Nice. I don't think Jhoira has been well optimized yet. Plenty of room for exploration. The versions I've had the most success with are turbo focused (as you recommended). Importantly, this involves a high density of artifacts to chain into. Roughly 50 artifacts sounds crazy, but it gives an extremely high chance of going off when you're ready, for example. I have had great success with this ratio. Still lots of variations worth testing.
I think there is a lot of potential cards that could be printed that could make her better. I mean there is a lot of low cost artifacts they could print. or any cool afinity artifacts.
Cool analysis! It's rough playing a commander centric deck that also needs you to play a lot of cards that are just not good in a vaccuum. Isorev combo is just so clunky to assemble in izzet so I can see why it might not help the win but also using dramatic reversal on it's own potentially has a bit more value these days with TOR. It's interesting how you could immediately pick out the win-more cards like aetherflux and thoracle as bad using the stats
Honestly took the ol no counterspell jhoira and built flubs with the same idea of all gas no brakes. Honestly works even better in my experience so far
with enough artifact cost reducers verything u cast ends up free anyways, sensei's top & mystic forge ends up drawing the deck & sensei's top is MVP in Jhoira
words of wind .... uhhhh. Strong card. Really good in jhoira on its own but also a cool wincon. It returns all permanents from your opponents bordstate. But you can also do walking balista.
I would imagine Helm of Awakening + Sensei's Divining Top + Jhoira to draw deck. Words of Wind for infinite mana with Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, etc. Finish with Walking Ballista, maybe even Elixir of Immortality + Pyrite Spellbomb loops?
Hello Mons, I feel like the last year many things changed for cEDH, when it comes to deck optimization. The format is getting more mature. IMO in many cases the decks that used to work, are not good enough anymore. When doing these statistics I wonder if this is an important consideration. I feel like useful deck innovations not always show up in better win rates, because the competitions is also getting better. Curious to hear your perspective. An issue I see with the low counterspells count Jhoira cheerio turbo strategy, is that the strategy is still relatively slow. As a Jhoira pillot I know It is very rare to push for a turn 2 win with her. IMO it is not keeping up with the speed of turbo naus, peer, hulk decks or rakdos the muscle and K'rrik. Basically you are trying to play a game other decks are better at. Would you agree?
You are correct that I have 1 year old data in my stats. But it is quite hard to have enough data to say anything unless we use all we have. But I have thought about it. I don't have a perfect answer to fix it. Or well some decks can start to rotate out old ones. Like tymna and kraum I can fix this. Just remove all 1 year old decks. But not for decks like jhoira.
I actully think flubs might be better. You get more colors. But that part where you have to be hellbent is tricky. I might be wrong but flubs might be better or I belive it to be.
Hello, another nice data-based video. I like those. Can you share detail analysis? I'd love to see how certain cards (not mentioned in the video) are doing.
The sample size of Jhoira isen't that big so hard to say much of from this. These was the ones I could showcase. And there is a chance the video gets really long. Like really long if I showcase ALL. So is there any cards you want to see I can give that info here if you want.
Perfect, thanks. Well i'm interested in: The one ring, fabricate, basalt monolith, artificer's assistant, filter out, the reality chip and displacer kitten.
Depends on what your game plan is but if it's just "Jin Gitaxias will win me the game", what I'd do is a Rograkh/[any blue partner] polymorph deck with Jin as your only creature. I think it will be much better than having him as a commander. Once he is in play, you can probably either storm with all the card he drawn you or try to deck yourself. Sadly no ThOracle to not wreck the polymorphs so Jayce, weilder of mystery is your only option for that which is quite scary. I feel like 10 mana is too hard to achieve and blue just don't have the tools to consistently cheat him into play. On a final note, the no creatures beside Jin in the deck is a fun restriction to build around if that's your thing.
Thanks for the suggestions! Actually it was a bit of a joke 'cose isn't a cedh deck but just high power one haha. I tought about polymorph, but is a bit of an inconsistent strategy and you loose a lot of power not playing other creatures, isn't it? At the moment is just counterspells, removals, some permanent based protections, all the card advantage staples and artifact ramp + dream halls (t2 jin is pretty strong). Comboing out with mind over matter + ring or basalt + the new infinite mana enabler from karlov manor. Eldrazis to top the curve and use ugin binding (cylonic n2) and all is dust effectively.
