Thank you for your comment . Mitsubishi will not touch the field of original development because it costs money. Licensed production of Sikorsky UH & SH60 series may be sufficient.
I'd rather take the Huey over the Blackhawks any day you also have to admit the Cobra is a badass looking chopper too I like the Apaches too but the Cobra is an intimidating look
HELICOPTERS ARE GREAT FOR THE CAPABILITIES THEY PROVIDE. BUT, ULTIMATELY, THEY ARE SIGNIFICANTLY SLOWER THAN TRADITIONAL HORIZONTAL TAKEOFF AIRCRAFTS, BECAUSE MOST OF THE POWER IS GOING TO KEEPING THE CHOPPER AIRBORNE. SO DEFENSE FIRMS ARE NOW DEVELOPING HELICOPTERS WITH PROPELLER ENGINES ON THE REAR TAIL AND ANOTHER TILT ROTOR CALLED THE V-280 VALOR. BOTH ARE ALL NEW COMBAT UNPROVEN DESIGNS, USING MANY NEW INNOVATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES. WHICH ALL TRANSLATES INTO HIGH PRICED HIGH PROFIT SYSTEMS. SO I'M THINKING, WE'VE GOT THIS EXISTING VERY LARGE HELICOPTER FLEET, WHICH THE DEFENSE FIRMS ARE PROPOSING TO AT LEAST PARTIALLY REPLACE, AND AT GREAT COST. SO WHAT IF WE TAKE SMALL TO MEDIUM SIZE TURBO JET ENGINES AND STICK THEM ON THE REAR OR TAIL SECTION OF A HELICOPTER AND RUN FUEL AND CONTROL LINES TO THE FRONT? WITH CONFORMAL FUEL TANK ON THE FLAT BOTTOM OF THE CHOPPER? THE JETS CAN BE MOUNTED HORIZONTALLY OR VERTICALLY, OR BOTH (2 SETS) AND MAKE THEM STEERABLE, A THRUST VECTORING SORT OF DEAL. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS OF SUCH A SUPER CHOPPER? YOU GOT YOUR COBRAS, YOUR APACHES, YOUR CH-47Ks, YOUR CHINOOKS NOW GOING CRAZY AT SUPER SPEEDS. LOOK MA, NO HANDS!!! CAN YOU TAKE JET ENGINES, SAY, ON ANY SMALL TO MEDIUM AIRCRAFT, AND INSTEAD OF MOUNTING THEM ON TRADITIONAL FORWARD PYLONS LIKE YOU SEE ON PRACTICALLY ANY CARGO AIRCRAFT LIKE C-17 OR BOEING 787, YOU MOUNT THE ENGINES INSIDE OF THE WINGS THEMSELVES, ON HINGE FRAMES THAT ALLOWS THEM TO *ROTATE* VERTICALLY, ESSENTIALLY TURNING THEM INTO VSTOL AIRCRAFTS, ASSUMING THE WEIGHT IS NOT TOO MUCH FOR THE TOTAL THRUST OUTPUT. I THINK IT CAN BE DONE, FOR MUCH LESS THAN BRAND NEW CUSTOM DESIGNS. THIS IS A MATTER OF ENGINEERING, NOT EXPERIMENTAL PHYSICS.
