Jessye Norman walked through the racism, the ignorance, the nonsense of this world, with her head held high and a voice that came from the angels. She was not a great Black human being, she was a great example of the best within us, and for those who have stupid things to say about her, how sad how very sad that you can't even see the divine within us.
Mugsy Peabody classy educated and talented woman she was. She was a great example. Color has no place and in Europe she was adored. Sadly Some places in America can’t see beyond the color. Too bad for them. They are the ignorant ones so as this song says, Walk on.
Jessye Norman sings the American Dream. Against all odds, we strive for what has never been accomplished in the history of mankind. And no, Jessye Norman was revered all over the world because she was the finest female singer in the world. She was NOT a "victim" of systemic racism, but an angel singing God's purest Love.
... APENAS UMA MINORIA ABSOLUTA , DA HUMANIDADE , CONSEGUEM SE ENTREGAR , AO AMOR , ... ASSIM ... , CM A ESTRELA FULGURANTE , JESSE NORMAN , ... ETERNAMENTE !!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Reunited with all the world's best , she's joining Aretha Franklin, Billie Holliday, Whitney , Freddie Mercury, more names I just can't name one by one,......RIP !
Junior, oh no, the people you named are performers/singers/entertainers definitely not in the realm of Jessie Norman. Few will ever master or equal her accomplishments.
Reunited where and how? They’re ALL dead, in their graves, awaiting the second coming of Christ. If they and we are faithful and make it to heaven then perhaps we may see them again someday.
How fortunate we were to be blessed by the sharing of jesseye’ unlimited powers of singing. She was so intelligent, and at ease I’m the courts of foreign world leaders as well as entertaining with her own family when she had a break ! Everyone was special to Ms.Norman She was deeply envolved In the establishment of schools teaching youngsters fine arts envlved in estamlishinh afret - schoolout great example of
I would like to know who the 22 people are, who have no taste, who gave this thumbs down! I hope they are able to achieve a tiny portion of the greatness she has. What a voice- and what a particularly moving and enchanting arrangement of one of my favorites!
A big lady, in every way. Her personality shines through every performance, and she never fails to move me. Whatever she sings, she sings from her heart, and my God what a big heart it was.
Dear Jessie, though you have now joined the choir of angels, your angelic voice still blesses us in ways we don’t realize because you lived your life as a shining example of how to face obstacles and rise above them to become a role model, not just as a singer, but as a singular human being who left this world a better place than she found it. Godspeed dear Jessye, and I pray to see you and hear your beautiful and magnificent voice again! Sing on, Jessye, sing with the heavenly hosts! God bless you!
Absolutely bawling my eyes out in quarantine in 2020. As many tears as I'm crying, this angel's voice brings me comfort during these hard times. I'm glad you are watching over us, Ms. Norman.
Oh ! Why am I weeping ? Jessye Noorman's bravery and her ability to sing her heart out to the audience just gives me goosebumps .. stunning beautiful lady .
She was my crutch to walk me thru the swamp when in deepest dispair. Her voice, her strength helped me to go on and overcome. She was an embodiment of divine for me. RIP dear Jessye, you were from another world.
I never understood racists! For me, this is an impossible phenomenon among people! From the first time I heard Jessie Norman, she became my favorite singer along with Montserrat Caballe, Maria Callas, Joan Sutherland, Renata Tibaldi and other singers of the world! I am white, European. But from childhood I loved and still love Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Aretta Franklin, Billy Holliday, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder ... I have many recordings of these great singers and listen to them with great pleasure along with the singer Edith Piaf, Whitney Houston , Michael Jackson… I love watching movies with comedian Whoopi Goldberg! It all depends on the upbringing of the person. I was always depressed when I heard Nazi cries from people or words addressed to people of a different nationality, a different skin color! This should not be!!! All people are equal! no one can choose their parents, the country in which to be born, skin color, nationality! We are all human. And we all consider ourselves superior in development to the animal world. But, looking at how we treat each other among people, we can say that we are lower than the representatives of the animal world! It's time to be HUMAN!!!
If you cannot see the artistry at this age...the off notes was done purposely...Just shows how in touch she was with her instrument she was...amazing!RIP Queen!!
A National and International treasure we can only be thankful for having known her. Her talent, beauty and personality she was "A woman for all seasons" and will be remembered as such. Who she is and what she did she did not do it just the young boys and girls in Augusta Ga but she elevated each one of us by her personality and her voice, by het talent and her genius.
It brought me to tears. Her loss and her magnificent incomparable voice. To me, she was the voice of the 20th Century. I was in the Philharmonia Chorus when she sang the role of Jocasta in Stravinsky's, Aedipus Rex with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Seji Ozawa. I have never heard a voice like it. I met her after the performance and her charisma was remarkable as well. She was very gracious. I will never forget that evening. RIP Jessye.
One of the greatest singers of the century has to put up with people who are worried about her hair and clothes. how absolutely pathetic.! This is about music. Jessye you are a great "kick ass" singer and the world should be grateful ! Don't worry about the "arm-chair experts" !!
Brian, I couldn't agree with you more on this. The gown here is identical, if not the same, as she wore for the portrait on her album "Spirituals"... her hairstyle is different. The simplicity of the offerings can be so off putting...
Ab Fab- why not just tax the stupid people- the stupidity tax! Start around 2 minutes--ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-os-CL1WylyU.html
A great gift to humanity. First heard this song as a teenager. It never ceases to bring tears to my heart. Jessye Norman raises it several levels. Thank you and may God's Angels hear your voice. 🌹🌹💖💖
She is so magnificent. She's one of the greatest singers in the world. May God flourish Ms J. Norman with abundance blessings. I love, love, love, love her performances.
What a powerful and magnificent voice from a very beautiful Lady. I just listened to her sing "You'll never walk alone" (from 2002). I am sad to learn of her passing. I think she is singing in Heaven and the Angels are rejoicing. Rest in Peace Jessye Norman.
I never compare spectacular talent, but you might like to check out Claramae Turner for another outstanding presentation. Both women take your breath away.
Madame, you have been a shining star in my life, bringing joy and emotion with your wonderful voice. I am eternally grateful to you for your magnificent talent and your kind heart. RIP Great Lady, thank you.
She will be missed. I was a young opera singer and musical theater actor when I had the opportunity to hear one of her recitals. So versatile, her voice was angelic and powerful. She is a symbol of strength for all people. She conquered not only the glass ceiling but the racial fortress as well. She is forever an icon.
What an incredible voice. I had the privilege of seeing her Sieglinde at the Met about 30 years ago. It was wonderful, but it is her Four Last Songs that I play over and over.
Great Goddess Almighty what a beautiful voice, that just brings you to tears, leaves you spellbound in awe. RIP Beautiful Nubian Goddess with the voice of an angel.
I have head and watched this amazing video 3 times. It brings me tears. Such a great artist Such an interpreter. You feel the emotions while you glory in the sound and the musicianship. BRAVA How blessed we have been to have experienced the art of this great singer.
Jessie has a voice and the ability to deliver that voice in a way that is second to no other. One could apply every superlative in the book to her, and still be stuck for words,!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I don't have many regrets, but I do wish I could have seen her live. I feel like a fraud, but her voice has provided SO much joy, and I can't quite articulate why. One of a kind
