I went to high school with her and she was just as lovely then as she is now. I remember her prancing down the halls singing one of the songs from a play she was working on. Her hair was long and curly and she was a knock out. It’s so great to see her success now.
@@Iloveflower2024 that’s cool! Sacramento I take it? I had creative writing with Jessica and had a crush on her too. But I was super intimidated by her. She seemed like such a free spirit. As if high school was just a phase and not her entire existence like it was for everyone else 😉.
@@michaelsnydermusic Yes, good old Sacramento! Some of my best summers were spent with Jessica (and the other kids, too.) We spent the entire summer preparing for a show. It was like theater summer camp. I lost track of her about high school age. Maybe she was more involved in school (sounds like it.) It’s so funny when I hear “celebrity” because to me she’ll always be red haired Jessica from Sacramento. 🤷🏼♀️😂 Nice to meet you as well.
@@michaelsnydermusic I heard she had an extremely hot crush on you Michael, you should bring her "out for drinks" She's a seemingly rare bird now-a-days with as much integrity which perfectly matches her knockout beauty
@@johnserrano9689 I have no idea how you would know that. I doubt she’d even remember me as I wouldn’t have even considered her an acquaintance back then. Plus she’s happily married.
I just saw this movie "'eyes of tammy faye" and what a stunning performance by jessica, she carried the whole movie with her flawless acting..her acting, singing and whole performance is so good in this movie that i dont have words to describe it..she deserves an oscar for this role
I adore Jessica Chastain. She is such a skilled and talented actor. I will watch anything she's in because she clearly is very selective. One of my favorites was Miss Sloane, an excellent character study.
She did an action spy flick called Ava that really wasted her talents in my opinion. The editing was atrocious and directing not much better. I felt really bad for her as no one tries to make a bad movie…well almost no one . Her acting was on point though.
she stood in churches and told lies and filth and radical consequences fostered hate against other religions. the idea that some people believe she wasn't a criminal as bad as her husband is hysterical. everybody knew she was in bed with him, that's why she became a pariah and you lifting her to being a good person makes you an idiot lady.
I think Tammy Faye would've LOVED Jessica. I think she would've been arm in arm with Jessica at the premiere of the film. Tammy was always such a sweetheart and loved everybody. She be so proud.
My crush for JC is as large as the universe itself! She is a talented, intelligent and beautiful woman, and always leaves me yearning for more in all of her movies.
What a fantastic performance! Give her the Oscar! I loved the movie and walked away from it feeling like Tammy Faye’s legacy was effectively restored/corrected. Bravo to Jessica Chastain!
I'm old enough to remember Jim and Tammy Faye and the PTL Club. Jim was, and is, a money grubbing POS. But Tammy Faye always came across as a really compassionate and loving person. Underneath all that makeup was a truly wonderful lady who genuinely cared about other people, ALL people, and I'm deeply saddened by her suffering toward the end of her life. She deserved so much better.
@@recole374 Every time I saw her on TV, I was appalled at how she embraced the con game. Wanted to like her, but not possible. Not a coincidence that her second husband ended up in jail too for con action.
Seriously?! She was Jim's co-conspirator for twenty years. She lived a lavish lifestyle off the proceeds of their mutual grifting and fraud. She may not have been convicted alongside him, but she was far from innocent.
@@recole374 it's not like she got to keep any of the money that was stolen by Jim. I truly believe she did not know anything and you're saying the police in both cases were negligent, Tammy faye didn't steal anyone's money, or she would've had a charge. if you know anything ab this kind of crime, usually they would require her to tell them all she knows and testify against her husband (who got 40 years) she wasn't. She lost everything and still never said an unkind word ab anyone
I just really love and admire her. Being true to herself, loving, caring, nonjudgemental, intelligent, super talented and hardworking, healthy, fierce, open hearted and more…
She said it took 10 years for this to finally get made, and I am glad it took that long because the final product is worth it. I think audiences have evolved since 2011 and it is a better time for this type of story.
@@flipwright1138 she has her style. Maybe you feel Tammy looks like a freak but she wasn't convicted for any crime. Attraction to someone else outside your toxic marriage is not considered a crime !!
@@khongmaithikhog5624 You are the only one commenting on her looks. However the Bible clearly states in Hebrews 13:4:Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.
@@flipwright1138 This is america, everyone is greedy. Doesn't matter if your Christian, Muslim, atheist. Humans are humans. So don't go pointing fingers cause you know your a damn hypocrite if you do.
@@anthonygordon9483 I'll definitely call out scam artists who take advantage of the emotionally vulnerable. Using peoples religious beliefs to benefit themselves financially is especially disgusting.
Im from the fort mill SC area. I met Tami Faye when I was a little kid. She was so kind. You would see her out and about and she would just be smiling even though she was going through so much.
Tammy Faye was a beautiful human being. She had so much love in her. And she NEVER put anyone down. Jim Baker is a festering boil that needs to be lanced.
@@Tracymmo no...her husband and the producers did. Tammy was kept in the dark, because Jim knew she wouldn't approve. She knew nothing about his infidelity either. Get your facts straight.
