It's not so because of any govt policy but basic nature of hinduism. When Jews, parsis, Tibetans came to India, constitution or concept of secularism did not exist in India. Yet, the minorities thrived.

No one have never exchange even a single harsh word l, neither a Hindu to Muslim and nor a Muslim to Hindu. The Hindu traders even put sale on their items in ramzan to facilitate the poor muslims, that they can have meal. And we wish happy Eid to each others, and we wish them happy holi. We as a good human beings should never believe in fake news and documentaries.
