I never get tired of that sound :) So crisp and regular and reliable. Spent 30 years on 4 strokes but back in 2015 picked up a Beta 300RR and its now on 600 plus hours running as sweet as the day I bought it. A bit rattly as its only ever had one piston/ring change but its just soooo reliable and that 2T motor is such a joy to ride I'll never need to go back to 4 strokes again

600H and only one piston? No cylinder? Thats impressive! I Got 53h on my 23 300rr and also very happy. What a nice bike and started as a beginner. Made such good efforts with thats smooth clutxh and engine

@@Max-dj5qj Best bike out there right now. just use high quality oil, Castor 927, Motul 800, and i mix it just a touch oil rich at 46:1 to ensure plenty lubrication and no risk of too lean. Havent fouled a plug yet.

Hey Rich, love all your videos I bought a 250 RR last year and I love mine I to I run in the Suzuki needle like you and I am loving it. I’ve run many different bikes, and you’re right the beta has the smoothest power delivery I’ve ever felt on a dirtbike figure.

I started using Suzuki NExx needles around 2010 on my GasGas 300 and since then I've put them on every bike I've owned. What I would highlight about them is the smoother transition between low and high RPM, with a way more powerful and linear mid range. Perhaps a bit less powerful in the top end, but for the technical enduro that I use to ride, this is not a concern to me

Excellent video. Best discription of jetting I've seen. I went with the jd needle kit with 2 sizes down on main. That's what the kit said to do and it is a Night and day difference for the better. No more bike loading up and running so rich. Crisp and snappy and clean stronger power. A # 9 ktm clutch master cylinder Kit and the clutch is easier to pull and no more hand cramp on longer rides. Bike is perfect now. And street legal. Just ride out of the garage.

It almost seems like the oil injection in the RR vs the premix in the Race edition may be the biggest difference. Would be interesting to see what happens if you ran premix through an RR (bypassing the oil injector).

Rich if you don’t already make sure to adjust your float height from 5.5mm to 8.5mm another very small but very effective change on that PWK for the Beta’s
@masterbeta343
@masterbeta343 11 месяцев назад
Why is that? Im not too familiar with float adjustments. My 2013 250 has never really had a problem but ive also noticed that the bowl will leak out the over flow very easily. Any sort of leaning or anything can cause it to drip out. How is that measurement taken?
@motoboggle7525
@motoboggle7525 11 месяцев назад
@@masterbeta343 so thats one of the exact reasons to change it , your fuel milage will increase and it will as a result run a hair tick leaner and cleaner.
@masterbeta343
@masterbeta343 11 месяцев назад
@@motoboggle7525 so basically just making it so the float needle closes off sooner then
@motoboggle7525
@motoboggle7525 11 месяцев назад
@@masterbeta343 no complete opposite when it closes off thats when it throws the fuel out. You need less fuel in the bowl so the float has further to travel before it closes
@masterbeta343
@masterbeta343 11 месяцев назад
@@motoboggle7525 wait now im confused. if you want less fuel in the bowl then you adjust the float downwards which results in the needle shutting off fuel sooner. adjusting the float towards the top of the carb means more fuel in the bowl and a later shutoff. dont you want it to shutoff since its the overfilling of the bowl that causes it to leak out?

Love your stuff Rich, excellent relevant and concise information. Various of our rider group here in Australia really respect and enjoy your reports. I searched your site for info about the Beta X-Trainer but no luck ... I'd love to hear your thoughts. Would you also recommend the Suzuki needles for the X-Trainer? I have a 2023 XT 300. I love it for exactly the reasons you've described above. I do some trials, and bought an old Freeride 250R hoping it would be good in slow technical but the low down motor characteristics just drove me nuts. Like in that slow build of throttle approaching an obstacle. After a year of intense experimentation I sold it in frustration. I absolutely love the way the Beta motor runs so smooth down low. Cheers.

On my GasGas I just put ProTaper EVO Steering Damper Low bars. They are very close in measurement to a couple of Astra bar bends. So kind of poor man’s Astra or if guys have trouble finding them outside of North America. I’m 6’1” and I instantly felt better standing and in more control with the super low bars.

My dog likes to lead, so every now and then she gets a little bit in the way and thankfully I haven't ran her over yet. I'm loving my '22 300 race edition. The power delivery is truly amazing. At 800 ft elevation the stock jetting has been so good I haven't bothered to mess with it, though I will make time to play with that, because like you say we're always looking to tweak it into perfection, though it's hard for me to imagine it getting better than it already is. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the oil injection system and differences in the suspension. I thought the race edition was worth the extra $500 to get the KYB forks. Mine still has the Sachs shock and that works good enough for me. I've read about enough electrical failures that I would probably convert the oil injection to premix. I'm a firm believer that simpler is almost always better. That Phase gear looks awesome.

Current Beta 300 jetting needs are kind of intresting thanks for doing a video. Many think they are well jetted out of the box but are they ? Rich yes but somehow there Lean too. Is a Suzuki needle smoother? yes it is but does it sort the underlying jetting issue, I think not, it just has a better profile for smooth power if that's what your after. In general I find that under a light load the jetting seems a little rich but as soon as you load the engine in the low throttle, think 2nd gear steep low traction hill work, it gets hot, weak and needs the clutch to keep it going or a lower gear, you can play this back and forth with diffrent needles and clip positions, turning the air screw in will help as will a 40, 42 or 45 pilot but its a band add. For me changing how the engine transitions from the pilot to the main circuit is whats needed, a No 6 Slide this will richen transition as you roll into the throttle its not the same as changing the needle diameter as many think it has a much broader range of influence, I tend to think of it as shortens the time it takes the main circuit to deliver fuel or become active more than anything else, its a dynamic. H diameter needles with the 6 Slide are also a slight improvement on W and Js in any of the common needle series as you wont need so much pilot for the transition and the W and Js will feel kind of skinny at idle and off. The authority this 6 Slide gives the engine to pull load at low rpms is a joy, a happy clutch and much cooler running motor will follow. Sorry for the ramble but its mighty and will still run clean maybe not just as clean as you like Rich but it will give you a more tractable and forgiving motor on the climbs .
