The engineer and Ariana work well together. He rolls fast and she hears well and vocal matches fast. Her ideas to stack and arrange her vocal on the spot is good. It’s not messy and it’s like a pad that gets bigger and bigger. Not every singer has this speed.
I am sure he does a good job, but you do realise every single time they did a retake or the engineer did a playback the video was edited right? So we have no idea how much time actually passed between her request and the reaction of the engineer.
@@Djdjipe many celebrities think that their above any normal people and act like they don’t owe them them any respect it’s amazing that Ariana does not have to use/say any manners to anyone because it’s basically her work and they just work there, and did u not learn to respect the little things in life it can make someone’s day yk
@@MK-yr6tv But those people are rarely seen. When there is a camera in front of them they put on an act to reflect what the audiences and fans want to see. There are exceptions when they slip up and get exposed. In other words, we don't really know if the celebrities we look up to are who we expect them to be.
I love how she says please and thank you every time. The mutual respect and chemistry between her and the engineers is amazing. The efficiency of communication and them being able to build insane vocal layering in a matter of minutes is beyond impressive. Pure art.
The engineers and Ari are so fucking talented, they're on the same page and that's necessary when trying to work together and on time of schedule; she knows what she wants and she knows where to put it, they know what she wants and they keep track of which areas she wants to integrate more shit into. Applause to the whole team for staying connected
Ariana inspires me so much and I did a cover of her song "Positions" Hope you will watch it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--S2Lu3dm-40.html
This definitely shows how talented she is but I couldn’t help but laugh at 1:36 when she was like “I’d love to get another note on the... ‘yuuuh’. I’m gonna add a ‘yuh’” 😂😂
wow it's a shame so many people bash mainstream pop music because it's "void and lazy", just because a singer is pop and ultra famous doesn't mean they don't work hard and care for their art
Yes! So much yes! Just as much work goes into pop music. It just stands for popular. There have been popular rock songs, popular metal, popular EDM. I'm tired of the stigma!
tbh i'm not the biggest fan of her and her music, but watching this is a huge eye opener! i didn't know she played such a huge part in making her music. i kind of just assumed she just write the lyrics at most. but this is amazing to watch and i definitely respect her for her creative talent, i would never be able to do this.
Damn, she's a freaking genius. I think we often disregard how much craft and talent are put in the making of songs, and often underestimate the vocalist's imput in the composition just hearing the finished product.
@@amartyaprakash897 she’s co-written every song on her 3 most recent albums. she also has written some songs by herself, the other people credited are producers
It would be very strange if she was. She's a household name and a superstar with top-charting singles lol. Those men behind the boards can't tell her anything.
She’s super fucking meticulous and I respect her so much for it. I had no idea that this kind of thing could be so…… intentional, and that being A GOOD thing. This is just pure art.
@@dylanemmanuel8915 A singer is a musician, who uses their voice as an instrument. Not the same as a songwriter, still valid. Why is everyone so hung up about writing? She's still very clearly creating here.
The fact she says *"sorry" "please" "THANK YOU"* Shows the respect she has for them. 💕 People be calling for 20 things and never once say thank you or please.
@@chanimalki9567 lol you should do some some research into how songs are produced today, still a great singer though she obviously knows what she's doing
I love how much control she has in her studio sessions, she just knows exactly what she wants and what to do and the producers just record - such a boss
IMO this is why some performers deserve to be called ‘artists’, and you can find them in any genre; performers that know their voice/instrument so well that they can make it sound like they’re painting in your ears. I’m not even the biggest Ariana fan, but massive respect to her for being a real artist at a time when it’s so easy to fake things to produce more quickly.
She's so cute. she keeps saying sorry when she feels like she interrupted the producers and then she like "one more please " with that cute voice of hers. omg shes adorable
This is insane. I’m not sure what I expected the song process to be but I didn’t expect it to be fully up to the singer, she has such talent and vision for the song it’s great
Holy crap she has such control. Not only just with her voice but her talent! I’m sooo happy she’s not being led, but instead being the leader of all her work. She is such a talent.
That’s not a producer that’s a engineer I believe. Engineers form the songs and mix the vocals the right way. But producers are also capable of doing that.
No it’s actually just the engineer. Ariana was her own vocal producer. She was the one being creative and telling the engineer what to do. If the engineer was producing he would’ve been telling her how to sing and where to double.
not people saying she's God for knowing how to stack vocals😭 obviously she has really honed her skills, has a good ear for pitch, has a great sense of rhythm, and comes up with interesting melodic and harmonic ideas. But I promise you, harmonising is something anyone could learn to do. I'm not saying it's easy or unimpressive, but it kinda undermines the hard work she's put in to be able to do this, and underestimates what you could be capable of.
when she went “i have an idea” & added that beautiful “down forrrr meeee” melody.......i seriously can’t believe someone can even have such a GIFT! she’s HEARING herself. adding harmonies the FIRST try, & repeating it.....human being? nah, bitch that’s an ariana grande.🥺🔥🔥🖤
I’m in love with how professional she is with the engineer. So communicative. And she gets everything down on the first take. She looks like such a pleasure to work with.
