Here is a rehearsal of Marguerite's Jewel Song from Faust by Charles Gounod. This was recorded last year in Rio de Janiero with Grandes Vozes. It was such a joy to be there preparing for what was to be one of my most memorable concerts! This concert was the first time I'd performed the aria for the public. Hope you enjoy this run-through!

Her voice is ideal for this role with lovely trills and light coloratura and splendid French as one would expect! I hope to hear her live in the theatre one day soon.

I really like your take on this aria. The way you travel the melodic line with such a wide dynamic range is very impressive and nothing short of breathtaking. The way your trills so perfectly blend into the whole thing without ever feeling out of place or without ever giving off a sense of being disconnected , well that's just proof of a level of musicianship that anyone could only wish to possess.

You remind me of Anna Moffo. You have a very clear lyric coloratura voice but with a little more heft to it that will allow you sing a more varied coloratura repertoire. Absolutely lovely.

Jose, you stole much of my comment-to-be.....I'm not much of a fan of soprano voices, but I always make exception for Anna Moffo, Tebaldi, Obratsova, and Deutkomen (sP)...all of whom have a roundness (implying weight) to their register(s) that many sopranos don't either have or cultivate. Of the "new wave", to my ear Oropesa is certainly "the voice" to "watch ?!!!!"

Hey EP. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. I know this time is testing us all. Please don't give up on music, and definitely don't give up on your dreams!! There will always be alternative ways to make money. But real authentic music will always come from just one source.

@EP !! Join us at Spooky Goose Opera on Facebook! We're doing concerts regularly through this whole thing and we'd love for you to participate with us! Also I feel this. I just had a long hard talk with my teacher - especially while having covid and watching everything kind of fall apart. My grades at Juilliard were slipping through that whole time, but I've gotten them back up thank God. I have no income at at all, my unemployment is currently frozen as I wait for someone to call me, I've yet to get a stimulus check. It's been so hard, but we do music because we love it. And I'm so lucky to have co-created and been supported emotionally and logistically as we made a place for us to create safely through this time! Come sing with us!!!! ^.^ and DONT GIVE UP!!! ^.^

Such a beautiful performance. I love how your voice responds to the French vowels to deepen the meaning of the words and how you maintain the rhythm of the spoken French even when singing in full voice. You are truly a special artist :)

A great aria, unfairly ridiculed by Hergé because of the Castafiore. And with very sinister undertones, if you know the context. Faust is, alongside with Don Giovanni, my go-to opera for Halloween.

Dear Lisette, I was fortunate enough to be at the ROH on opening night for Lucia a few years ago. You became one of my favorite soprano on that night. Nobody really knew you at that time. There was electricity at the intermission and everybody was asking "Do you know this girl? She is quite amazing." And amazing you were. Went back to listen to you 3 times during that run with your wonderful collegue Charles Castronovo. Then Elisir in Paris with Grigolo and Les Huguenots. Looking forward to hear you soon at the ROH hopefully. Best regards.