OMG I just watched the real Tammy interview, and oh boy! she truly did care about the gay community or everyone who was suffering and denied of love and anything else, she was clearly such a sweet, compassionate, positive and emotional angel of a person, she even said that one night her husband watched a program with Tammy about this young man who had AIDS and had to go tell him to his parents and they wouldn't even touch him, so they asked the guy what was the worst thing about having AIDS and he said ¨not be able to be hugged by anyone again¨ and Tammy started crying over it and really said to him that she would have loved to be interviewing him in person and she said to him, that in that studio there were a lot of loving christians praying and caring for you. I'm crying, we need more people like her now more than ever I wish I had her faith, that was truly her engine, she was just trying to express love and kindness and I think we should as well no matter what religion or beliefs must never lose empathy for others and may we never forget to extend a hand to someone in need. RIP TAMMY FAYE
Agree! I always liked her even though I do not like Televangelism. Now I know why. And somehow, I just knew she was a lovely person before her story was told.
I couldn’t agree more. I watched the movie and I got emotional. She was kind and genuine. She had a heart for God and a heart for people. I went to RU-vid to listen to her song “Don’t You Dare Give Up” Beautiful song with such an inspirational message!
Jessica did such a beautiful job- it felt very real and never felt like a joke. it felt like a letter written in sincerity from the production to tammy faye and all that loved her, family, friends & associates- it almost felt like a reminder of how she was taken for granted. ❤️i was a little girl when all the scandals happened but i just remembered thinking it seemed almost unbelievable everytime she interacted with the press because she was so sweet and loving. yes, she was larger than life but that was all she was ever really guilty of. i was lucky enough to see her on the surreal life. she really inspired the cast, and kind of did her own thing it was cute ❤️ RIP Tammy Faye !
I’m a fan! I see the light of God in her in this interview. She’s visibly nervous, yet graceful… must be an adjustment to interview for a big audience for most entertainers post pandemic.
I love how she did Tammy!!!! I actually was lucky enough (after all the horrible backlash) to meet and have lunch with her she loved my dad… she was the REAL DEAL and a real Christian!!!! And everything that Jesus taught!! Jessica did a fabulous job and Tammy would be so proud!!!!! Thank you Jessica for making this movie to tell about all the love and compassion she genuinely brought to the world!!!! I know she would be proud!!!!!
Yes, indeed. She's done a lot of Oscar-worthy performances in Take Shelter, Zero Dark Thirty, The Help, Miss Sloane, and Molly's Game. She's an actress who should have as many Oscars as Amy Adams or Glenn Close.
@@delrey874 totally adore Glenn to bits but I watched Jessica's The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby last week and concluded it was gently devastating, a brilliant performance overall :)
To date, her FAVORITE performances of mine are "The Help" & "The Zookeeper's Wife" (which she SHOULD have gotten the Oscar for) but I have yet to see her as Tammy Faye. She has that "extra something" that not every actor is gifted with, and it's the same ability Streep has I think -- she "shifts" her soul with each performance that she gives.
I’ve been so stoked to see this movie so to hear that she’s been behind this and trying to get it off the ground for about 10 years really struck me! What a gal 😌
Jim and Tammy Faye lived in the California desert when my parents and I were there in the late 80s/early 90s. Tammy would shop at the Malls and was pretty much normal, if over the top with the makeup. There was even a t-shirt with her signature make-up smeared on it that said, "I ran into Tammy Faye at the Mall." My Dad, had quite the interesting interaction with Jim, who tried to buy a bunch of expensive luggage at my Father's luggage store. Dad had to call American Express to approve the purchase. They made my Dad take the credit card and cut it up in front of him. Jim laughed and said, "Enjoy the $100 AmEx will send you for doing that," and walked out. Dad Xeroxed the card, cut in half, and framed it, then sent it back to AmEx. And took our family out to dinner with the $100!
WHAT a HUMAN!!!! Smart! Talented! Driven to use her forum for GOOD❣️❣️❣️ And, on top of All That, she has found and revealed the golden heart behind the easy target of Tammy Faye.
I’ve always loved Jessica Chastain and this movie was so good, but Jessica’s performance absolutely knocked it out of the park! I remember her saying in another interview that she never thought she had a great singing voice and was really shy when she first started filming Tammy Faye. Hard to believe since she’s so talented with acting and singing!
What a talented artist she is along with being such a wonderful person, who has simply done it all!The more I'm getting to know her,the more I'm falling in love with Jessica Chastain....Please win the OSCAR now,it's hightime!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤❤❤❤
Thank you. Reality check here. There's no such thing as poor innocent Tammy Faye Bakker. I guess you can forget it if you weren't there. She wasn't painted in a bad light. She painted every stroke of that brush herself. The mascara tears were all part of the show.
She really doesn't miss. She doesn't have a bad role, Jessica is a very talented actress that always pushed her acting limits with every role she takes!
I watched the show almost every day for a few years...That is just how Tammy acted and looked. But she also saved a lot of young kids ' lives. Stopped the suicides...WE dont have to condone anyone's lifestyle, we just have to love everyone and tell them God loves them.
I just want to say how amazing it is of Jessica Chastain to speak so openly about this. You can tell that she's very nervous about it and that maybe the audience doesn't know how to react since so many people don't even know exactly how bad the AIDS crisis was or the very specific and despicable ways that conservative evangelicals have demonized the queer community (in the past and still to this day). Especially to set the record straight about a woman who, as she said, was easy fodder for comedy...this is just such a beautiful interview and I can't wait to see the movie!
