The difference is up until recently they cared about how it looked. They would never stuff the box more than the number of registered voters - too obvious. Having worked on several college campuses for years, most professors only use their first name outside of the classroom. They actually prefer to be less formal. But there are those pompous ones, and it seems Jill falls into that category.
