This is such a special moment and speaks volumes to Jessie's character. Most singers only know how to stand in the spotlight w/so many surrounding them, supporting them, backing them up. But, a very rare star knows how to put the light on others so they can shine, too. Backup singers have some of the most talented voices, but they often get drowned out by the sound of a main singer and booming instrumentation. It's wonderful to see the beauty of a backup singer's artistry have the glorified limelight for a change. So many of them deserve this moment, and Jessie has my heart for giving others a chance to be noticed for beautiful talents that often go unnoticed.
Always respect the backup singers/dancers. I don’t know how the word “backup” got a negative connotation that meant they weren’t good enough for the spotlight. They are extremely talented and skilled. Backup singers/dancers exist to elevate a performance. Performance is more than just the main character. It’s about all of the pieces working together to create something wonderful. They’re part of the art. All of the actors on Broadway highly respect the swings because they know how much hard work they put in. They can know up to 10 roles and could be thrown in any of those just hours before the show. They’re lucky if they even get to rehearse a full run-through with the cast the day of. There are so many talented people that go unnoticed.
All artists should be like this! There is so much hidden talent that never get the opportunity. And no artist needs to be scared of competition because new talents make the music industry more exciting and diverse. I stopped listening to music years ago because they appear to me all the same these days, so I welcome this.
Agree 100%! The music world is way more interesting when there are countless singers, bands and artists of different genres and styles getting the opportunity to be heard and be embraced! Now it seems like we get a handful of mainstream artists, mostly soloists, and the rest we have to search for on our own. And if we find ones we do like, often they hardly get recognition from the public.
Yup. The problem is not entirely in the music environment, but in the industry in itself and in people not having enough money to be support and be nourished by music and the good things liffe offers us.

No one has the time to follow every single artist that's out there, so if people start to care about other artists more than you, you may become irrelevant.
I agree with you. There is plenty of space in the entertainment industry. People who try to prevent others to occupy those spaces are just insecure because they know their talent is limited.
Jessie J does this at most of her gigs! She gives her backing vocalists a moment to shine, and makes sure she introduces all of her band to the audience. She names them one by one and gives them a few bars to freestyle, truly a queen for letting other talent shine
I wish Jessie J had the recognition she deserved, she should have easily have been the most recognised vocalist of our generation and she deserved so so much more, I put it down to her label. I remember the 2010’s when this woman just blew up with price tag and do it like a dude, some of the most interesting times music wise and nothing has compared since.
So around 2013, Jessie J was performing in Dubai and our school had won a visit from her. When she came by, one of my schoolmates performed a song she had written herself, and Jessie was so encouraging she actually invited my schoolmate to open her show for when she performed. I don't listen to a lot of Jessie J songs but I will always appreciate how she pulls other artists and singers up and gives them their chance to shine. My schoolmate's name is Esther Eden and now she has her own career in music which is pretty cool!
She is one of the most humble stars out there, wo sad she is not as famous as whe deserves to be. Maybe it because she doesn't cause enough controversy for the media to talk about...
I met her once. And let me tell you she has not changed. She was kind and incredible back then. She’s kind and incredible now. I was really fortunate to have up to 5 minutes of conversation with her before I had to get back to doing what I was doing. She’s an absolutely lovely person.
This whole concert is on RU-vid, and it looks so fun. She gives mad love to her band, her singers, and her audience! She is great at making connections, and she is an amazing singer. Her confidence is a talent in itself, she's one of a kind.
This is why Jessie J is so talented, because she genuinely appreciates talent. You get what you give. Praise others and you will be praised. Put others down and you will be put down.

I have sooo much respect for backup singers. Their parts are way harder than the leads. 100%, every single day. You try singing harmonies, in tune, with an out of breath, flat, singer/dancer who is losing energy fast. Shoutout to Niky and Donna ;)

I mean as she should...Jessie J is seriously talented, beautiful voice, and it’s God given...but she is and her music is an embodiment of the soul music of black people, black culture. It’s the heritage of African Americans (even if these women are black brits), so it’s only proper to give these black women a chance to shine. And ya know what, that makes her even more dope 👌🏽✨✨✨ Side note: Jessie’s hair and fit are fire 🔥
imagine buying a ticket to see your favorite singer, driving multiple hours, getting a hotel the night before and when you get there they let someone karaoke their songs while they watch.
She has a big heart and is respectful. Unlike some other singers who are petty, rude, mean and disrespectful. I’m not gonna name names. I’ll leave that part out. Jessi is awesome!
I love it when the supporting characters get their time to shine after main character steps aside and introduces them. On a serious note they are GORGEOUS! shout out to the amazing musicians on stage as well. Those drums! that bass! The guitarist(s)! The audio engineers! The stage hands! The mixer! The producers! The entire label! The venue!
A lesser person would be jealous the attention to them got fragmented. A bigger person like her knew joy comes from sharing what you have rather than hoarding.
I love this. Backup singers and instrumentalists for big pop artists are more often extremely educated and precise. It’s a good reminder to people that a great backing band is as important as it is. ~ a drummer

Backup singers are so incredibly talented and I loved getting to hear them in this video because wow, I never would have heard their amazing voices otherwise and they deserve some attention
