Hey guys. to join my Discord clicl the link: discord.gg/drNE6bT In this DCS (Digital Combat Simulator) im flying the JF 17 Thunder against 2 F 16 Vipers. This is a BVR (Beyond Visual Range) and im using the SD 10 missile. Hope you guys enjoy.
@@LongShotChannel Great. How much do you think DCS reflects the actual potential of plane? Do you really think JF 17 can defeat 2 F 16 viper in terms of plane capability?
Another great video. The Jeff is what I imagined the F-20 Tigershark would have been like had they been successful in finding buyers. The JF-17 and F-20 are dimensionally and aesthetically similar. However, after a few decades of upgrades and refinement, like what was done with the Viper, I bet the F-20 would have been a very capable aircraft still.
JF-17 is bigger and way better than F-20 and yes it did find buyers, recently Pakistan sold Aircrafts to Nigeria and China sold to Myanmar, Azerbaijan is going to buy the JF-17 thunder Block III model, Egypt is also interest as USA dont upgrade F-16s so Egypt wants BVR missiles and JF-17 is the best choice. JF-17 thunder block III got AESA radar with 170-200 km engagement range with PL-15 missiles which makes it way dangerous than export version of F-16.
@@pkavenger9990 I believe you may have misunderstood. What I said was that the F-20 didn’t find any buyers which is why it was never produced. From a purely statistical perspective, the JF-17 is a more modern aircraft with greater capabilities than the F-20. It was first flown in 2003 whereas the F-20 was first flown in 1982, 21-years earlier. Much like the 4th generation aircraft to come out during the 70’s and 80’s, I expect that a successful run of the F-20 would have seen multiple significant upgrades over those 20 years to keep it on pace with fighter planes introduced in the subsequent years. Here’s a great video I found comparing the two planes. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-evGYOosGhqM.html
@@pkavenger9990 He is talking about F-20 Tigershark's Buyers.. Not JF17's buyers Btw Pakistan was among the potential buyers of F20, in the 1980's.. Later during Project Sabre-II (to upgrade F-7/Chinese Mig21, into a 4th Gen Fighter).. AVIC, PAC and Grumman Aerospace were partners, where US tried to pitch F20 once again.. But thanks to Arms Embargoes on China in 1989 & Pressler's Amendments on Pakistan in 1991, Grumman pulled out and Pakistan and China completed the project, resulting in JF17...
@@dstavs you are absolutely correct. its not about finding buyers or better tech, both jets are of different era but I agree Tiger shark was ahead of its time and its future blocks would've kept it current. the success of F-16 killed that very capable but affordable fighter. J17 does borrow some F-20 DNA . Pakistan was offered ToT & local production but it joined the rest of the world in awe of the Falcon. which served it well against Soviets and Indians.
JF17 is an excellent machine in the right hands and PAF ensures it Did you know out of 44,000 applicants only ONE is chosen to be the pilot (that's waaay harder than getting into Harward law school)
FYI mate. Recommend using the jammer as well and if you go 5 degrees nose up or more, you can loft the SD 10 and it will come down on the bandit with alot higher velocity. Good fight mate.
Personally I have essentially two programs. 3 chaff and 1 chaff and 1 flare. I set them as every second program. So program 1 3 chaff, program 2 1flare 1chaff, program 3, 3 chaff, P4 F+C and so on. Easy to switch between them while in combat and also quite Conservative in their usage :)
@@The_Tau Ya I have them set up now, very similar to yours actually.. The conserving of countermeasures is the toughest part.. I read somewhere that the JF-17 block 2 had a bolt-on countermeasures pod that could be attached for SEAD missions. So many Block 2 and Block 3 features I wish we had in this plane
@@The_Tau If im not mistaken there is an "fc3 style" keybind to drop just your tanks in the "simplified controls" menu... im90% sure anyways. A few other planes have that feature
Hahaaa YESSS my dude, just what I was waiting for :) The f-16 is sexy as they come but the Jeff is all practicality, kind of like the phantom but waaaay cheaper to produce and much more effective (sans mach speed) lol
🔥🔥 video love the JF it can hold it's own against king of the skies Wishing to see block 3 in game just add the HMD n WS13 chinese engine or RD93M russian engine.. its gonna be insane thenn 😍🤩 also comes w more radar absorbing material to reduce RCS.. oo and 8x hard points w a chin pod n a fully digital display in the cockpit no more 3 screens
@@moaazahmad7153 C'mon dude Thrust to air ratio is worse part and weak engine which already makes JF17 behind say someone is behind with nose with Fix 3s in 1 circle it's an easy splash for any Western and Russian 21st century jets
@@abirsbruno6018 The Russian engine on the JF-17 is temporary anyway, it will be receiving an increased thrust Chinese engine in the coming years. Perhaps the WS-13E or the WS-19 which is being matured on the J-35 platform.
