Great reaction, Harri! The world was changing rapidly around the time this song came out. I believe it was inspired by the sudden dissolution of the Soviet Union, and perhaps also the Berlin Wall coming down a couple years prior.

Exactly, Rob, and Harri, this is actually the song I remember best from this time. Love and loved the hope, the naive optimism. I say naive because as the Soviet Union dissolved, instead of stepping up to help, lend credence to the much ballyhooed "moral superiority" of the west, they trumpeted about the triumph of capitalism and left the former Soviet bloc to fall into anarchy, cartel-like jockeying for position and the rise of the Russian Mafia and the oligarchy. 🙄 😒 😑 😐 😤

I love how you dressed for this song accordingly. Great song, great times, great optimism, cool band.

Ned’s Atomic Dustbin was another similar sounding band at the time. They have some great tunes.

For those wondering about their name. They took the most popular last name in England, Jones, and the most popular first name in Spain, Jesus. Jesus Jones.

When this song came out I was in High School and studied German! This song about when the Wall came down and everything was on all our minds when it was happening. But Jesus Joses took away the fear we all had! And gave me hope!

Also the first band you were trying to remember the name of is called EMF. As for the Farm about 10 years ago I moved from California to Washington State. In the little town I moved to there was an Irish pub owned by a man that to this day is family! Back in the day in England he knew the band the Farm. we used to sing All Together Now every once in a while!

I remember writing this song down on my Christmas list that year. My mom assumed it was a Spanish pronunciation: Hey-sus Jones. When I told her it wasn't, she refused to get it for me on principle. So despite Santa not approving, I still bought it for myself and waited for the lump of coal! Enjoyed the reaction Harri! 🙂❤

Yeah, it's a good one! (When I saw the name of the song, I immediately thought of a DIFFERENT song.)... I'm going to have to search to see who did that, and what the title is... I'm betting that you'll like it! (But, I DO remember this one, and that I had liked it, when it was playing on the Cleveland radio!)

This recording is from Countdown, which is the Dutch equivalent of Top Of The Pops. At one point I went there almost weekly. This was just before that time.

You are right, harri. There were a lot of bands around that time with this funky, poppy sound like the Farm, Carter usm, jesus Jones etc and then along came Oasis in 1994 who changed the musical landscape.

Oasis came from Stone Roses though.

Oadid changed it for the worse. Thankfully there was bands like Ride, James and a gew othets that at least held it up. 1994-2002 was some of the worst rock music in america. From blink182, everclear, LIT to wallflowets . God aweful rock music

You've probably heard this one, before, but, do us a favor and take a listen to Eddy Van Halen's song: "Right Now"!
