I'm trying to come up with an Irish version of Jet Lag, and as a tribute to this it will of course include Percy French's song about the West Claire Railway.
Unfortunately they were pronouncing Ōkaihau wrong :( In te reo Māori, the macron on the Ō means that syllable is lengthened and emphasised, and the "hau" is pronounced more like "hou" than "how".
I had my Englisch final today (Germany) and the text we had to analyse mentioned some sort of place that starts with O in Australia and the only thing I could think about was the Okaihau Express. 😂
