Experience a spectacular day of fly fishing for salmon and brook trout on the storied West Branch of the Penobscot River with legendary Maine guide Dan Legere.
Fished there(all those spots Big Eddy to "the Brooke trout spot") from 1978 through early 2000's. Some of the best fly fishing in the world, especially dry flies, in my humble opinion. Best flies were the the elk hair caddis, golden stone fly, Wulf variants, blue winged olive (in a light rain). Miss it every June/July. Thanks for the video. Hard to float but the Holbrook is a real nice hole.
Fish there a week every year from 1970 to 1998 it was so great back years ago still good but nothing like it was hundreds of salmon caught during my years there almost all on dry flies 6 to 25 inches long . I know where that brook trout spot is my dad went there a lot he loved Brook Trout. I have such great memories of the Penobscot just saying. it was always called Steepbank pool. I’m left handed so I fished the side across from the road. My favorite place to fish ever. Had it all to my self . What time is it handy to be a lefty
