Dammit! I just passed on a nice 6 speed C5 3.0 wagon because it had bad 1-2 gear/syncro. I didn't think there was a rebuild kit/manual/vid out there. I'm kicking myself now. Great vid!

A BIG THANK YOU for offering the video. I have a 1995 A4 B5 Quattro 1.8T with over 300,000 km! It's a daily driver, without any mods. 01A clicks only in 1st gear, so I'm suspecting chipped tooth. Your Video will be extremely helpful, when I tear down my 01A, to have a closer look. I have a Bentley Paper Manual too. I'm from Canberra, Australia, so I'll try to post a link on OZAUDI Forum.

Yeah they will never come out with a video for an auto tear down and rebuild. No market for rebuilding that heavy, failure-prone trans. The 01E in any car is HEAPS more fun to drive than an auto, too.

Looking at that magnetic screen. Doesn't that mean that using non metallic syncro's wont allow the magnetic screen to pick up the particles from wear, leaving them to just circulate in the oil? Is this something you would recommend with your carbon syncros, in that the oil should be changed very frequently?

my 2000 s4 6 speed manual when engaged in 6th gear seems not to travel much to engage and when cold when DE accelerating pups out of gear almost like something is keeping it from moving all the way in to the position.that is the only gear doing this,the synchronize is fine and there is no nose. any ideas ? thank you

Unfortunately no, this will not be anywhere near the same as a CVT transmission.

This has been very informative and good video but is it possible for you to release a better quality one (this looks like its from the 80's) and a bit more informative, I mean telling what gears are you putting back etc? like in the 1:08:45, telling more than "this gear", more like what gear is it etc.

Ok.... I dont get it ..... My car is A4 b6 with the same gearbox. I contacted you ia your site and you or someone told me there is no kit for a1E box and you never had it ... here you show exactly the same box I have and you change the synchros and collar ?!?!??!
