuinely think that every SEAL is combat trained or specialized in war? It's overall known that many SEALS do the same stuff Jessie did back in his day. You're letting movies or other media get you thinking that anyone who joins is some sort of combat superhero. Many run logistics or communication or go around blowing up bridges or buildings. They aren't always in firefights or in the middle of fending off the enemy like in the movie black hawk down. To say Jessie isn't a SEAL, Is like saying that anyone who passed boot camp isn't a serviceman or woman.
@@EE-md2lr Yes, all SEALs are combat trained in small unit actions. They receive the training after BUDS. Just because some receive other specialized training doesn't mean they're sitting in the rear with the gear. They are integrated as part of the team so they will have all those skills self-contained within the unit. The old UDT didn't receive that same level of small unit combat training and they didn't go into the bush with their SEAL counterparts. Ventura became a SEAL as a result of an administrative action, not because he qualified in any of the training modern SEALs undergo.
I graduated from Navy boot camp in Feb 88. I was one of about twenty sailors who took the screen test for Navy SEAL training. I was young and in great shape. I passed the screen test and was offered a spot in the next SEAL class. However, after suffering thru that screen test, it just reinforced my belief that being a Navy SEAL was NOT for me!! MUCH RESPECT for any of the guys who made it thru to earn their trident!!
Jesse Ventura was never a SEAL, he was in the Underwater Demolition Teams. In fairness to Ventura he did the exact same training as SEALs and his UDT was later re-designated as a SEAL Team.
Ventura: titled as a seal, a wrestler, a mayor, and governor. He did it all with honest leadership, sure he served his country, but most of all he didnt do it for america he did it for the people of this, his, our country. Because he believes in freedom and prosperity. He is a dangerous man to those who have an agenda to control and limit our freedoms but to those who are for no limitations he would fight beside with honor, u can title men alot of things but this man is a truely amazing above all hero who has beat all odds through his honesty even when attempts to destroy and deminish his reputation this man proved that honesty is above all and truth always wins i honor u ventura u are my Muhammad Ali my hero 🫵
notice how at the beginning, right up until this interview, and the one before it, he was sitting his body so that his arms were crossed, with his back straight, completely defensive, unreadable, could be on the verge of acting emotionally erratic, but as soon as his parents are brought up, and he talks about his time in the military, and what his father told him, his entire posture and demeanor changes, it's clear he's incredibly emotionally invested in this honestly.
While Jesse (Jim Janos) did graduate BUD/S, and was a frogman, he wasn't technically a SEAL. He was assigned to UDT 12. Back in those days, SEALS and UDT were separate, and had very different assignments. SEALS and UDT didn't combine until 1983, long after Jesse was out.
Why does he rock back and forth and shake his leg? Im curious because i do the exact same things but consider myself normal... so would love to hear about it
@@Thunderchild-gz4gc he has never, ever said he was in combat, in fact, you can even Google that statement and a dozen articles come up where he says clear as day he never saw combat. So stop lying to fit your narrative.
Not true. UDT got disbanded and anyone in the UDT at that time got rolled into the Seals. But before then after BUDS you had to attend another 26 weeks to be considered a Seal.
He graduated BUD/S, but he didn't do the other training. He was never assigned to a SEAL team and never in combat. He spent the Vietnam War serving in the Phillipines and South Korea. If SEALS want to consider anyone who passed BUD/S to be a SEAL, that is their choice and their problem.
So how do you explain US Navy Divers that are UDT to this day! All UDT is, is just a ratting. Underwater Demolition Technician! Its just a rating you have to have to be a Seal.
Jesse Ventura was really a seal. My grandfather was a seal and actually served with Jesse. He was really a seal unlike Manny Fernandez, who was a midcard wrestler at best in his prime. The thing Fernandez is best at is lying. Jesse isn't a liar and I was never a fan of Jesse as a wrestler but I respect the hell out of the man
He never saw combat according to sources. Also, his dad couldn't have been at Anzio or Berlin. No unit that landed at Normandy had served in combat before except the 1st ID and the 2nd Armored and they weren't at Anzio. Only Russian troops fought in Berlin
there were American soldiers at berlin but only to observe and they saw the savage shit the Russians soldiers did to the women. this is a fact, I had an older friend who was there and told me a lot of what he saw.
At that time the training was the same for both , he Said in.a interview the ones in charge went down the line and labeled ever one seal or udt , just alternated from man to man , people say what they want but that fucker went through the hardest military training and went to probably one of the worst wars ever , doing stuff that know one had ever done , I salute you Jesse HOO-YAH