Does anyone else bind the afterburner switch in the jeff to the thumb switch on their throttle?.. Despite being a dirty ol engine with limited power, I find it really easy to conserve fuel in the jeff by using the afterburner on a switch and only activating it when you need those extra lbs of thrust
@@Colin-fj1ci Sorryt I didnt see this.. back then I had an x56 throttle, and there was a flat toggle switch in the thumb position. I bound the afterburner On/off switch in the cockpit to that switch, and then whenever I needed to burn I just flicked the switch. With the switch off you seem to get more resolution in your throttle up to MIL power as well, made refueling easier for me. I run a winwing orion hotas now so I no longer have that switch unfortunately :(
Is there any reason of why your plane have the D/L pod in the ventral pilon? the FM is almost complete in th 17, so that pod is used for communication with the cruise missiles as far as I know, not useful in Air Superiority configuration, you get extra drag and weight.
Adeel Raza There is no comparison there. Tejas is just a trainer/light attack jet with just 400 kilometer combat radius with light load and Fuel tanks and not manurable much with those payloads. So even if its modeled and released as a module in DCS game, No one will buy it because its useless even the countries own Navy and airforce rejected it. and was later forced inducted by Modi's government 2 squadrons on training and light attack roles 2000km away from the closest border in South India (remember the combat radius is just 400km) to promote a made in India claims and publicity stunt although the only thing made there by HAAL after 50 years of development was there composite material airframe (Rest Engine , avionics, radars, suits, missiles) all were sourced from different countries)which led to them having cracks resulting in grounding and repairs. Only 32 are forced to be build so far in almost 20 30 years and almost all grounded now with 2 squads reportedly active which is highly doubtful as well as there is no news or updates on the wiki page which is almost dead now with existing references also being based on over inflated biased Indian news etc. So in short their is no commercial viability of the module to be added in DCS like the actual Jet being useless itself.
SU30 Mig21 tested in real life and SD10 Missile doesn't differentiate between jets with RCS as low as 5meter squares is there is nothing new on the table with the shady deals of Rafael which is under investigation by French courts. Only thing they need it for was to actually be able to see and communicate in the jamming by Pakistan Airforce and don't go in Blind and deaf like they did when came to have a fantastic cup of tea !
How did you drop those tanks without going to jettison page? Also you forgot to switch engine setting to combat, adds extra thrust and you forgot to set G limiter to AA after dropping those tanks ;)
The “Emergency Jettison” button won’t jettison pods, A/A missiles, or LD-10s. You can bind it to a keyboard button. Very useful when using A/A loadouts for quick tank jettison.
@@LongShotChannel Brother I believe the datalink pod is only for the man in the loop cruise missile. jamming pod is what you need in a air air fight. If its just switched on, even not jamming(jamming at close range don't work and even helps HOJ missiles) , it gives the slant range of the rwr contacts, meaning it will essentially show you the approximate distance of the rwr contacts on hsi. That would be valuable in a fight as acquiring and locking someone by the radar takes time. Further the vertical scan mode can also be used for bvr if you know the general position of a bandit. Hope it helps.
They are different aircrafts. Right now the JF17 in DCS is better, but ED is working to complete the Viper. So... i like the Viper more, but its my opinion..

Tejas ? that trainer and light attack jet with combat radius of just 400km ? which took years 50 years to build with compost plastic frames which cracks and leads them all to be grounded with only squard left placed 2000 kilometer away in south Endia out of the 32 forced build to promote Made in Endia claim by Modi when even both AirForce and Navi rejected it ?
I personally think that the JF-17 is a out of date fighter, the avionics are great but the build of the fighter makes it vulnerable in todays modern aviation combat.
Avionics and missile performance is more important than the fighter itself in modern BVR combat. JF17 is designed to be a budget fighter with advanced weapon systems, its not the good as many expensive fighters, but it can perform almost as good with less than 1/2 the cost.
@@arguywindham1101 Yes, JF17 is s joint program between China and Pakistan. The main user is Pakistan airforce, and also export to a few other countries recently. China has J10, J11, J16 and J20 in service, all of them are heavier and larger fighter than JF17 with more range. Since China has massive territory, longer range fighter is very important.
@@KevinJDildonik i believe though that the f 16 can just do everything that it can do but better, not even counting the super hornet or the strike eagle, i believe that even upgrading the already prevelent fleet of vipers for pakistan instead of the joint program would have been better, having to retrain pilots might boost the cost anyway