@@sweetener1109 - I don't think it's hate at all. It often takes many many takes, and that's simply factual. It's easy to think it looks like she did everything in one take, because it's not as glamorous or interesting to watch an artist continuously flub notes as they try to get a flawless run, y'know? When I read Derjanel's comment, the "hateful" response is exactly what entered my mind.
@@sweetener1109 ye chill it’s not hate ariana’s lit but like they’re just saying that the takes she didn’t like are probably cut out to save time in this video
This video shows how she actually works hard and some people just don't realise this and hate the song without even knowing how hard the artist has worked on it so appreciate it and don't spread hate :)
@@whatthehellisagrape4496 ariana is a boss woman she works so hard for her fans and the ppl who loves her. She's releasing music for herself not for the sake of being rich and famous and she don't care about charts and streams
@@rlx._n1880 I know that's why I love ari. But all singers put work into music music is hard to make trust me I know I make music and I don't do it for money.
the reason the whole thing is so seamless, as in she says something and the engineer immediately gets it and tommy isn’t giving her ideas and just letting her do her thing, is bc she usually works w a core group of ppl who understand her as an artist and person (tommy brown her best friend and producer is the one that appears towards the end of the video staring at the screen). she also is obviously very gifted but it helps that she “works” w her best friends
I cant believe how fast that guy just processes what she puts together instantly and they keep rolling through like an assembly line with such creative force. This is AMAZING.
Ugh, she's so sonically brilliant!! It's really cool to see how she works in the studio when producing music. Just an artist focusing on her craft, and we love to see it.
@@MariahIsolated takes about as much time and effort as any other project you want done well, seriously. Rocket science is hard, or engineering, or creating technology.
all those times she said “i’m so annoying because i just want to add hundreds of harmony layers”..... the way this was maybe 20 layers all together 😭 i get her now
I like how the producer is so cooperative and does everything she's asks for. Both of them are so professional, I've never seen how music is produced so this was really interesting.
Well a lot of lesser vocalists like to give people a false idea of what recording is. They post videos of them in front of a mic pretending to sing live when they are lip syncing an already mastered track with tons of effects on it. Recording is a tedious process with tons of trial and error. I’m glad she’s posting this because it’s amazing. Actual live vocals.
her and tommy brown (the producer we see) are really great friends, and i think their chill yet professional vibe is very present and makes her work that much more personal bc she makes it with her friends :)
can we appreciate the work of the producers? this is so repetitive and tiring but it looks amazing, obviously Ariana's talent helps, but the producers' work is insane. it's a dream for me, to be able to produce...
Hey, I’m thinking of booking studio time one day. As an audio engineer, what is the best attributes someone can have in the studio and what do you look for in a person recording wise that’ll help improve the song you’re making?
I honestly didn’t even realise how much time she would spend on one freakin sliver of the song. Like, we listen and we don’t really even notice or hear so many of these layers but they’re there and she was meticulous about them!
What's impressive to me is how quickly she did it actually, you gotta be so skilled to actually get everything right on the first try like wowoww what??
That's one of the reasons why I don't mind to spend money in a good pair of earphone and listen the song over and over again... You can pay attention to all the details and, literally, fall in love with the song! Ari is such an angel btw
Not saying this means I know what I’m talking about, but I have sat in on a few studio sessions with artists, and what I’ve seen is that the engineer tends to be the one to offer vocal suggestions and techniques and ideas. It seems like she’s just thinking about all this stuff on her own and tracking it out flawlessly. That just shows she knows her voice so well and actually has her one vision for the song. Artists these days don’t fulfill enough space, and often times the engineer has to turn it into something great. She seems to run these studio sessions
@@xcraftingswaggerdabber123x7 what's in this album is way beyond "basic" music theory. Conceptually, it's closer to Jacob Collier's work than whatever it is you may be imagining as your point of comparison.
Frankly, I don't think she should. I'd love one but if people saw how much help she needs to make a song (Producers, writers, directors, engineers etc.), they would think that she can't do anything on her own. They don't know how much help an artist needs to make a song that people would love. They'd tell her that she's helpless on her own.
@@casxie I don't think @Lorijane Sacote is a hater. that is actually something people don't realise is that there are teams behind songs and can be assumed that if she "needs" them then she isn't talented. its kinda like back when people were saying songs that Taylor had done with other people in collaboration didn't actually have anything she did and the other songs that were only hers the company paid someone else to write them and had a contract to place Taylor's name instead.
Period I have seen many artists in the studio and not all of them now what to do some of them get really stuck and sometimes frustrated and then a vocal arranger comes in and some producers chime in and basically guide the artist on what to do. Ariana on the other hand is one of those artist that guide the producers and basically does their job for them which a lot of producers actually like and find helpful.
i love how the harmonies is not just the producers copy-pasting then transposing + editing the already done vocals, but instead Ariana just keeps adding more vocal layers with how they play out in her head. And how she does those falsettos so clean isn't easy. She's one of the artists that really deserves the spotlight she has.
