I'm a muslim but I love learning about other religions. This was a very interesting video! Thank you!

I am a Christian but I do not belong to a Church because after being 3 different denominations I cannot except any of mans added doctrines, rules or judgments. But today I am amazed at how the Jewish people celebrate so richly. I am learning.

In Judaism, Sabbath and family are inseparable. Long before the sun sets on Friday, Sabbath becomes the focal point of all activity. By mid-afternoon, family members make their way home, carrying flower bouquets and beautifully braided challah bread. Sabbath preparations include a table festively set with a white tablecloth, the best dishes, silver candlesticks and a vase for the flowers. Favourite Sabbath foods fill the rooms with delicious aromas. An air of expectancy pervades the house. As one of our Jewish friends expressed it, "The Sabbath starts coming Friday afternoon. By sundown it is all here." The mother of the family has the honour of officially receiving the Sabbath. At sundown she lights at least two Sabbath candles, although in some homes a candle is lit for each member of the family. Candlelight represents the Sabbath blessing that still shines from Creation. One can light a whole roomful of candles from a single taper without diminishing the lustre of its light. Just so, the rich blessing God intended for us on the Sabbath has not diminished since He blessed the first Sabbath day.

This is so helpful as I prepare a Shabbat without my wife. Thank you. It must be fun for the rabbi and these children to watch this years later.

Never understood the meaning of keeping the Sabbath and keeping the Kosher laws. As I grew up and went on with my own life I totally understand and love my tradition my religion,

The Catholic Mass follows steps exactly this Shabbat ritual, washing of hands, lightning two candles, blessing, cutting bread and Kiddush..the only difference is that only the priestc could do all of this and not the parishioners..the sharing of a piece of bread is classic also.

shabbat is not only for the jews it is all who believe it YHVH. all the torah is for all.

the washing of the hands is symbolic of washing off our "self will/I will". The palm of our hand is symbolic of our face. (the Hebrew word for palm is also face) The back of the hand is symbolic of turning away (showing our back towards God); just as Adam and Eve turned their backs against the will of "I AM". The reason for not speaking between the breaking of the bread (symbolic of the broken body of Yeshua (Isaiah 53 www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt1053.htm) and eating the bread is showing we must first eat the bread of heaven (will of "I AM") and then we speak His word/will of "I AM", rather than our will/our words .

With all respect what you DO NOT see is the woman or mother of this house in a puddle just off camera having worked a job and also just finished the 10,000 things necessary for her family to b able to eat and survive Shabbat!! As with most belief systems it the woman who truly carries the ball. I love that these people take time to enjoy God and family. It just sucks that it is so taxing on the women. It’s tantamount to a mother preparing a full American Thanksgiving meal every Friday. And not being able to run the hat water in the sink to clean up!!!

HOW DID THE LAW COVENANT BECOME "OBSOLETE"? However, the Law covenant became in a sense "obsolete" when God announced by means of the prophet Jeremiah that there would be a new covenant. (Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 8:13) In 33 C.E. the Law covenant was canceled on the basis of Christ's death on the torture stake (Col. 2:14), the new covenant replacing it.---Heb. 7:12; 9:15; Ac. 2:1-4. Thus, if a person insists on holding to the observance of the literal sabbath, he fails to to accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the torture stake and thus rejects the forgiveness of sins that it makes possible. It is just as if he insisted on offering animal sacrifices after Jesus had offered himself, the one sacrifice for sins forever.
