@@savanahbabyyyyA lot of people seem surprised that juniors would often be stronger jumpers than seniors as though it's a disadvantage to be young. It's really the opposite though, in women's juniors have a major physical advantage from being smaller. A lot of the time they aren't hitting so much harder tech because they're more talented, they're just benefiting from that physical advantage. I don't really count on any junior to be blowing away the field with their tech unless they're still doing the same when they're full grown

Under rotations are serious and result in negative GOE. She lost levels on her spins. They removed the step sequence in the free so the scores for the juniors are even lower than the seniors this year and lower than the juniors before this new rule existed. They will not give senior level PCS of 70+ to juniors while seniors get them. Juniors internationally are capped to 69 and below. It has been this way for quite some time. Also the GOE for her jumps got worse. Last season Jia earned 216 at worlds due to high GOE for her jumps. This season she gets lower GOE.

@@savanahbabyyyy it's not that her GOE got worse this whole season, it's just this one competition where she had unstable jumps. She had a Korean domestic competition literally days before, so I think that affected her condition here. All her jumps were fully rotated at the competition a few days ago.
@savanahbabyyyy
@savanahbabyyyy 6 месяцев назад
@@KumaKumaKyun Internationally her GOE is worse at all comps this season barring 2022 JGP latvia with 6 points in GOE. The Korean ranking comps and the Korean competitions usually give her higher scores in PCS and GOE than international competitions. This is the same everywhere for most countries. Her domestic scoring is going up against everyone in Korea, but her international scores is compared to everyone at the international level. In Korea she got 67 in PCS at the ranking comp. Internationally she is given 63 in PCS here. Down by 4 points. In Korea 15 points in GOE. Internationally she gets 8 points in GOE. Down by 7 points. 11 points down overall in the free internationally. Her best internationally was two years ago at Junior worlds with 136 maximum in the free against Isabeau. Against Mao at worlds it was worse at 130. This year it's 131. Only 5 points down from her best due to errors. Her PCS was 1 point less 2 years ago. It was the GOE of 14 points that helped her. Today she had 8 points in GOE due to errors. She has never broken a Mao level 220+ scores internationally. She needs a 3A and a quad for that or just needs 17+ points in GOE with at least 68 - 69 points in PCS to do 220+. At the mercy of the judges more than Mao. 70+ is reserved for seniors internationally. Juniors don't get 70+ which is how Seniors like Kaori and Loena can break 220+ without a quad or triple axel. They rely 100% on PCS and GOE. She also never broke 210+ internationally unlike Korean domestic comps. This year at worlds she might. Fingers crossed. Without higher PCS in the 68+ range and high GOE she doesn't have anywhere near enough tech base value (70+) to score higher. She has 58 - 64 maximum in BV without GOE. If she had multiple quads she may be around 74 - 86+ in BV and she wouldn't need to depend on high 3's and 4's in GOE or higher 68+ PCS from the judges. The quads would automatically result in higher GOE even if she got a low 2 compared to a triple (if you give both a quad and a triple a GOE of 2 the quad will factor to more points automatically due to higher BV). 4S with GOE of 2 = 1.94 3S with GOE of 2 = 0.86 Even a 3S with a high 4 GOE cannot match a 4S of low 2 GOE. Do you see the problem? For example a junior Sofia Akateva broke 150+ in the free but had low 60 in PCS and low GOE her very first junior season (Jia had 56 in PCS back then). She didn't depend on high GOE or high PCS to win. She had two triple axels and 3 quads across both programs to get 230+ points with 83+ in BV not 60 in BV like Jia. I think people forget that these other girls were pushing major tech for high points and were not at the mercy of the judges to get 150+ for free programs. The 80+ in pure tech BV is what saved them. For Sofia low 1's and 2's in GOE from the judges are enough due to high value quads. For Jia she requires high 3's, but mainly high 4's for her triples to factor and reach similar results to quads getting low 2's and occasional 1's. Mao has this advantage too when she was clean today with 3A and 4T, but she messed up the 3Lo and couldn't reach 210+ Senior women like Kaori can reach 150+ without Sofia level ultra-c and with even less tech than Jia due to super high points in PCS at 77+, and 17+ points in GOE. Jia must be senior for this type of scoring. PCS and GOE is not how the past junior girls got high scores. It was throwing down a 3A, with multiple quads in the free. Jia is not the same. She is dependent on GOE and PCS internationally like everyone else without quads. Mao is pushing that quad even when she fails to reach her potential 230+ in the near future. Once that 3A and 4T is fully stable she can push 3A+ 3T in the short, and two 3A's and two 4T's in the free to not be at the mercy of the judges for PCS/GOE. Giving higher PCS and GOE to the juniors isn't something the ISU does so Jia has to wait until she is senior for Kaori level GOE and PCS even though she IS better than Kaori. It's true, she's better, but gets scored less as a junior. Her only issue is emotion compared to seniors. Jia could depend more on athletic strength like Mao to push herself to the top without being at the mercy of judges, but she doesn't have that high tech (yet) so she needs to depend on mainly PCS (Presentation, composition, and skating skills) which the manipulative judges will score to their hearts content and how they feel about her in that competition vs everyone else. Right now they don't feel she's good enough to merit a senior level 17+ points in GOE for tech or high junior 68+ in PCS.
@KumaKumaKyun
@KumaKumaKyun 6 месяцев назад
@@savanahbabyyyyIt's also because in Korean nationals and Korean ranking competitions, she competes as a senior and is able to do a step sequence in the free, which is not allowed in junior programs. That adds more than 4 points to her score. And the fact that she tends to do better in those domestic competitions. Idk, until this competition, Jia has never really had a problem with rotation. It's never really been much of an issue for her and she was fine literally days ago, so I really think it was a matter of being fatigued from back to back competitions in the same week. Also, one thing frustrating about her is that she tends to do well at international competitions that tend to be strict and then she makes errors at international competitions that score more generously. This leads to her scores never rising and staying in the same range for years. Here, she even got two level 3 spins which brought her score down further. Whatever, I just hope she'll safely transition to seniors and do well in Milan. I feel that if she is consistent in seniors, the judges will start awarding her with more PCS. Right now, they've placed something of a cap on her PCS. And Jia's jump GOEs have generally been high compared to a lot of her competition. In this competition, her jumps looked rough. I understand the lower GOEs. But even for that opening double axel which frankly could've had a smoother landing, she got 1.04 GOE. The judges were willing to shower her with high GOEs had the rest of her jumps looked more like they had a few days ago in the domestic competition or even the JGP. I think they realized she wasn't in great condition as the program went on. Her flip looked uncharacteristically bad this competition, as well as her loop. Both jumps she didn't have much trouble with this whole season. I think I remember only one error on the flip this whole season where she did a step out. Remember that 2022 junior worlds happened back before judges started to score juniors less generously. They were still on that Russian scoring high where it was easier for juniors to get really high scores. As more time goes since the Russian skaters were banned, it's like the judges have become more conservative in terms of scoring. I'm glad she at least gets to compete at all in Milan because someone like Mao, for example, has the worst luck in terms of timing for the Olympics. With how fast figure skating moves, we can't even be sure if a huge talent like Mao will make the Olympics in her career now.

I don't understand it. Some viewers act as if they are professional judges. Just enjoy the skating and leave the rest to those professional judges. It is obvious in the competition, Mao's technical scores are higher due to perfect quad and triple axel. Who are we to judge by liking certain skater better. Jia Shin was not underscored, she got 63 for components, which is higher than Mao. Mao's component was lower due to a pop on loop. But she definitely scored higher for technical.
