Meanwhile back in the year one When you belonged to no one You didn't stand a chance, son If your pants were undone 'Cause you were bred, for humanity And sold to society One day you'll wake up, in the present day A million generations removed from expectations Of being who you really want to be Skating away, skating away, skating away On the thin ice of the new day So as you push off from the shore Won't you turn your head once more And make your peace with everyone For those who choose to stay Will live just one more day To do the things they should've done And as you cross the wilderness Spinning in your emptiness If you have to, pray Looking for a sign, that the universal minds Has written you into the passion play Skating away, skating away, skating away On the thin ice of the new day And as you cross the circle line Well, the ice wall creaks behind You're a rabbit on the run And the silver splinters fly In the corner of your eye Shining in the setting sun Well, do you ever get the feeling That the story's too damn real And in the present tense? Or that everybody's on the stage And it seems like you're the only Person sitting in the audience? Skating away, skating away, skating away On the thin ice of the new day Skating away, skating away, skating away

I have always felt that a band with all the success that Jethro Tull has had should be in the Hall of fame .We are talking about one of the all time favorite bands of a whole generation and beyond which has been in the for front of the whole industry is not in the Hall of fame.I don't get it at all.I.for one whose life was changed through the way of what was Tull stand in total shame.What do you do to not be named to the Hall of fame.I have no fucking idea .I'm the son of a Minster who was very hard on the music of Rock and roll.I did work with a band as a young teenager who whole reason for playing the music was pushed by the words and sound of Tull .Wind up was one of the reasons I looked at the church in a different way.I have been in such a tight home where much of the whole English Church was a way of life.The music allowed me to step back and look .Is this how God works ?No He is not the kind you wind up on Sunday .

Society has shot and Ian Anderson, probably because of his religious writings and songs. He bucks the system and tells it like it is. Society doesn't want to hear that. One day he will be accepted, when everybody figures out religion is nothing but a big Fairy Tail

Very good for Eddie Jobson and David Pegg, great musicians both. But it was a pity that the original crew from the 70's had departed after Glascock's death.
@bent2
@bent2 4 года назад
Barlow left because he was depressed after Glascock died, they were very close friends. Palmer and Evans parted because of disagreement with Ian over the direction the band should take. Remember, A was supposed to be a Ian Anderson solo album. I think Ian always has been very self conscious that the band should be relevant, even sacrificing band members in the process to achive that goal. In the end, even Barre was out after several decades. I don't agree with many of his choices on that matter.
