POV of Jetstream roller coaster, at Ocean Beach in Rhyl, north Wales.
Jetstream was the first tubular steel roller coaster in the UK. It opened at Battersea fun fair in 1974, and was moved to Belle Vue in Manchester for 1975. In 1980 it was sold to Ocean Beach, and it operated there until the park closed in 2007. Jetstream was then chopped up for scrap.
This was the first roller coaster video I filmed, and uploaded to www.ukrides.info It was in the days of dial-up and was really small, so its nice to start all over again with higher resolution!

I've just come across this video; I holidayed in Rhyl with a dear friend back in 1980 (I was 19 that summer, lol) and we spent our days between the Sun Centre and Ocean Beach - we absolutely LOVED riding the Jetstream. Thank you so much for posting this - it brought back such memories!

This was the first Coaster I ever rode. That first drop seemed massive at the time (1980 or 81). I was saddened to see it go as I was to see Ocean Beach go as a whole. Used to watch this video when it was originally posted. Thanks for the re-post!

Such a shame it was scrapped. Somewhere like Southport Pleasureland could have made use of this.

On the plus side it's neighbour the Pepsi Loop coaster is now busy bringing joy to many Iraqis

@@llynellyn I actually emailled Brean Leisure Park regarding the Jetstream before it was scrapped. Even informed them of its history as being the first tubular coaster in the UK. I had hoped they would have took it on. Never heard back from them and it was scrapped.

Weird how we never see this model anymore! But the 'other' Wildcat model is copied a million times over!

i can't believe there's a resurgence of that 'other' model, with brand new ones being made! I think the issue with this is the footprint, these take up a lot more room. This is more on a par with Brean's Shockwave, in terms of being a Pinfari Zyklon with the additional 3rd level. Nerd! lol x
