The way he changes his face when he turns into chambers, especially during the call at 1:14 is just amazing acting, it is truly like he is becoming another person. Great 'effin actor!
Well yeah some comp sci nerd isn’t gonna be able to build relationships or cold call. Nor would they want to or else they’d have majored in marketing/communications
Jared was already my favorite character, but the kitchen scene with Ed Chambers laughing confirmed it for me: Zach Woods is a comedy genius. This is the funniest scene in a show made of funny scenes. HBO - PLEASE bring back Ed Chambers.
I am fascinated by how Jared's voice wavers between very low and very high constantly. Now that he tapped into the deep part of his voice from Ed Chambers it is all I can notice now haha.
Honestly all the characters on this show are pretty one dimensional except Jared, who turns out to be this incredibly deep, complex, wounded, wonderful person. Woods had way more acting experience, which helped, but his inclusion really shows some self-awareness in the writing. Nice job and wonderfully acted.
@@AnshumanKumar007 That would be more Bachman, in terms of providing unexpected plot material. Although you are correct in identifying a second trope, common to all three shows: "character with sad backstory" which is Jared here, Phoebe from Friends, and Erin from the office (who had a cringey relationship with Woods' character). One of the takeaways is that large numbers of stand-up comics are able to learn dramatic acting, at least well enough for TV
@@billywhite1403 I gotta agree that Erlich is more of the wildcard in terms of creating random plot, while disagreeing with the other guy and his Creed assessment in that regard. Creed was a wildcard with his dialogue, but there's almost nothing he does in the entire series that takes the plot in a different direction. I would have to say Dwight for The Office if those are the parameters we're working with here.
@@Malkumecks yeah you are right, he was def on both shows. I don't think the Office gave him much backstory besides being secretly a cool guy, speaking chinese, proucing music... and the psycho lover storyline. Jared could def be an older Gabe starting over on the W Coast...
some philosopher once said if something is perceived as real, then it is real in its consequences... jared's ed chambers had an actual effect on the world so he was real in that sense
The Thomas Theorem. It's a simple thought but actually hits pretty deep. If you think about it the idea of "The United States" is just completely made up. If everyone lost their memory of it and all documentation of it was lost it would functionally cease to exist. But because we believe it exists, it does. And people are willing to die for that belief.
That’s the genius in the writing.. as a viewer you parallel Richards reaction of hearing he was “fired” but having worked in a business environment it actually makes sense Jared felt the need to “fire” him as he has now developed a figure that’s very real to the world outside of their company… you’d be surprised how important it would be to make sure everyone in the company understands this fake persona has been fired to not confuse outside business
I literally have zero clue how they found a cooler version actor that looks JUST like Zach and was able to switch him out seemingly without cuts, unbelievable editing skills
I had to let Ed Chambers go. Who? My fictional supervisor. He bragged to a sales rep at La Croix about "Doing It" to Sonia Sotomayor. So Ed is no longer with us.
with how easily Jared brought Ed Chambers to life, it's almost curious to wonder if Jared is actually another one of his personalities, and "Donald" was another one of his personalities when he was under Gavin Belson. Perhaps Jared came from Donald finally become sick of Gavin's abuse, and as he left Gavin and came to Richard as "Jared" he decided to get away from the abusive relationship he had with Gavin, and took on a nurturing role with Richard. Speaking german in his sleep, his group home past. Jared (if that's his real name) likely has disassociate identity disorder
King Kooba I had similar thoughts, and I definetly think he has some identity issues, as he often hints about an abusive or otherwise misfitting past and he may have created "Jared" as a defense to those events, acting as if they never happened. This could've severely altered his identity, and now he can't see a difference between himself and identities he makes up. Very interesting character indeed
Donald is his supposed real name. He only goes by Jared, because Gavin started calling him Jared. Jared even calls himself Donald in a few eps when he's giving himself pep talks
@@infernocanuck A comedy where the IT is actually spot on a non-negligible amount of time, and the dick jokes are backed up by pure math (season 1 finale)
@Almost Not Retarded it's a joke. you see it would be unconvincing to say no homo' after having expressed gay feelings. hope that's cleared the matter up for you, let me know if there's anything else you're confused about
Normally laugh out loud comedy is associated with non-veg humour.. I don't see any non veg joke on the show and even when they try going that route the under tone of the joke is still not non veg..and also without that stupid teleprompter lol sounds..
I watched this clip for like the 5th time and realized how much I would enjoy an entire spinoff where "Ed Chambers" leads to a "Robert Paulson" Fight Club situation with Pied Piper
Mike Judge could have done so much more with Ed Chambers. This could've been a driving factor for at least two seasons in a half capacity. This would've been a favorite fictional fictional character. But anyone who appreciated Donald Dunn as much as me would say the same... Once Ty couldn't drop his nuts on the table for a deal in real life it went down hill from there.
