God said he would bring an end to these rituals , and he did. He brought in a new covenant not like the one he gave to their fathers.

+sun Tao Wow-something just clicked-can you imagine what it will mean for the world, if the Jews rebuild their Temple, and establish the priesthood again?
@flutefun999
@flutefun999 8 лет назад
+sun Tao If they did, unfortunately, it would not be anything related to God or the bible. God clearly ended the old covenant so anything related to an earthly priesthood or temple sacrifices was ended with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. HE (Jesus Christ) is now our high priest and HE ended the sacrificial system with His death on the cross once and for all. What we have now is greater than the physical outer expression of worship. We now worship Him in Spirit (for those who have believed on Christ and have been regenerated in His Spirit).

sun Tao ABSOLUTELY. Yes. I agree. It is the greatest threat we have to "physical freedom" on this planet. I admit I don't know all the ins and outs, but I understand the "man behind the curtain" runs everything. The rabbit hole is so deep though, ya know?

Kohanim exist today as they have existed for all the history of Judaism. They have both rights and responsibilities, duties and obligations that reflect their special regard amongst the Jewish people. As was no doubt the case in second temple times Kohanim might officiate as required in the Temple but have occupations and livelihoods away from Temple duties.....those occupations and livelihoods survived Temple or not. A given kohen would only have officiated as part of the temple service twice per year and on the pilgrim festivals if that.....maybe a total of 20 days per year if he, and it was always a he, was really unlucky.

The Lord Jesus as the final Word stated the house would be made desolate. The zealots killed the High Priest family, and destroyed the records. A High Priest you had to be the first born son from the family of Aaron. Ezra rejected the men returning that claimed a levitical heredity because that had no records. There is no way to reconstitute the old covenant priesthood.

Yea. If you’ve ever known anyone with Cohen/Kohen or Katz as their last name; then it’s possible that they descend from the priesthood. There was a study conducted a few years by Tuder Parfitt, on Kohanem DNA, they collected DNA samples from Cohens all over the world to test that claim & It turned out that a large percentage of them did have similar genetic material that indicated that they had all descended from the same family (I’m paraphrasing of course) Fascinating.

Also Kahn, Kahane, Kagan/Kaganoff, Rapaport. There’s a handful of names that are reliably kohanic

Sigh, always with the same agenda. People forget that this wasn't the first time Jews were vanquished from the Land. In 586 BC the priesthood was exiled to the state of Babylon under Nebuchadnetzer . This gave birth to the prophetic writings of the major prophets whom were also of the priestly class. Isaiah gave very clear instruction to those disconnected from the centre of the temple activity and its importance. When separated from the temple system they were to conduct themselves differently yet the Laws didn't change. The priesthood that can or will reestablish itself WILL BE THROUGH THE RABBIS. IT IS THE SAME ENTITY. That is not to say that all Rabbis will be active in the third temple. Obviously they will be selected. The Rabbis of the various Orthodox communities never accepted the concept of a Judaism without the future mechanism of full sacrificial activity in a rebuilt temple you are sadly mistaken.

Santos means priest's son and many of them have the Cohen Modal Haplotype. I don't know about the Extended Cohen Modal haplotype. Baruch means blessing and is a family name for president Obama's family and the Lembas tribe has a special DNA lineage tying them back to Jerusalem they say. Levi, Levitt, etc are traditionally tied into the Levites they say. Surnames are not the only way to track them. Any male lineage should be fairly stable. The rabbis came about after Rome and they banished a society of women in Babylon that used to handle funerals and charitable work, etc. There is more to it than that but the Sephardi have liineages claiming to be from David's line though the Rabbinic history claims the line died off. As if the King made three requests and didn't include his kids. Plus the Exilarchs. Wait until we see among the Muslim nations how many belong to the ten tribes... that could be pretty cool. People fighting wars in the world slows us down and causes destruction and plunder, destroying evidences that would have been cool to have. Some priestly cycles have various traditions the Rabbis generally may not have. Jews were not all united at the time of the Roman conquest and they even fought eachother. There was one group that burned the grain to force then to fight out of their seige either Rome. One Cohen Modal Haplotype (CMH) was not Cohen but close they say. It's important to get more resolution if CMH is found because they have a higher resolution to see if you are related to the few lines they know about. It wasn't just one lineage. David and Levi and Aaron were all officiating in different roles in the temple. And Zadok may have had his lineage there for all we know, but we don't know on that one.

rome wasn't going to tolerate a central gathering place for all those freedom festival based holidays after 70...small gatherings with no official temple requiring an effigy of the current god-emperor and moderated by a rabbi worked for everybody except the hereditary priesthood...

The trouble is that the whole history of Israel and its traditions is a shadow picture.
@mikecase3468

In this way, you say they don’t need to honor their parents. And so you cancel the word of God for the sake of your own tradition. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote, ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’ ” Matthew 15:6‭-‬9 NLT

Christianity and Islam did not derived from a "shadow picture", they based, emulated and copied many of the the well-documented traditions and beliefs of Jewish people, otherwise those religions would have never existed.

@@JoseAngelFlores You have no idea what I am talking about. Joshua crossing the Jordan leading the Israelites into Zion is an image of Christ who's name is Joshua crossing through the waters of death, the wilderness is darkness and Zion which means sunny or light, from darkness to light, from death to life. Everything Israel did is an image or allegory. "Which things are an allegory" Galatians 4 22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. 24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. 25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

@@JoseAngelFlores Also most of Pharisees were interbred with the Ed o mights (can't type the real word because the comment will be instantly removed). John 8 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Yes, I think Judaism had several transformations. The Jews from the year 70, in Jerusalem, Alexandria, Babylon, they had the mindset of the Palestinians today. It was easy for the Greeks and Romans to trick them... creating a scenario to exploit their imprudence, their barbarism... at least that was what the people were saying in Rome. The Jews continued to be impulsive, just like the other religious cults at the time, in other words, more of the same... and then, I don't know exactly when, they changed, at least one group of them. Much more cunning, calm, unhurried... almost different person's. I keep thinking about the offer that was made to Jesus, in the desert. He refused it, I'm not so sure about that group.

Jews and Mormons think alike. They both worship $$$, temple rites including ritualistic blood sacrifice, and both have their own books Christians define as blasphemy.
