Thanks for all the memories of the fun fair, it was a great asset to Rhyl when it was there, I live down the road from it so I remember it well, sad it’s gone

Just as I remember it. I was there 1958-1964 for holidays and loved the miniature railway. It's still there today and a great place to visit with free parking. They had four of those loco's all built in Rhyl. Billy , John , Joan and Michael and another two went to Belle Vue and Margate. Many thanks to the person who had the vision to film it.

18:08 Brilliant film. I remember riding on the horses, and the boats. Best of all was Prof. Green’s Punch & Judy show, especially the amazing Chinese? jugglers! A bit sad to see what Rhyl is like now, but the film brought back some very happy memories.

I was born 1953 use to come to Rhyl every year with my parents and younger brother, it was a great family place with everything for young and old. Got married and did the same with my ex wife and our kids. Bloody council should hang their heads in shame bet your lifes back handers were behind the demolition of it!!!!!

You are so right. I was born in 53 too. Great place to go. Its now the biggest shit hole on God's earth. Thank god the 55 went around it. I was driving back from Conwy few weeks back. Decided to go home along coast road like the old days. Went through Rhyl. My god I was nearly in tears. Never again. How incompetent can a council be.??

Wow, amazing to see Rhyl fair around the time I lived there as a kid. The Train Around The Lake! King Solomon’s Mines was what that water ride was called. Loved every bit of it. 😍

Brilliant nostalgia, we went here in 1972, stayed at Palins over the iron bridge, my main memory of the fair was the Rotor,, went on it with my two cousins Phineas, and Marcel (soon to sing with Manchester band, Sweet Sensation),, there was always loud music at the fair, the 3 songs from 1972 that always take me back were, Silver Machine, School's out, and Puppy love,,,,Fantastic memories !!!!!

What an amazing piece of footage!! I was sadly still dead when this was filmed but as a kid growing up in the 90's and visiting it it doesn't look like much had changed.

Fantastic. I remember the place from the late 60s through to the 80s. I haven't been back in over 30 years and everything I've heard about the place today makes me want to leave it that way.

Such a great reminder of the town of Rhyl in its heyday. Superb entertainment for the family with great funfair rides. So nauseated that Rhyl, over the years has been sadly trashed by the action of its councils, the former Rhuddlan Borough Council and now the even more iniquitous Denbighshire County Council, a unitary farce forced upon us by that stupid cringe-making John Major's administration. A lust for power and money has led to the demise of innocent pleasure. May they be forgiven....if such largesse of spirit can be found to exist.....

Lovely bit of nostalgia when Rhyl had everything going for it. What would be there to film in 2016. A bridge over the Voryd that nobody uses. A desolate promenade full of half occupied buildings Streets knocked down. Hoarding galore. A lake thats just for doggy walks. No paviluon. No Queens ballroom. No floral hall. No bandstand or bike track. No Suncentre. No Tito's. High Street full of tat and aimed at the poor end of society. No quality guest houses and only one hotel that can take coach trade. No wonder Marks and Spencer called it a day. I could go on abd on but one thing is for sure Rhyl will NEVER see these days again so DCC need to get real. You cannot resurrect the dead! Thanks for bringing back some lovely memories with this film.

+Alan Taylor Yeah rhyl was good until the early 2000s, then it became cheaper to go abroad than to go to rhyl lol..

+Alan Taylor Me and my friends used to drive there from Liverpool for a fun day out back in the mid 80's and people had to walk on the road 'cos the pavements were so full. It's like a ghost town in comparison now. Sad to see how the local council have killed the place.

+Alan Taylor About the "desolate promenade" I hear what you are saying but I think your council has done a good job on it. The problem is that all those privately owned buildings on the other side of the road are still looking shambolic. Same applies at Morecambe, and Cleveleys.

As a Rhyl born & bred lad I can tell you it was a fantastic place to grow up in the 50’ & 60’. But sadly as previous comments the council through greed cocked it up and turned Rhyl into a SHIT HOLE. But thanks for the video 👍👍
