A super necessary and extremely timely discussion here. Really refreshing to hear your academic perspective from a Jewish Canadian such as yourself. Keep up the great work! My first video and can’t wait to dive into the others you have posted.

Great read-through. Regarding modernity’s dependence on foundationalist epistemologies (i.e. rationalism and empiricism), one wonders whether at bottom contemporary secular thinkers are not, like religious thinkers, also relying on some form of revelation: where do thoughts really come from, and can we rightly, definitively say *we* ultimately come up with the thoughts, ideas, concepts, and conclusions that undergird our human life?

My two cents: Politics means "adminsitration of the city", methaphisics means "beyound the physics" (that is material/observable matter). Since to manage a city you need ideas/principles, which are metaphysic by nature, then you already have the conclusion: politics IS methaphysic.

Concerning the point about the origin of language. I think that you can believe that there is an intelligence in the whole and acknowledge a bottom up origin of language. In my view language has a musical origin, but it had taken advantage of arbitrary conventions to create abstract concepts that refer to something other than themselves. This is the emergence of reason. Beneath this, however, the world is not pure chaos since there are intrinsic ideas, and there is music.

How was this essay received by the professor? I'd imagine they would have contempt for your thoughts as it's outside the usual liberal academia.

This was a brilliant presentation. It is NOT true that the ultimate metaphysics of reality cannot be known. You mentioned Genesis... I would advise Seekers to start there, indeed.

absolutely there is a connection between metaphysics and political ideology. I am a naturalist/atheist and an ancap. i think that anarchist philosophy stems directly from a naturalist presupposition. if the government is a bunch of men just like me, they have no divine right to rule, they are not morally superior, since their morality is just as arbitrary as mine, so i can't be a monarchist. I would never die in jihad because i'm not expecting 72 virgins on the other side, i can never be a theocrat. I can't be a communist because humans are evolved beings subject to biological determinism and therefore not equal. unequal outcomes are not the result of oppression but of innate inferiority. changing the economic incentive will not change human instinct and people will not become altruistic if you make greed illegal. genetic programming can't be erased with social engineering. i can't be a democrat because i think people are philosophical zombies who just imitate and regurgitate instinctively what they are told. there is no insight from them, only a subconscious drive to emulating the sheep in front of them. every ideolog will insist that their opinion is just and moral but none of them can demonstrate it, because justice is just a feeling in their head. justice is their desire for revenge and control of other people, it doesn't exist outside their mind. it simply is a feeling of self righteousness that we feel when we control other people, so justice is not objective. Anarchist philosophy is the only political ideology one can have if you assume naturalist presuppositions and want to be consistent.

Current politics is extremely ideological (and doesn't care to resolve any everyday life problems. Rather current politics are about enforcing ideology in every aspect of everyday life). Any ideology is metaphysical by nature (in the sense that an ideology is a full description of life and the world - not based in reason but on belief / faith.) Therefore : religion, politics, philosophy, "science" and even advertisment and marketing - all are part of the same show in an arena where the individual soul / person and their true real life needs are being slaughtered by the beasts mention above - so that the collective is both delighted by sensationalism and also manipulated for the benefit of authority and state , meaning the organized violence of the rulling classes and those who have the ambition to become rulers.
