The flashing lights you see are the In pavement Runway Guard Lights. They are located at the hold position for the runway and flash alternately to warn the pilot or vehicle operator that they are about to enter a runway.
i wasn't referring to those ... the taxi lights on the planes themselves are being turned on and off. On when the move and off when they stop. Never seen that before.
How long did it take you to get to that part of the airport...Makes you wish that ATC allowed you just to take off from the halfway point of the runway instead of going all the way to the end
Thanks for the comments. The flashing lights are because the taxi lights are set to pulse setting. This is normally used after takeoff during the climb through 10,000 ft. It can also be used on the ground. I will set them to pulse while on the runway waiting to takeoff clearance.
