I built one once. Dragged logs already on the bottom of the lake and stacked em up. Attracted mostly bass, but MONSTERS. Pretty cool to snorkel over it.
Nice video,,great camera angles.!! i fish the same way..one pole rigged with a rattler to call 'em in,and another rigged with a vingla tipped with a meal worm or a minnow head.
This was on another CT River cove. There are a ton of places that have great crappie fishing. Your best bet is to get the Guide to Lakes and Ponds book that the CT DEEP puts out. I think it is $25. It never leaves my truck. Check it out here: www.ct.gov/DEEP/cwp/view.asp?a=2696&q=322692&deepNav_GID=1630
Hey man just a few things, one awesome video and gorgeous crappie, and i respect the fact you only kept 2. Most people will keep every single fish they catch regardless of limit. Second, how did you get video like that? GoPro and sticking it in the water or do you have another hole drilled out of camera sight and using that?
I was using 2 pound test and I knew I had a good sized crappie on. Sometimes, with thin line like that, it digs in and gets caught on the ice. . I didn't want to break the line on the edge of the hole...
Humminbird 597 is useless in this case - nothing can be seen on the sonar screen (this is why they do not show sonar screen). All the fish that is lower the upper adge of the upper log is in a dead sone.
