Hi Laura, Thank you for taking the time to watch our video. Excellent question! -Our portable nomad x-rays have a smaller concentrated field of radiation, and so lead barriers are not required. You simply need to be 6.5 feet from the person next to you while getting x-rays. In fact, you get more radiation being on your cell phone all day. Many regular practices are including nomads in their office because they are much safer for patients. We do have lead aprons available for patients who have concerns.
