I was one lucky s o b who had a high security pass to all UK bases in the 80s and got to see all the USAF beauties. A-10s, Phantoms,Aggressors,F-111s, F-15s as well as the big bombers. Today's can't compare with that exciting variety.

Likewise for sure. Soviet bombers have always fascinated me. Growing up during the cold war it was a treat just to see one in a book or magazine let alone on tv or in person.

B1 used to be MACH 2+, flying high and then coming down to ground level just before the bomb run, but they calculated that 60% of all B1 would be shot down, so they changed the tactics, and made it slower, but more efficient.

I used to live near McConnell AFB in Wichita, Ks. 20 mile radius of sound and house shaking Thunder when B1s flew. Sometimes full afterburners low and loaded taking off Back to back to back at 2am.

The magic of the plane is it can fly at +1200mph at the tree tops with terrain following radar guidance. If the TU-160 gets that low it's because it is about to be screwed into the ground after it took a missile hit while doing the only thing it can: supersonic high altitude attack.

Amazing machine. Editing on the video could have been better. We got to watch them load the luggage but they cut out the whole engine start procedure. And where was the supersonic flight as implied ? Shameful

@Ken Mason the shape of this one is very awesome or astonishing (B-1B), that shape is well worked, not a damn aerodynamic engineer has made, ( you know perhaps the engineers how good they are don't know much about beauty) it's see that was made by many or someone who love to engineering things in their great sense. Compare with soviet ''style'' counter-part, shitty ''white swan'' Tupolev Tu-160, look at that like someone was pissed off or something when created it. A very SF style made from the old fashion SF novel in the 50'-60' by Issac Asimov, bleah, the american is most beautiful and and also actual, never get older, ever.

I like those C clamps on those doors. Those doors probably almost "snap" shut. Worked Avionics for many years (mainly C-141A's and B's. They were maintenance intensive - the "Bone" looks about the same. I would love to know the ratio of maintenance hours to flying hours.

Total radicallys cool of aircrafts! B-1 of Lancer! +900 miles a hour or +1.2 of sound speeds!! And a BUFF jets right ined front of it too even. Two of my favorite very jets!! I wonder it will they let it a teens ager looked ined it at the airs shows liked they did of the b17 and b24 aircrafts? I got to go ined to them but I could not to afford it the $500 for getting a ride ined one.
