As a single mother in MN, I cannot express how much I appreciate the school lunches. I get so upset when people say ‘there was already free lunches, this only helped the Rich’. This is completely false. I chose the wrong field, I went into nursing and an RN salary isn’t…great. By choosing to help others, I really didn’t help myself. That said, I make $200 too much each year to qualify for even REDUCED lunches. Those lunches came with a bill of $170/mth (just lunch - no bkfst). I am, what is considered, the working poor. That $170 is a game changer for people like me.
This is the hole most working people fall into. Unable to qualify for free programs that your tax dollars pay for - it’s an attack on middle and working class. Walz was the best person for the role.
I couldn’t agree with you more. MN widowed mom of three here, and the free breakfast and lunch for my kids at school really does make a difference as we didn’t qualify for free or reduced lunch under the previous state law. Gov. Walz is a hero in our household.

Small business owner here who received American Rescue Plan Act funding. Harris kept that legislation alive in the Senate with her tie breaking vote in 2021. That funding was transformational for moving my grocery business from mobile to a brick and mortar store in a Black neighborhood on Chicago's Westside.
Charlamagne doesn’t have the political mind that he thinks he does. A Harris-Shapiro ticket never made sense, especially not in these polarizing times. They’re too similar. That ticket would have given off a liberal elite vibe that swing voters don’t like. Walz uses plain language and has a very down to earth vibe. He’s a conduit for appealing to a swing voter in a Michigan or Arizona.

Walz was selected for one reason. He knows HOW to be a VP. The VP has to show loyalty and partnership. It's not equivalent to being the President, and it shouldn't be. Shapiro wants to be an equal, and that is NOT the job.

Multiple clips of him from yesterday's rally are going viral cos he just comes off as genuine guy. I'm not sure Shapiro would've had the same effect with his Obama impersonation. And Shapiro calling the protesters on College campuses Nazis is a lot different than how Walz addressed the issue. Shapiro was definitely gonna kill the vibe and momentum that Kamala has been on.

Facts. Shapiro also wrote a paper in college that said that Palestinians are “too battle-minded to be able to establish a peaceful homeland of their own.” Amongst other racist things. Now one can say he was in college and changed, but I too wrote things in college that I changed my mind on, but it was not rooted in racism and dehumanizing a whole group of people. There were a multitude of reasons as why Shapiro wouldn't have been a good pick besides his Israel stance (i.e. none of the other candidates compared Pro-Palestine protestors to the KKK.) There's sexual harassment claims against someone who worked in his office and how he allegedly paid the woman off and didn't the staff member didn't resign until 6 months later. He allegedly covered up a woman who was brutally murdered and it was ruled as a suicide and the person who was involved was allegedly a donor of his. His ambitions are way too strong to be okay with being the second person on the ticket. He definitely would've overshadowed VP Harris. I think there are significant pros to him as well, but he's only in his first year as a governor whereas the other gubernatorial candidates are in their second term. I could definitely see him running for president one day just like Newsom, but now wasn't his time.

Tim Walz is highly regarded by former students and teachers, as well as constituents. I haven't seen young voters this engaged and excited since Bernie Sanders ran for President in 2016.
