@@rumble2468 nah he's just a dumbass who has no idea how to read a room or people. Nothing to do with him understanding and choosing to be blunt to convey his message.
As someone who lived in China, it kinda sounds like what a Chinese person would say as a sympathy play, but directly translated into English it sounds hilariously blunt. Props to the actor.
“You speak Mandarin? Anybody? No?” And Ehrlich went on making sounds approximating Teochew, a Chinese dialect. This scene kills me everytime. “He’s a stickler for the accent”
His alcohol abuse got too bad. He was showing up late or if at all for shooting and a lot of the times created a bad environment for the other actors. So I can see why the writers may have hated to, but had to. His character had a lot of potential.
@@daleriggsiii6785it wasn't just that - dude was a massive douche and super sexist. Always harassing women on and off set, deeming himself superior to them. When he left for the Emoji movie they all laughed because they knew it would fail. He quit the show to play an Emoji thinking it would give him a huge boost in his career due to the casting. It actually did the opposite. This, of course, was before all of the fucked up shit he did came to light.
Fucking hell. He's so great, i love his character to death. And he does the role sooo damn well. And for where i've been, haha, i started watching and watched the whole show about a week ago. Fucking fuck, i'm curious how they're dealing with the situation. Like how it's going to play out
The last few seconds are hilarious. I added the "I'm a big fat fucking asshole" scene to my channel but the quality is dookie. How did you get this video quality?
Not sure if it's happen stance or purposeful, but erlich's fake Mandarin actually sounds like he sort of says "you're not listening." It sounds like he sort of mumbles "ni ting budong" which roughly translates to you're not listening, or you don't understand. My mom used to yell that at me all the time when I was acting up as a kid
"my grandmother give me recipe for octopus before she die in a horrible way." The recipe is the subject so the way I heard it is that the recipe was given in a horrible way, like it was scribbled on a post-it that got stained and torn or something. The WAY it was given was horrible and that is Jin Yangs motivation to create a better ways to give octopus recipes. He is such a simple character that I could believe that. Just look at how proud he was of Hotdog Not HotDog. Meanwhile everyone seems to think its the grandmothers death circumstances that were horrible. I don't think thats the case.
This scene would be funnier if Jian Yang didn't understand and maybe kept referencing the 90s Genie movie with Shaquille O'Neil in his confusion, if there was an actual language barrier, I think that would get more laughs out of the scene and make Jian less smug and more confused and naive, but the angry way Jing keeps shooting down the idea lowkey is kinda irritating (THAT IS NOT MY VISION!!! and when Erlich reiterates, he's like NOOOO in a stubborn hissy fit) because it makes him seem like he can understand but he's too confident in his stupid idea. Jian isn't stupid he's more just passive aggressive and set in his ways, but this scene makes him seem like he's a complete moron in he doesn't understand the pitch is sinking from his blogpost/recipe-as-an-app idea while smart enough to maintain he's being railroaded/saved by pivoting the pitch to a much superior and useful idea. You can't have it both ways, he's either smart or he's dumb/naive. Honestly, I loved earlier Jian Yang, but the stupid smug and cocky Jian Yang who was so tone deaf that he legit gets angry with Erlich who comes up with a superior idea and product on the spot, the arrogant way he's like "NO SHAZAM IS NOT MY VISION!" really irked me cuz he seriously thinks a blogpost in app format is superior. I think the writers thought the absurdity of some moron thinking his 18 recipes vs a much superior and logical idea would be funny but the way Jian Yang plays the role low-key pisses me off, he comes across as way too angry here, like he can understand his idea is being railroaded by a superior idea, he can understand the idea of Shazam for food, but he maintains 18 recipes for 1 dish is logically more useful endeavor.
Apparently TJ Miller was an asshole on the set. Mike Judge, one of the creator of the series, shared his thoughts here www.slashfilm.com/why-tj-miller-left-silicon-valley/
Because TJ Miller is currently facing federal criminal charges for making a fake bomb threat. He is an asshole. He should be in jail for the Emoji movie.
